This is just a simple question: Has Anet changed the ectoplasm salvage rate? For the past several weeks I have noticed allot less ecto.

You’ve most likely run a string of bad luck. I’ve gotten my avg over the past bit (but I only salvage maybe 100 a week tops). Those that salvage thousands+ would have made threads already if the rate dropped.

I have the same feeling, something changed..

People with more money have shown time and time again that, NO it hasn’t been changed.

Regardless of what the others have said, it is possible. It has happened in the past w/o anet knowing (so they say), so there is a precedent for it occurring.

In this case who knows.

See siggy for link to my data so far. I’ve done about 300 since I last updated it, and my global average has actually gone up a bit (from about 0.878 to 0.881). Currently running on a streak of 14 consecutive non-zero salvages, which is one away from breaking my current longest streak.

Short answer: salvage rates aren’t broken. As others said, there are plenty of people who salvage by the thousands and will notice a change like this within a day or two. The last (and only) time they broke salvage rates, someone posted their data within a day to bring attention to the devs. If you only do small scale salvaging, there’s no reason to worry if you occasionally have a bad streak.

Edited to add: I salvage anywhere from about 100-200 rares per week. If rates were broken, it would’ve skewed my current overall rate noticeably. I just checked the averages manually and mine are higher (0.91) for the most recent set of 100, and I know I’ve done at least 100 since the last update. Absolutely nothing to worry about. When in doubt, track your salvages. I used to be a conspiracy theorist on this until I started crunching numbers myself.

You’ve probably noticed a lot less ectos because you have a lot less rares. With the megaserver changes it is very hard to get rares now. Less Rares = Less ectos.

The salvage rate itself is unchanged though.

As people said, you just had a bad luck streak.

I no longer salvage any Ecto possible items without a BL salvage kit. I saw the suggestion here and started using them (I have about a dozen in my bank from key farming) instead of Mystic Kits (I normally use) and have seen a dramatic increase in Ectos. Nothing I have seen in my salvaging indicates any kind of stealth-nerf if that is what you are implying.

Could just be RNG colored glasses I’m wearing…..

Can the mods please sticky an Ecto thread so that people will stop making them every 2 days? I’d prefer to keep all the “I rolled a die once and it landed on 6, did they nerf 1?” threads in one place if possible.

Only if it includes all the posts about people spending $XXX on <insert random item box from living story> to not get anything because they don’t know anything about basic probability. I remember from Dragon Bash someone spent ~$150 on the gem store dragon coffers within 5 min of the patch and complained about not getting anything (don’t get me wrong that really does suck, but at the same time he did no research).

OK, Poor luck it is. I knew that mega server caused some rares to become rarer(sic?) and that would affect me, but there were times when i would salvage 15 rares a day and only get 5 ecto out of the whole lot. i salvage all my rares just before logging out so i see as a whole what im getting. and 15 rares generally mean 15 ecto to me. well for the past 2 months about it seems to be 15 rares make 5 ecto. i know RNG and all that, i take several research methods classes in college so i under stand all this. but to me it just seemed TOO far off the normal to ask around.

I am seriously considering putting a hold on my key farming until the Dragon Coffers get taken out as one of the 4 items from BL Chests….. those things give HORRIFIC rewards.

They are a bonus item. Without them you get 3 items not an alternate item. Idk who buys them but you can sell them for 10s on the tp, so consider it a take it or leave it10s bonus.

They still drop JAde Weapon Tickets, hence the price tag of 10s.

or just save your keys for the next promo. every other month keys give a bonus per chest. If you don’t like coffers, save your keys for when it gives trick-or-treat bags or marvelous gifts or a chance at a unique mini.

Wish I had known the coffers would be taken out today…..would have saved my recent keys.

At buy orders between 25-27s and ectos hitting 44s, they do.

How is the dust market these days?
