Black lion key change - suggestion
I like the keys and buy the keys. While I’d like for them to yield more useful things I think it would be silly to take the rng box and make it rng to even get the key to open it. As for keyfarming, that is a really great thing that allows people to get tickets for the black lion weapons so that they stay relatively cheap and do not blow up. My opinion. Also devs have said keyfarming is working as intended.
I vote no to this idea. But that’s just me.

The people who farm keys actually put some “braindead zombie” effort into this.
They do not “abuse” anything, anet have stated that they have no problems with people farming keys.
Take away the ability buy black lion keys from Black lion Company.
Only have them as rare drops.
Change the content in the chestas so that they ALAWYS contain something useful (Like makeover/harstyle kits, boosts, ticket scraps etc – not like box-o-fun, single-use tonics etc)…
I never buy them. And the VERY few drops that I have got of them have given me mostly junk… I’ve had 3 tickets scraps and i have been a frequent player since release.Also make it impossible to farm them by starting new characters over and over again – it’s being abused. Take them away as personal story reward.
If they stopped selling keys for $, then they would need to find new ways to replace the lost revenue, which will be massive.
Keys are definitely one of the best selling items in the gem store so unless you can come up with a way to generate several million dollars a month by NOT selling them, your idea is DOA.

I just don’t get how people think they are smart by coming up with ideas on how to make black lion keys “fair” without stopping to realize that the keys were not intended to be fair to anyone but arenanet.

I don’t have the link, but Anet has said this is a perfectly legitimate way to acquire keys. They may change their minds, but until then they are the ones with an interest in us buying keys, so if they are okay with it I’m okay with it.

I have no problems with them adjusting the rewards, but what one person considers useful another considers junk. I’m pretty sure Anet would argue they currently ALWAYS contain something “useful”.

How is this being abused? How does anyone farming BL keys effect your game in the least? VERY few items (and they are VERY VERY rare) that come out of BL chests can be sold on the TP. To be honest, the only reason I occasionally farm keys is that I have 100+ chests in my bank and I’m not going to buy keys for mostly RNG junk….but I will sink some of my game time in to earning them.

I am starting to think I have been incredibly lucky with BLC’s lately. I’ve gotten a few keys from random drops and a few from personal story of three new tunes I’ve leveled up lately and those keys (maybe a dozen or so?) have produced two tickets and nine scraps. Based on the comments folks have made on the forums here, that seems a much higher rate than normal. Maybe the RNG gods are trying to seduce me into buying keys with gems? That’s not happening. ;-)
