Q:
Could somebody explain this to me?
A:
You were charged the listing fee to put it up. You were then charged a selling fee once it sold.

Yes, you get charged 5% to list and 10% when sold. So you effectively get 85% of what you list the item for.
Sorry Tertle your math is incorect. (you get 90%)
Here is some candy corn I could sale.
Amount Candy corn = 206
unit price =13
Total Amount of sale = 13 X 206 = 2678 (26 silver 78 copper)
listining fee = 5% sale fee = 5% ( each of which would be 2678 X .05 = 133.9)
Now round that to 1 silver and 34 copper
Total fee = 134 +134 = 264 (listing and sale fee added)
Projected Profit: 2678-268=2410 (24 silver 10 copper)
Easy way: 206 (candy corn) X 13 (unit price) = 2678
2678 X 0.9 = 2410.2 (24 silver 10 copper)

Wrong!
Yeah, anyone who has ever actually checked their inventory after listing an item could tell you that the 5% listing fee is taken out when you first put it up, and then 10% is taken out if it sells.
