Personally I think games with heavy cc are fun, I also think games with stealth are fun.

I bet I am not the only one in that regard.

OK, I’ll bite. What do you find fun about them? Please be specific.

The original post is one big complaint about the game and about it’s mechanics, it is a poor attempt to reduce other players fun for the sake of the posters fun. The OP is not about tweaking or balancing it is about fundamentally changing the game at it’s core.

I’m sure you can find someone that finds just about anything fun (there are people who pay others to abuse them), but surely if you’ve spent any time on these forums, you can’t possibly have missed the endless complaints about stealth and CC so I’m hardly stating a minority personal opinion. It’s really not that difficult to understand why many people don’t think having their character frozen in place or tossed around for lengthy periods of time so they can’t control them or do anything isn’t a lot of fun. It’s also not that difficult to understand why many people don’t find fighting opponents they can’t see or hit and who can run away if they start losing to be a lot of fun. Do you really enjoy not being able to control your character for lengthy periods of time or not being able to kill an opponent because they ran away when they started losing?

And, yes, I do think that when the game offers boss after boss that are effectively immune to CC and effectively immune to stealth, that suggests a fundamental problem with how those mechanics works and impact game balance.

If you do not have fun playing do not play.

It’s never really that simple, is it? Do you enjoy everything about Guild Wars 2? Is there nothing you would like to see changed or done differently because you don’t really like the way it is now?

As is your reply. If there is a plethora of “I love the way CC and stealth works in Guild Wars 2 — please give me more!” messages in the forums, please point them out to me because I’ve been missing all the love for those mechanics.

The game as a product was advertised and sold with stealth and cc, the proffession trailers showed tons of it, people bought the game for that stuff because they want that stuff and because they think that stuff is fun.

The game also describes Rangers as “unparalleled archers” yet when Ranger players point out how ineffective archer Rangers are, they are told to play longbow Warriors, instead. The game also pitched itself as a game that minimized griefing and frustration that was good for casual players. That’s closer to what I bought the game for, not so I could be frozen in place by a zerg for 30 seconds while they killed me.

When the game first launched Orr was so bad they had to tone it down, so ANet knows that this is really bad design, yet more and more in Living World they keep adding this lock/stun/bouncy/bouncy death watch mode.

Stealth is just a bad game mechanic in PvP, to have stealth that cannot be countered is even worse. They attempted to make a useless ranger skill (Sic em) useful but they failed dismally because once they latch on to a “design philosophy” they lose all sense of what is right or good and just stick to it.
