I’d have put 8/10 to the elementalist, since i can’t have enough of charr-based puns.

For Oro Blanco, 5/10, that’s an armour-based nickname, not the name that was given to this Charr on his birth. Too easy. You don’t get to choose your name, as one particular member of my Charr stable knows too well…

=====

Our Charr had the misfortune of being born during the visit of an asuran commercial delegation well intent of selling some of Rata Sum’s latest inventions to the Black Citadel. One of those inventions was a customisable stone carving golem that they managed to push into the Black Citadel Birth Register on a free trial (the golem would deactivate itself after 30 days). As our black and red ball of fur was born, his proud sire went on his merry way to declare the birth of “Ragnar” (voted most popular cub name at the time by ‘Furball Magazine’ that year).

Unknownst to him, the Charr Stone Carver’s Guild, incensed at the possibility of losing their contract of exclusivity with the Birth
Register, had been plotting the demise of the asuran invention. Having captured a random passing-by Asura, they managed to convince him to give them basics in golem operations in exchange of showing him the way to the Bane PoI which he needed for his 100% map completion. With this information, the CSCG then sent a young-but-promosing novice to sabotage the golem, telling him it was his mandatory
initiation quest, and throwing an underleveled piece of gear (unusable by his class) as a reward should he succeed – which he did – to disconnect the pattern input console from the CPU (Carving Processing Unit).

As our cub’s sire entered the Birth Register at 9:28AM (it officialy opens at 9, but that’s only when they start to have their coffee, and if you’re unhappy about that, have fun trying to make that point to the public sector unions), he was the first Charr to declare a newborn on this fateful day. After filling out the paperwork and waiting patiently for the union-mandated coffee-break, he then spelled “Ragnar” to the Birth Register attendant, which entered it on the golem’s pattern input console, before activating it to immor
talize the new member of the Charr society in the beloved Stone of Births.

Now, Asuran technology, when well-designed and quality controlled, has lots of failsafes and redundant mechanisms to avoid embarassin
g failures. But due to the then economic hardship, the latest Rata Sum budget had felt it wise to drastically cut spending on public research, leading to a number of underfunded projects. In order to meet the deadlines, the typical process was to hire more Ph.Ds and
getting them scared enough of not graduating that they adapt to 2h sleep per night. The downside of course, was that though deadline
s were met, QC was generally thrown out of the window.

As fate would have it, that happened to be the case of the stone carving golem, who, unable to detect the presence of the pattern inp
ut console, produced the corresponding (and correct) error message, just not on the correct output. And there, in the hallowed Stone
of Births, it engraved “Keyboard Not Found”.

As one can imagine, the cub’s sire was not impressed. Multiplying the letters, administrative forms, petitions and other bribes, he f
inally had, to his great shame, to admit defeat. It is said that even on his death-bed, he was still cursing as to why good Charrs had died in droves pushing back and vanquishing the Flame Legion when “All we had to do was send them the Black Citadel Administration, if they weren’t on strike, and Flame’d have surrendered”.

This is the story of a cub that grew to be known as Ragnar only to his closest friends.
This, is the story of Keyboard Not Found of the Blood Legion.

My warrior is Taryk Ironclaw. Though he’s smart and has a keen eye for tactics, he typically uses brute force to get the job done.
My Engineer is Artico Steelfang. He realized that he was getting to be too old and frail to be on thr front lines anymore, and so he started tinkering with guns and the like. He’s wise, but kind of crazy.

Mister Cuddles, for the fun/funny name I’d give it a 7/10, certainly not terribly original but I do enjoy fearsome hell-beasts with cute names. As for how well it fits a charr I’d rate it lower probably about 5/10, though I could totally see it happening in universe, I mean we have a pretty awesome charr named Dinky so why not Cuddles too?

Fiera Scorchweaver is my engineer who is a total pyromaniac with the flamethrower. While not the most devoted soldier she loves nothing more than finding new and inventive ways to incinerate and/or explode the enemy.

Argus Grimfang is my mesmer who can probably best be summed up as, “one brutal S.O.B.” In his own words, “I don’t need my magic to flay you alive, it’s just more fun this way.”

Cael Deathrend, lady warrior and champion of the Blood Legion. As long as you respect her, you don’t have to worry about being gutted. Hopefully.
Valkar Spitefang, necromancer. That pretty much sums it up.
Lionguard Krizak, guardian. Decided to leave his warband after promoting a new legionnaire and follow a higher calling. Still holds ties to the Iron Legion but spends most of his time protecting civilian settlements.
Kyessa Flintstrike, engineer. She learned how to use fire for her inventions early on in the fahrar and now puts her abilities to good use for the Iron Legion.
Seva the Beguiling, thief. As the name suggests she’s as charming and witty as she is manipulative. Don’t let the pretty face of this Siamese-coloured Charr fool you.
Marren Glitterpelt, mesmer. Because let’s face it, there’s no real way to take a Charr shooting purple butterflies seriously. That never gets Marren down though!

