Oh boy, the karka achievs stopping to count, and working for a day, and stopping again, and working again, and them not working for what? 7-10 days till the end of the southsun arc was the biggest F-you that Anet gave to the community so far, i was amazed.

I was trying to get the crabs achievs and it was broken, not counting crabs carried, nothing. Then it activity was removed. Now this norn can belch with a smaller cooldown than players, is it how it is supposed to work?

When I finally beat him. We technically both lost at the same time. But I was given the win.

7+hours on Adnul. still cant get him. he spams his buff too often. . If i start with fake or water hes guaranteed to belch me. But, if i start with belch or drink he won’t belch me until i use water or fake. And wtf is eyeing you too closely, theres no buff for that. That needs to be removed.

I’m disgusted with Maddie just woo hooing constantly. Really, her 3 round buff has a three round cooldown? There’s no skill here, just luck. Just keep trying until the computer is stupid and lets you have a round of healing. Not fun.

Rejuvenation boosters still work. I managed to beat Adnul last night after several hours thanks to boosters. It’s still pure, dumb luck, but it at least makes your odds slightly better.

I’ve beaten Adnul at the second try. Ok, i had luck.
Imho, though, the matter is that they shouldn’t be able to use the signature more times during the match.

Thanks for the tip. I was finally able to beat him using these boosters after wasting 7 hours of my life in front of Adnul. It STILL took several tries though. This guy is so horribly broken that even when cheating its still nearly impossible and all about random dumb luck. They should have to follow the same rules we do. Allowing them to spam their signature moves like that is very obvious artificial difficulty. Terrible design.

Yep, had the same issue with the Southsun events. Was unable to finish the crabgrabber achievements because of this bug.

Seriously ANet, these problems are bad and you should feel bad.

after 34956847336649 tries adnul somehow forgot to spam critique every possible time and i got lucky and beat him with 600 hp and only bleach left which i used to finish him off .. i will newer touch that content again

Yep, just like the Aetherblade jumping puzzle… Never again.

In every other complaint thread about difficult content, there is generally a good few players who defend or like the challenge – Not once have I seen a posting on this topic where a player has said that they enjoyed challenging the more difficult masters at this game, whether they finally managed to beat him or not.

Why on earth would the Devs, when they are aware that not one single person has enjoyed this particular encounter not change it? This whole thing is counter intuitive to good design. Who cares if everyone manages to beat all of the grand masters? what you want to achieve is – at the end of it players enjoy the game, go out and buy a kit and start playing it with other players.

When I ran my toon though the Order of Whispers, I thought, Gosh this would make a fun mini game to play all the time. Adnul has beaten that love for the mini game out of me.
FIX! HA! they did not tone him down they just took away the ability to use the mango’s which I learn about all to late.

I had this happen! I FINALLY got him down to 0%, not a sliver of green in his HP bar, a clear victory, but he didn’t quit.
Nevermind that the NPCs don’t follow any rules similar to the player, but to finally “beat” him on a lucky draw after 10-20 matches, and then I still lose? That’s just beyond aggravating.
And now that ANet is pushing content out every two weeks, we can expect more buggy situations like this.

Oh…. I don’t have any rejuvenating boosters, lol. Ill just have to keep trying… later… maybe…

Or, if you don’t feel like perfecting your skills and getting lucky, have a Guardian help you out. The guard should trait 30 points in Honor, and take the traits Writ of the Merciful, Battle Presence, and a staff. If you want give your friend a bit of silver so he can buy cleric’s armor to boost healing power. Have your friend stand next to you and spam skills 2, 3, and 4 on staff. The person fighting Irongut should be untouchable.

EDIT Never mind, when someone is fighting Irongut none of the healing skills from other party members will work, so a guardian can’t help his friends.

Same for me. He continues to block my bluff 95% of the time which makes him impossible to beat. He uses his special ability constantly: he starts using it randomly and if you survive it he will use it the second time, and THEN he will use it for the THIRD time and the FOURTH time (I am not joking) …that’s twelve blocked bluffs and you can’t survive that, no matter what. This is a real problem because he is =impossible= to beat. =IMPOSSIBLE=. Not hard, not extremely hard-impossible.

