Stop killing builds
Have you looked around the forums lately?
There’s two types of posters:
- Plays a build, and thinks it shouldn’t be nerfed.
- Doesn’t play a specific build, and thinks it should be nerfed.
And the third, who just see it as it is.
I’m regularly play all 8 professions and don’t think Dhuumfire is such a big deal some make it out to be. In sPvP, it’s 2 sec/10 sec internal cd and there are several hard counters, not the least Hambows that’s been flooding the game for months. AFAIK, teams who pick necro do it for Signet of Undeath, not some measly burn dot. 80% of the necros I see in hot joins are already MM spec, hardly ever see a hybrid there. The only one who I see can have a problem with Dhuumfire are kitten zerker thieves without cleansers.
In WvW necro is arguably the worst roamer already and in zergs I don’t see players lining up to play one either. But yeah, maybe the change is for the better, but we’re talking Nerf-it-to-the-ground-ANET here, so I have my doubts.

RIP 100Nades. I knew your burst damage well as many a Engi 1 shot my Thief when I first started tPvP. Changing a trait so much that the build is completely gone from any kind of play is not a good thing. Dhummfire was nerfed in sPvP so much that many people were considering or already have dropped Necro from their teams. Condi necro will still be a thing, they will probably shift back to older 0/30/20/X/X builds. But I don’t see many Necros wanting to use 30 points for a line that gives then very little benefit.
There are definitely better changes they could have done with Dhuumfire. Tying a damaging condition to Life Blast is not a bad thing, if there is no ICD. Condition necros need to use Death Shroud for their defense (like all other necros), and may spend some decent lengths of time in there. Having a Grandmaster trait giving them something to do while in death shroud would not be a bad idea.
Dropping Dhuumfire to 2 seconds on Life Blast and removing the ICD would, in my eyes, make it a far better trait. Given the slow attack rate of Life Blast and the fact that Death Shroud all but denies the ability to stack damaging conditions, I think it would be a fair trait. Other damaging conditions would wear off, but some decent pressure could be kept up with just burning and a few Dark path bleeds.

I’ve started running 10/20/20/0/20 in preparation. I take the signet recharge, I mostly didn’t want to give up ALL of the condi duration, plus I run signet of spite, so it didn’t go to waste. Took terror obviously, staff traits and the normal traits in the bottom tree. Seems to do just fine.

But it wont remove burning it will remove cripple or poison, which will be applied faster than burning.
Changes happen, it’s what MMOs are about.
Funny that the Ranger is excluded from this status qou.

Whenever they wake up and realize their fantasy of a unified, balanced skill pool is just that, a fantasy.
It didn’t work in GW1 and it isn’t working in GW2 with a fraction of the skills.
I like that they nerfed Dumbfire…but in all honesty (and this is coming from a diehard necro player) Dumbfire needs to be gone, burned in it’s own consuming flames, and swept up to never be spoken of again. Most of the necro community never wanted this fail of a trait, we still don’t. We knew the horrors it would unleash on our already nerf-heavy class. It had a good run for those 2 weeks though, was almost worth it to hear the QQ’s. But it needs to be gone. Forever.

HAMBOW is a warrior spec, and as such, is untouchable by nerfs. Stop kidding around :P
I bet they are working hard to fix the bugs in necro’s professions mechanics before releasing the double sigil update while looking at warrior’s weapon swap traits.

lol, yeah there is a lot of classes that share your frustration. bug fixing def needs to happen soon. maybe after all the complains the devs will put more effort into these things. some of my mesmer bugs have been in the game since launch and others are over a year old.
the necro bugs are annoying and should be adressed soon, same with the mesmer bugs. its like gambling when using certain skills like ileap or blink. one time i works fine and then 3 times in a row nothing happens at all….
hey anet, how about dedicate one patch on fixing bugs( engi,necro, mesmers(over 20 issues) really need this attention). it would be game changing for many of us.
