So the blood prince escapes, starts looking for his father, finds him in the mad king’s realm, and what? they bicker?

It felt like something else was going to happen, since he took over half of his father’s army.

what was the point of pointing that out?

it felt like there was no real conclusion to this, just a very short intro.

And that is just the point.
It WAS the intro.

It would be quite silly of them to bother introducing a character that fast and then just solve everything within a few weeks.

They stated that this year they simply wanted to introduce the Prince in order to build more upon it in the coming years.