I posted earlier on this thread about Doroga Icemaul (warrior), but I recently created a new Charr, and therefore must add a new entry to this thread.

Celia Shadowstitch (thief). A member of the logistics portion of Iron Legion. Anything that the legion is short of, she can get. Her fahrar was particularly adept at leatherworking and tailoring and thereby was named the -stitch Warband. She didn’t want to spend the rest of her life back near the quartermaster’s tent so she used her knowledge of knots (etc) to render her marks helpless.

But 0/10 because it is not a Charr name.

My Charr is Kaargoth Bloodhand. The son of a ex-Tribune, Seng War-Rage, who now taught a well known Charr-jutsu school to the Fahrar. Seng taught Kaargoth Bloodhand Charr-jutsu and the mastery of weapons to prepare Kaargoth for Blood Legion duty. Due to hard discipline and work, Kaargoth placed the top of his fahrar in combat and leadership. He was placed into the Blood Warband, but his peers gave him the title of Hand because they believed that his father held up his paw like a human holding hands of another, they saw Kaargoth as weak. This quickly changed after the first assignment. Kaargoth fought more ferociously than his warband and completed the mission with ease. Battles over battles, Kaargoth was respected more and more by his peer and became Legionnaire after the old Legionnaire died for attempting to out-popularize Kaargoth by over-extending himself in battle. This put the Blood warband in disarray and Kaargoth quickly seized leadership and defeated the foes. Although the deceased Legionnaire made this mistake that costed the lives of the Warband, Kaargoth honored him for doing his duty for the Blood Legion.

My Charr’s name: Marrkus Highburn

Short Bio: An Iron Legion Engineer, son of Klementus Highburn who is a Flame Legion shaman. Marrkus seeks to bring in his father to justice in his own way, by fighting fire with fire, except his will be through the power of technology (aka Guns and Flamethrower) rather than the mystic way. A rather fierce and hot-tempered Charr, he believes the need to overpower most problems by force. A very talented sharpshooter and somewhat a pyromanic (loves setting his enemies on fire and watching them burn alive)! He is pretty much a chip of the old block, similar to his father in almost very way except 2 things that sets him apart… his loyalty to the Iron Legion and the believe in technology over magic.

My thief is Kirok Emberclaw, legionnaire of the Ash Legion and the Ember warband, and sired by a former Flame Legion shaman and a lowly dolyak herder. He inherited a bit of magic from his father (as some of the thief’s abilities seem magical in nature, especially shadowstepping) but he keeps those talents subtle and quiet. He is a pragmatist and sees magic as just another weapon in a soldier’s arsenal, hence why he’s recruited several magic-users into his warband (Euryale and Yahuk Fellstrike, in particular from the personal story).

My charr name is Ghost Ripshroud, from the Ash legion.

Everything makes Ghost an outcast. He is a very small charr. He isn’t overly muscular. His name comes from his pristine white fur that shines brightly under light, almost glowing (if you have bloom turned on, pure white characters seems to emit a ghost-like aura). He also has coffee brown hair and pale eyes. There are also rumors that Ghost’s father might be an honorless gladium.

Being small like his friend Dinky, he was always bullied and mocked upon, and his distinctive coloring made the subject of numerous puns about his ability to accomplish any covert operations for the Shroud warband… But Ghost is very loyal to his friends, and ruthless to his foes. The mockeries stopped the day of the “accident”: during a sparring practice, a bad cut on a tendon crippled the most annoying bully. No one really knows if Ghost did it on purpose or not, but from that day on, he was known as Ghost Ripshroud.

Badr The Tyrant

guardian and i love it

I’d be interested in the backstory, as a Charr “Tyrant” would likely have an interesting relationship to their military hierarchy. Anyway, 8/10, because I’m not sure how to pronounce “Badr”.

So my first Charr, Griever Stormlion, has already been rated. But I just made a second. I got the name Griever from Final Fantasy 8 – he was a “secret” Summon Monster, a huge blue winged lion with horns, who is summoned by the final boss instead of being available for players to summon. It turns out, Final Fantasy 9 had a similar lion-like hidden summon. Eiko Carol’s ultimate summon is Madeen, a huge marshmallow colored winged cat monster who spent most of the game hiding out as Mog, a Moogle.

