Given the higher exchange rate for gold, the use of real world money is more of a requirement for more casual gamers (plan was successful I see) however the value for money is horrendous. Consider the cost of the game but for this example I’m going to use black lion chests.

In short, I can buy a scratch card for less money with a higher chance to win something. 8 quid for a new character slot or full skin and 6 for a few more spaces on the bank is now appealing for casual purchases. They instead represent considered purchases excluding younger players by making it just out of reach.

In short, you want to do more business? Lower the price of gems

That’s what sale discounts are for.

Anet has enough customers buying keys to not need to lower the price for them. Should the chance to get something better be higher? Ideally yes, but- they will do what is best for their business.

The fact they even give you a currency exchange to get gems other then buying them- is a privilege, not a right. If you cannot afford to buy gems with RM$, then save up for them with gold.

So you took the absolutely worst example of what’s available in the Gem Store to “prove” your point?

I consider the price of Gems to be alright. It takes me about 40 minutes of RL work (or writing messages like this) to get 800 gems (after taxes), which can buy me a nice set of armor skins. Compare to grinding around 35 gold which I doubt anyone will be doing in 40 minutes of playing the game.
