Anyway…they need to remove them all, or re-release ALL cultural armour in the gem store or wherever.
I would like to see cultural armor available to all races. I do not understand the point of it being race specific. Anyone care to explain the relevance of said limitation?
Clipping and/or lack of meshes for non-humanoid to humanoids and vice versa.
I was hoping they’d keep it on the market. Removing the armor wasn’t the solution….

Clipping is already there for sets of armor. I do understand it would take work to make it visually “ok”. That is more of an excuse than a real answer.
@DeWolfe
No, I do not believe it is a solution. Should the grenth helm in the store be removed since it is a piece of human culture? Im not a gw lore buff so that comment may come back to bite me.

The same reason Order-based armor is restricted: Flavor differentiation. By giving each race specific sets of exclusive outfits, characters can express their unique cultural heritage. Similar to how we have race-specific skills, the cultural gear is another knob for making each race feel distinct from the others.
It’s a decision that requires a certain amount of balance, because it’s bad to lock off too many options from players (since that’s potentially wasted assets,) but also appealing to have some, since it can make the players who get them more invested in the look and the culture. If I’m wearing cultural armor, dungeon armor, Order armor, etc., I’m probably going to feel more of an affinity or association with that part of the world, even if I’m not a serious roleplayer.
Not everyone is going to be satisfied with that, of course; that’s what makes it a balancing act. But I’d say it’s a reason worth consideration.
Well, order armor is irrelevant. It’s trans mutable. My human priory warrior has vigil leggings, and it looks good!
What abot mjolnir and the fire GS?
If you want those you should play an elementalist …….
The lore excuse doesn t make any sense….there are many of situations where that rule won t be applied…..
Anet just gave in to complaints from people that felt their T3 was devaluating….another pointless excuse……

I almost added a P.S. in anticipation of someone pointing that out, hah. Personally, I think Order armor should be restricted to characters who have actually joined that order, for flavor reasons; if I’m in the navy, I’m not going to go about wearing an air force uniform. There are exceptions, and there are lots of unusual cases that can be imagined, but I think the restrictions are, generally, good for the flavor of the game.
Given the hoops you had to jump through it (Vigil character joins order, buys armor, transmutes onto white armor, Priory character transmutes onto armor,) I’m going to reason that it’s more of an oversight or loophole than how order armor is intended to work. Cultural armor, by contrast, only has models for the intended race, so it requires a more robust system to keep it off of other characters.

This thread needs more pictures. Have some of my necro! *Throws in some male pictures as they are lacking
It seems everyone has forgotten about this unfairiness…. Not a word from Anet when the new skin will be ready, I’m sure their designers have already determines time frames.
No nobody forgot….
But since this game is all but fair i think many just gave up and decided how to react.
Its only a game, and with the change of direction in development there was also a change of the community.
I would expect a more fair behavior from devs…but to tell the truth the community was the worse delusion……
Yes, I already decided that for now I will not buy gems with real world money (I’ve been doing this almost every month). Who knows what the community will be whining about again next time? There’s no safety now buying anything in BLTC
Yup well all the spiteful people who are in T3 don’t want you spending 20g less than them for a fiery T3 do they?! Oh dear lord 20g Less! Or $10 which would exchange into enough gold to buy half of the T3 anyway!
Oh well. Friendly Gw2 community? I think not. I love the flamekissed light and human T3, to me their different.
I think the main reason why people were against it, was because every other race had access to T3 HUMAN CULTURAL gear, what is the point in having CULTURAL gear when other races can get one that is not only prettier but easier to get.

This is the only valid reason to take it down in my opinion. However, by the same logic, why not just every other race’s cultural armor available as well? I’d love to see, for example, a Lightning version of the Norn Heavy Armor. Or an icy version of any of the Sylvari armors. Dark Versions of the Asura Armor would be amazing, I’d totally get a necromancer a Dark Asuran tier 3.
I guess the main issue is that these armors would have to be released in waves. I still think they’d be amazing and that players would love them. I mean, you may pay less in terms of gold to gems and all, but you also don’t get credit towards certain achievements either, so I don’t see a huge problem there.
I wish Anet would at least give us an ETA on the redesign or a sneak preview or something.
We know nothing’s going to be done between now and the 21st of January either way, and with other living stories and content they’ll be busy coming up with, I somehow feel the redesign isn’t going to happen for a loooooong time. And whilst I love my flamekissed armor on my male elementalist, I’m the sort of person that hates not knowing about when things are happening – like when my parents tell me on THE day guests arrive or like 10 minutes before. Same applies here, I hate not knowing.
I think the current design should remain as an upgrade for cultural tier 3 human armor for like 60g, so people can keep the old look.

This is exactly what anet doesn’t want though. There have been pushes to make all cultural armor available to any race. I personally would love the heavy norn t3 on my human. The asuran t3 is awesome too. But, time and time again they have stated that these armors are and will stay for their own races.
It’s the contradiction that was the problem. And if this stayed in place, it would have opened up a huge can of worms for the rest of the armors.
And this fix is taking way too long. All they have to do is take a skin they already have and throw some flames on it. It’s not like any of the flamekiss armors were original designs. All three of them should have been scrapped and refunded for their laziness.
Yes, I love my Flamekissed set! Please Anet, make it so we can somehow create this armor. I’ve suggested a few times to turn it into a mystic forge recipe, and to do the same for other cultural armors. I’ll miss it when it’s gone!
Hopefully, if they implement the Legendary Dye suggestions that have become popular in the CDI thread, we’ll be able to create effects similar to this on any armor set.
That skin was epic and I wish I had bought it while I had the chance. I have no clue why there were so many complaints about it. I have a full set of T3 light human armor already and had no issue with this skin. The overall look is different.

I’m quite happy with my character’s design, but thanks for voicing your opinion.

I was just joking your character model is fine, you just didn’t finish your pintos and cornbread is all
Nice Armour there
Sweethearts, no one forgot about anything. The next content patch simply isn’t coming out before January 21st, and the folks at Anet kind of deserve their holiday break as well.
Patience.

I wouldn’t mind one bit if they forgot about it forever

I suppose an option to decide which skin you’d like to keep would be best Personally, I hate the human T3 light set (look! boobies!), so I’m rather excited for what they come up with. Nevertheless, I can understand people who want to keep exactly what they paid for.
