Also, the last time I used Lich Form in WvW, I watched the projectiles.

In general projectiles will hit if you don’t change direction and/or movement speed after they are ‘fired’.

I remember when zelulose was griping about how mesmers were OP and he had the absolute best mesmer build in the game and that his build is why mesmers should be nerfed. IIRC he 1v1’d one of the more prominent mesmers in the community, (mesmer community not the self proclaimed pvp mesmer gods.) and he got absolutely destroyed with in a few seconds….. So anything that he gripes about take it with a grain of salt because well it seems that he just doesn’t know how to deal with some of the weaker builds or a class that has no stability outside of lich form on one of the classes best equipped to strip said stability. Baddies gonbe bad.

Was that Pyro with his phantasm build he fought? If so I remember reading that.

I know. I’m telling you they didn’t hit when the enemy didn’t change direction and/or movement speed. I’m telling you that they flew right behind, at the location the player was when the projectile fired.

I really need to go out and officially test this, then maybe post a vid for confirmation. I think I’ll try to do that this evening.

Lich Form auto does not have facing requirements. It fires directly behind just as easily as it fires directly in front.

YUP! LOL the video was hilarious. But given that experience this doesn’t surprise me that he has found something else to be upset about.

I didn’t know there was a video I’ll have to look for that. I had just skimmed over that thread but thought it was pretty funny.

When they are moving in a direction that is both away (or towards) you and sideways relative to you (like bi-chording trying to avoid missiles) the angular (rotational) speed will change as the distance changes. If the targeting uses the angular (rotational) speed to calculate the required correction this could result in missing the target for very slow missile speeds, even if the target doesn’t change their heading or speed.

As I noticed once again yesterday, I can be the squishiest of power necros, and any thief trying to fight me wants to kill me, even if he could just disengage and come back to 2-shot me once the form runs out.

I’ll never quite get that.

Just… don’t let yourself get killed? Push don’t-die-button. The form is a serious waste except for pushing people away from you via the third skill and the raw artillery danger. That’s in smallscale. Large-scale it actually starts to become useful due to it’s high damage potential and ability to produce some significant AE utility.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.