So the character is Madeen Cinderthorn. She was forbidden from learning to fight, but taught herself Elemental Magic by watching the Shamans in secret. When she was caught practicing, she deserted and fled Flame Legion territory, narrowly escaping death. The Ash Legion took her in, and she joined the Thorn Warband, taking Cinder as the other part of her name as a reminder to her former kin that she is every bit as formidable of an Elementalist as a formally trained Flame Shaman.

I’ve got a third, an Engineer (Griever was originally the Engineer but recently became a Guardian), but I’m still on the fence about his name. I’ll only post him if he makes it to 20+ without being rerolled.

Griever doesn’t exactly sound like what a Charr parent would name their child, but I suppose it could work if said Charr was a burden to his parents! Stormlion is an interesting concept and mixture, so I like it.

Madeen Cinderthorn: 9/10
Her back story is very interesting and her name fits perfectly with the usual types, so it rates highly with me.

I recently created a Charr elementalist named “Titus Firebrand”.

Titus is a Latin name meaning “fire” or “to burn”, which fits in perfectly with his element of choice: fire. Firebrand comes from the Brand warband that was stationed to patrol the Brand area. Once again, Fire comes into play here (perhaps a bit redundant).

7/10 sounds like a vampire hunting seasoning (garlic preyseeker)

Mine is a Minion Master Necro named Krag Corpsemaker.
Does what it says on the tin.

I believe in a long, prolonged, derangement of the senses in order to obtain the unknown.

I like Krag, it sounds very charr to me. I like Corpsemaker too, but it sounds more like a title or nickname (given by the other folks in you warband, perhaps) than an actual name.

My charr is engineer Kronn Hornmelter of the Iron Legion. His adventure started when he was accepted into the Horn warband at young age, where he and his flamethrower soon earned quite a reputation.

Allright, so there WERE some… “unfortunate incidents” before Kronn learned to master the flamethrower kit properly, but most of it could be covered up for by blaming the Flame Legion. However, eventually the “incidents” became so many that his warband leader, Harrk Hornclaw, strongly encouraged Kronn to test out explosives instead of all this fire stuff. After all, he considered it less risky for both Kronn himself and for anyone else in the immediate vicinity.

Poor old Harrk. May his pieces rest in peace.

I get the sneaking suspicion that Horn warband would’ve combusted before melting, and that Kronn may not have been greatly appreciated by his unnaturally black-furred comrades, but even so, fair name with a reason for the name. 8/10

I have two, but I’ll just bother with my Blood Legion warrior, “Charrolus Magnus”.

8/10 for Charrolus Magnus, overall it’s a nice name and I like the latin-esque vibe to it, and it fits rather well on a Charr, be it Warrior or not.

So, my Charr’s name is Galogon Fireborn, a Charr Elementalist. The name Galogon is pretty much a play on my name’s letters. I’ll also share with you my version of his personal (albeit very extensive) story. If by any chance someone manages to read it all the way to the end, well, I hope it is, at the very least, entertaining

Born in Hrangmer, even as a cub, Galogon was very prone to magic.
Living within the walls of the citadel, he was raised as an acolyte amongst the most powerful and influential zealots, instructed in that of the ancient rituals and forbidden ways, following their ideals, values and beliefs, in pursuit of mastering the flames of darkness. Very early, Galogon’s hatred was strong towards all those who opposed the Flame Legion. As such, his destiny seemed sealed right from the very beginning – to become a murderous, shaman outcast of the Flame Legion.

As a young legionnaire, Galogon was sent to work with the Flame Legion forces in the front, at the Flame Citadel. One day, a small army of charrs in allegiance with the Blood Legion, commanded by Rytlock Brimstone – a very prominent charr, tribune of the Black Citadel – reached the surroundings of the citadel, and an intense battle erupted. A large platoon of legionnaires was abruptly assembled – mostly composed of younger ones, Galogon among them – and even though they outnumbered the enemy invaders, the lack of skill and experience was obvious, and fatal. Brutal and fearsome, the Blood Legion’s prowess in combat proved too much. They were completely overrun.

Bedazzling!

