Truthfully, it’s tough for the Ranger CDI to go anywhere, because what the Ranger actually needs isn’t clear. Active condition cleansing is a start, but other than that…what?

Well for starters…

Better Signets and better Shouts, the current versions are lackluster and provide very little support, Signets needing to be traited to work on the rangers and the party support gained for investing 30 points for your shouts is pretty bad. Admittedly, both are confirmed as “being looked at”.

In terms of weapons, auto-attack on Sword is an obvious one. But the Power based weapons in general need to be looked at due to low multipliers (GS), terrible skills (LB) and ambiguous use (SB, Axe Main). It should be more clear which are Power, Condition and Hybrid weapons.

Traps in general could use a boost (Combo field for Poison/Spike Trap being literally the LEAST they can do…), while Spirits will likely receive a nerf from PvP, while still being too weak in PvE/WvW.

The problem is the issues with Pets outshine all of these. All these points have come up in the CDI, there has only been replies to few of them.

Thing is, most of these changes are honestly numbers buffs, which really don’t warrant a CDI, hence the general confusion over what Rangers actually need. They have a few specific changes that they need, but they aren’t that well known in general, which is what my original post was about.

And yeah, on the Ele, I fully expect a lot of RTL whining. I’m all for reverting the nerfs on it, other than the range (1200 range is plenty for a movement skill). I still feel their CDI will be more focused than the Ranger one, though.

I doubt it. Elementalists are too different in the different game modes. Spvp builds are different from wvw builds which are different from pve builds. It will be like a triangular slider which buffs 1 game mode but nerfs the other 2 most of the time, if we go with the Anet style of buff something and nerf to compensate philosophy.

Or maybe succumb to the RTL whine. That’s universally heard in all 3 gamemodes.

Edit: just saw the Ranger CDI thread get shutdown. Bad form.

WvW law #1: nobody in WvW can count.

It didn’t get shut down.

“Given that, I’m going to lock the thread for now so that the team and I can catch up and discuss/summarize the feedback we’ve gotten”

It got exactly what some posters said it should get – a chance to get read and digested before it got more out of control.

See I had a (conspiracy) theory that ANet has already decided what they’re going to do next with the game and are using the CDI topics to voice their opinions so that hopefully someone says something that they already plan on doing. If that makes sense….
ANet decided to implement Feature ‘J’, they open up a CDI around that topic and people scream out with Features ‘A,B,G,K,R’ … then someone says Feature ‘J’ or close to it, ANet is happy, closes the topic. Later releases feature ‘J’ and says “Oh look it was mentioned in the CDI topics… we did what you asked…”
So… maybe that’s why, OP?
