Don't transmute legendaries
I’m sure he can submit a ticket and arenanet will give him a couple splitters for this.
I don’t really know why, but I predicted this in December when I transmuted my dreamer. I immediately bought a splitter for safe keeping. They really should have warned people though.
And all who stood by and did nothing, who are they to criticize the sacrifices of others?

gah. I just remembered I did this with my Light of Dwayna in order to put it in storage when I deleted a character. Just submitted a request. I think this topic should also be placed in discussion so more people see it and are warned not to make this same mistake until this is straightened out.
They really should have warned people though.

It does seem odd that they go out of their way to put red flags on things that are leaving the store soon, but neglected to do that here.
I do remember them posting the splitters would be removed, but my assumption was that would happen April 15. It wasn’t trumpeted by any means, either.

I filed a support ticket and told them which items I had transmuted and they responded with a splitter in my character email within 15 mins – on a Saturday even!!!!!

I think the bigger problem is why can’t they just say, “Uh, dudes. We’re kicking the splitters. Just FYI. Kthx.” ._.
You know… now that I think about it… In the wardrobe blog post they said something like “split your legendaries now”.
Of course, that hardly counts as telling us… In my mind anyway.
Here’s the quote:

They need to address this problem by giving away free splitters in the shop under promotion. Yes splitters, more than 1.
By April 15th, the splitters will be useless to “ANET” anyways.
The money will be in selling the charges.

I believe I recall reading that people with transmutation splitters would be getting charges in return in the same way as people with transmutation stones/crystals would be getting compensated. This would make giving the splitters away problematic.

So, what about tranmutted Ascended Armor? Has anyone been compensated with splitters for their armor?

Well, since they sent me 2, obviously they are able to supply them.
I would say either reply back and ask for your request to be escalated. Or, it might depend what subject you filed your support ticket under. I filed mine under “in-game item.”

I hardly think it would be problematic to give away a limited number to each player since people are going to start putting skins on their items like crazy (I know I probably will). Can you imagine how many charges they are going to sell to accounts that have a legendary?
There has to be some reason these were removed so soon after they told us to use them to split items to get the stats back. – other than bad communication, I hope.

Sound like they didn’t really understand what you were asking for.
You could try opening a thread in the account issues forum and see if you can get a response that way.
And i still think it is really weird that they told us to use a splitter in the blog only to remove the splitters less than a week later – that is just odd.

Well they never answered my questions regarding transmutted ascended armors(like say with a dungeon skin) so I know if I should buy and use a splitter(back when it was available) so I can move around my ascended set freely.
It’d be a waste if it wouldn’t be account bound because I have the skin of an exotic on my ascended armor post patch.

Seeing as your item has the stats of the ascended, thus it has the quality of an ascended armor (purple), I don’t see any reason why it would not become account bound after the 15th.
In the example they gave (mentioned above stating you would want to use a splitter) it was mainly because the stats selected in their example were of the basic (white) quality item with the ascended appearance, and if you wanted the ascended stats back then you would need to split it from the white item.

@ izaya -My situation seems similar you what you describe – (ascended) armor piece with down graded stats (to exotic).

Update: from todays patch notes:
“…Transmutation Splitters will continue to work on items that were transmuted before the April 2014 Feature Pack….” From that I would say it means we can split them after the patch to get the original stats back
Patch launches.. no splitters in the gem store.. Any ascended gear with transmuted stats is now un recoverable to its original stats…It would have been nice if they told us this, with out secretly removing the splitters, so we are all screwed..

If you put in a support ticket, they will supply a Splitter (I’ve seen other posts here that stated as much).