For some reason there are no rejuv boosters in the booster section of the gem store.

For hours I tried to beat Adule the proper way by using my skills alone, and when that didn’t work, I moved on to Duffy and forum strategies, and then Mango Pies, Rejuvenation Booster, Guardian friend healing, Elementalist friend healing; but nothing worked. Seriously, there’s something wrong with the game mechanics when its so tough you cant even win by cheating. I play GW2 for the PvE not for the mini-games, so why should I bother with this crap? Screw the tittle, screw the achievement points.The Order of Whispers mission that this mini-game was based off of, was still tough to a degree, yet far more fun an entertaining. Congratulations on ruining your content once more.

I don’t think player-character heals affect the drinking game, anyway.

I’ve been trying for the last hour, using every strategy you can in a game that’s as simple as tick-tack-toe. I seriously shouldn’t have to spend this long in a mini-game as part of an achievement. It’s all luck based, even if you know the right strategies. Furthermore, other players got away with Mango Pies, which cannot be used now. Meaning this content is not fair in two accounts. Abusers get rewards, and luck is the winning factor. Just unacceptable.

I’ve been caught bluffing on the first skill 10 times in a row now. Switched it up and drank, and he didn’t belch. The NPC is READING MY MIND!!

Rejuvenation boosters work… Nuf said

The real problem is that the damage/healing from drinking/water is bugged for the player. As such, you take way too much from a drink, and heal way too little from water. Because of this, Adnul is “difficult” b/c it just becomes a game of pure luck with minimal skill. That is not the right kind of difficult to shoot for.

The correct “difficult” to shoot for is one where skill should consistently be able to beat him, rather than relying primarily on luck. Compare this to some dungeons: some groups may take 10 tries to finish a dungeon when they are learning, but they can see that increased skill/learning the mechanisms is what gave them the W in the end (like with Lieutenant Kohler – he is doable when you learn his tell). That is rewarding. If there was a dungeon that just had a 90% chance to instantly KO people with no tell and no way to stop it, nobody would do it and it would be just frustrating. That is why there is so much frustration here.

Is Adnul going to get a nerf, I’ve already sunk 2 hours into it without success I don’t want to spend several hours on something that’s going to be fixed tomorrow. Also for the love of god please get rid of his gloat at the end. It’s really frustrating being boasted at by code created by what I have to assume is the pot smoking son of someone high up in ANet who felt bad because he failed first year Computer Science.

Finally got it. after 4 hours. had to get his health down to nothing 5 times. awesome. steals a shotgun, aims at monitor, blows it to pieces

if they woukd make hard inis it would be ok, but impossible events are bullkitten. it should make fun shouldnt it? but after more than 2h trying to beat him, it do not make any fun any more. i hope the patch that in some hours.

Might help for beating Adnul:
Never ever drink without Adnul’s critique skill up.

Always Bluff.

When your bluff gets countered use bletch then water.

Around 50% health that is when he starts spamming his skill, so make sure you have bletch charged up. Do not use bletch unless you see his critique is active or when you get your bluff countered.

If critique is not up, even if your health seem dangerous, do not use water and save it for when critique is up. Just use bluff.

When his skill is active, the order of the skills you use have to be: bletch > water > drink. This is so that your bletch will be at “1 more drink to activate”

This was what I did to beat him 4 times with 4 lowbies after the patch (it still took me 30 minutes to 1 hour) because my low level 2s couldn’t use the pies before the patch. I hope this helps. Good “Luck”!

So we’ve been investigating this issue and we feel that Adnul is being a little too mean. We will have a change in soon that should make him give players a bit more breathing room while still maintaining the difficulty to a degree.

great so i beat him after a lot of effort now it’s easy mode for everyone…..gg. i should just wait in future until encounters are nerfed.

Nerf Adnul. Thare is NO strategy, NO tactics only random. I hate when you place something like that in the game.
