Crafting while leveling
The crafting tiers tend to move in blocks of 75. For example, Jeweler levels 0 – 74 utilise Copper Ore, but starting at 75 it starts to use Silver Ore. Starting at level 150, Gold Ore becomes the primary material, and so on.
As a rule of thumb, the crafting tiers correspond to the following character levels:
T1 = level 1 – 20.
T2 = level 21 – 35.
T3 = level 36 – 50.
T4 = level 51 – 65.
T5 = level 66 – 80.
T6 = level 80+ (at this stage, you’ll be crafting primarily Exotics, and maybe Rares if you want to sell them).
Note that you gain levels quite rapidly in GW2, so you’ll most likely outstrip your ability to craft matching equipment for your character very quickly. In GW2, crafting should be seen as more of a side-hobby/mini-game than as a requirement to keep your character outfitted in level-appropriate gear. In general, it’s much more profitable to simply sell the materials used for crafting than selling the finished product.
I have 7 chars at 80. One thing I started doing is started crafting chef first on all of them. Not just for the crafting experience, but for the statistical bonus’ from the food that make the open world easier and the +10, +10% and +%15 experience from kills bonus experience.
Also, check a list of base materials required for each discipline. Leather, for instance, is highly common in human areas so if thats the area your playing in, you might be best doing leatherworker.
Also consider what class you are and see if that class will benefit from that crafting profession. This might allow you to equip some crafted gear which, once again, make open world just that little bit easier.
IMO, hit chef staight away. The above post covers alot of what you want to know though.
Don’t do it! You will spend more time and money than it is worth. Check the prices of the materials you will need to craft items as you level. At every stage you will spend far more money than simply buying the item of the TP. You can still farm mats, but sell them and buy the product. Crafting is completely broken in GW2!!
