While the recent Mega update has improved equipment skin customisation, the upgrades customisation QoL has being taken a step back in some aspects. (No transmutation transfer of runes, mixing costumes for RP)

I would like to suggest some gem store items which would bring back much of the customisation freedom of pre update. (disclaimer: gem prices are what I personally find agreeable and wiling to pay for, whatever your reception to these ideas, your feedback is welcome)

1) Custom costume slots (800 gems/slot, max 5 per account)
This reusable custom slot allow you to select pieces from all you available costumes, fancy headgear, and gloves (may not those horrid ‘casual wear’ khaki short, vests etc) with individual dye slots for each piece. Any character may select a custom costume for use over their armour.
(I miss having fluffy ear muffs on my winter gear, or aviator glasses with my witches outfit)

2) Tome of Rune Upgrade. (800 gems)
Account upgrade for your equipment tab. Opens up 6 slots that can hold runes. Locks the upgrade slots on your armours. Rather than lock certain runes to armour pieces, you can now obtain a set of runes benefits from the Tome. You may retrieve the runes from the tome by paying a 1s fee per set. Each character has their own open Tome slots.

I suggest this upgrade for the hardcore build experimenters or WvW that would like a more economical viable solution for build customisation than the upgrade extractor or total rune destruction when using a new set. While you may argue Anet should place the PvP rune customisation options to PVE, it ultimately earns the devs no money. This suggestion is a compromise.

tl;dr:
Gem store ideas: Custom combat costume slots (select pieces + dyes rather than wear whole sets).
Tome of Runes: Independent rune slots to replace armour upgrade slots. Freely interchangeable rune sets for each character.
