People are completely missing the point of this thread…

I don’t think anyone is arguing that the things in the gem store aren’t good… the issue is that ALL the new content is only attainable through the gem store… which would be absolutely fine if this was a f2p game… but we paid $60 for this game (and some people paid even more for the collectors edition) only to be locked out of all the new additions

This very much seems like the case of having your cake and eating it too for ANet… they want to charge people for the game but also use the f2p business model by reserving any sort of desirable new content for the gem store

Either charge people for the game but then add items that could be just as easily attained just by playing the game or just make this f2p and be kings of the cash shop

There’s nothing to suggest there that all of the new upcoming content will be available through the gem store. The OP links to a post that is about upcoming gem store items. Naturally everything on that list is going to be available in the gem store, and it doesn’t contain anything that isn’t. Yeesh.