Severely injured, Galogon survived but was captured and taken into the Black Citadel. In a twist of fate, a major concussion ended with him losing his memory, leaving him completely clueless, knowing nothing but his first name – written in a necklace he carried. Because intel-gathering from him wasn’t possible, he no longer served any purpose as a prisoner of war, he was deemed worthless by the Ash Legion, and sentenced to death.
In the night before his execution, on a whim, Rytlock took a walk to the depths of the Citadel Stockade to check on the prisoners. Walking by Galogon’s jail, he stopped, and peaked inside. In the back, he saw but a shadowy figure, sitting. Raising his hand, a small flame erupted, illuminating the once darkened prison. Then, looking right back at Rytlock, Galogon whispered: “Whoever I once was, nothing but a glimpse of it remains. I yield the power of the flame, but the flame owns me no more. A past best left forgotten. I won’t beg for my life, it is yours to control. But I don’t want to forfeit it either. If you’re willing, give me the opportunity and I’ll fight for you, for your legion and your cause, even if it means butchering every single one of my kin. I’ll prove myself, not as a burden, but as a valuable asset.”
Rytlock, aware of Galogon’s condition, gazed into his eyes as if looking into his soul, searching for evidence. He saw no fear, no shame, no helplessness, and certainly, no evil. All he ever saw was burning determination, and a strong desire to live. Then, Rytlock said to him, chuckling: “Well well, who would’ve thought? You’re a brave and lively one, kiddo. That attitude of yours, I like it! Well then, what should I do with you? Hmmrrr…”

Decided to give him a chance, Rytlock consulted with the other tribunes and the imperator of the Blood Legion, merely to let them know of his decision: to take Galogon under his care as a trainee, raising him as one of his own – a warrior of the Blood Legion.
Galogon’s friendship with Rytlock grew stronger over the years, and he eventually started looking up to him as this brave, fearless hero, a role model he wished to follow.

But life wasn’t easy for Galogon. Even though he was given a place among the Blood Legion, he wasn’t readily accepted, and never really fit within – at first, fellow legionnaires always saw him as nothing but Rytlock’s protégée, or as spoilage of war, completely ignoring him. To make things worse, Galogon wasn’t very skilled with heavy weapons and artillery, and instead dwelled in magic, training to achieve mastery of the elements, making him even more of an outcast.

A few years later, they started calling him “the Fireborn”, as if alluding to his dreadful past and his affinity for fire. Still, he never really faltered, and eventually adopted the name Fireborn as a form of acknowledgement, and a reminder of the past he pledged never to go back to. In time, though, he and his magic proved to be very valuable assets in the front-lines. From the heavy support and tanking capabilities, to his intellectual prowess and deadly offensive skills, his burning spirit and fierceness was infectious. Even if some legionnaires still wouldn’t accept him as one of their own, nevertheless, he was now mostly respected.

In time, certain events were set in motion. From Galogon joining a warband of loyal warriors, to his own father, a former Flame Legion shaman, making contact with him, all part of an effort to fight head-on the Flame Legion. Eventually, bigger life-threatening issues appeared, and Galogon Fireborn saw himself having to rise and be the Hero that everyone needed him to be, fulfilling his one and true destiny.

Bedazzling!

9/10 – I love me a good story~ Sadly, given how its 4 in the morning and I finally started to headdesk my keyboard in the midst of 100%ing my map after a 5 month quit for bugs to be fixed – I can’t think of one kitten thing to make a RP kinda post for my Charr just yet! Someday~ I had one. Just can’t remember it on a sleep-coma

My Charr’s name is Chronas Frostfur. For starters, Chronas has been my username for just about, well, everything. Except for the rare occassions where someone steals my name

Since reading how Charr have last names based on their warbands, I chose Frost for Chronas, since in previous games whenever i played a mage I enjoyed the water/ice attuned spells than anything else. And my previous game, Aion, I was a Sorcerer that tended to subconsciously knock someone out via ice in the face than an inferno straight off the bat. (or in the latter terms, a Glacial Shard in the face now!) So, Frostfur felt suitable.

Ironically enough, after making a condition build, I tend to stick more to bleeds! haha. Silly Earth Attunement!

8/10. I like the name; Frostfur gives me the mental image of a Charr with glittering snowy fur (not unlike what you might see when you walk outside after a fresh round of snow). Chronas sounds cool, however, I can’t shake the feeling that it isn’t very Charr-esque, not to mention it reminds me of Chrono Trigger.

On my side, I’ve got Cha’Kaam. I don’t really have any reason for making it, it just kind of sounded decent while I was running through syllables in my head for a while. I had a name planned out before I made the character, but it was taken ( ) along with any variation of it I could think of.

If it makes any difference, he’s a Charr engineer. I’d like to think he is very dignified, being loyal to his race/government and warband. He has a nack for guns and turrets but is unable to use explosives effectively, and secretly wishes he knew how to use heavy melee-type weapons.

Cha’Kaam 5/10. It sounds cool and it does fit an engineer—but it doesn’t follow charr naming conventions, so it seems out of place for a charr.

My recent character is Raigra Gorebutcher. She’s not very smart, but she’s a bully who enjoys pushing her weight around and getting involved in violence. She’s one of my other charr’s underlings—chosen because she’s easily controlled.
