It wouldn’t suprise me if this weapon is currently bugged and therefor not avaible in the game. Could we get a dev to check it out if it’s actually currently obtainable?

I’m starting to think that the drop rate on this thing is bugged. It’s just standard staff with no particle effects yet its currently one of the rarest weapons in the game?

My bet this might drop from Risen Priestess of Lyssa chest in Malchor’s Leap. Cathedral of Eternal Radiance where she spawning is a huge ossuary (final resting place of Lyssa followers in Orr). In personal story mission it is also guarded with gargoyle guardians.

Has anyone figured this out yet? It’s been a few days.

Don’t you think I’ve forgotten about this weapon, waiting on an official response if it actually exists and drops in the game since I have yet to see anyone with it or on the Trading Post.

all we seem to know at this point is that it drops from a ‘large chest’. however which chest, the drop rate or even if it is bugged is currently unknown.

I am going to say that this staff is either bugged or has yet to be implemented into the game for one simple reason. If you search “final rest” on the black lion market there are no results. If you just search “final” some weapons appear, but non of them are said staff

That just means no one has listed one on the TP, apparently it doesn’t have entries unless it’s been listed.

For the love of God, why is it the one staff I actually like is impossible to get? We can’t give up on this, hopefully we can get a word from a dev.

BTW, re the Eye of Zhaitan, it doesn’t even have a chest for completing it, so I doubt that the staff drops from there. I completed it last night, no chest. Just thought I’d give a heads up that it’s not worth fighting the Eye at all if you’re trying for this staff.

I don’t get it… there’s got to be something we’re missing about this weapon. I mean every other item in the game has been farmed to death and seen time and time again, including legendaries at this point. So why would this one exotic weapon be so mysterious AND BoA instead of BoE like nearly any other item?

Big chests= dragon or Orr chests. So Balthazar, Grenth etc.
And yes, like ChairGraveyard said, the drop rate is 0.000000000000000000000000000000000001% . Wield one will be more exclusive than wield a legendary. As much is a stupid bugged weapon with double scythe when a necro use it, no effects at all, nothing you will notice if not randomly looking at that guy. One player on this planet will maybe get one, with the current pathetic droprate.

This is 100% false. The Final Rest item code clearly says “Soulbound on use.” I have no idea where you found that the Final Rest says bind on acquire.

I am quite certain that its dropped in Zho’qafa Catacombs – Straits of Devestation.
It would be the only tomb-like “Final Rest athmosphere” location in Orr which hasn’t been farmed to oblivion. It’s hidden and probably nobody does that extremely awesome event chain in there.

Well, basically its a deceptively easy looking “solo event” which in reality lets you fight a champion ranged Ooze and a champion Abomination, I once solo’d the Abomination which resulted in a next event which was correctly labeled as a group event spawning an Eye of Zhaitan. Well, see if you can organise something and complete the chain, if theres a chest you will know that it might drop the staff.

Wish I could farm it and sell it for more than precursors
Of course, all of this is hypothetical, kill it and see and then sell me the staff for my mesmer if you happen to get it ^^

edit for Dev’s if one stumbles upon this post – there are bots running around in the aforementioned Catacombs, I want to see ban hammers patrolling.

Location is south of the Temple of Balthazar btw.
It’s an underground burial/tomb.

For the sake of research I did the event chain, solo.
It consists of 1 champion blue Ooze (got help from randoms here)
1 champion Abomination (solo)
1 champion purple Eye of Zhaitan (solo)

It gives you a Glorious Chest not sure if temples give Glorious chests as well.
All of this has led me to believe with 99% certainty that this is the chest we’re looking for. Attachements contain images with proof, also, Eye of Zhaitan is a custom Eye and very difficult without abusing LOS like I did.

For the people trying to get the staff – you need a guild, abomination and Eye can be done solo but Ooze cannot, groups will also speed up the process (took me 2 hours).
Mechanics for the Eye:

- It does an aoe spreading green mist which ticks for 2k
- It spawns regular risen, notably wizards with blinds and purifiers with pulls.
- It has the Laser Eye of doom like the other Eye’s.
- There are dead risen corpse landmines (like in Arah explorer) on the ground.
- At 40% the Eye heals itself to full hp if it can hit anything (probably on a fixed cd so you need a minimum amount of dps)
- At 25% the Eye gets a berserk buff increasing damage.
- When I killed it the Eye didn’t do any attacks on me (LOS abuse), it might have more mechanics.

Also, can Linsey confirm it drops from that chest? I’m up for grinding something but discovery + grinding is a bit meh.

And a reply with me killing the Eye whilst abusing LOS.
Can you add multiple pictures/attachments to the same reply?

PS. I did not get the staff, it’s not a 100% droprate. I’m only sure that this is it because it’s the only boss with a chest that is remote enough to not have been killed hundreds or thousands of times in the entire GW2 world, and its in Orr.

PPS. This is a different Eye than the one south of the temple of Dwayna. There are 2 more bosses spawning in the catacombs, Veteran Noble and Veterean Wraith, both are pretty hardcore to solo and I failed to do so, noble spams death blossom and wraith has regeneration plus there’s a killer veteran ghostly ranger running around. Neither Noble nor Wraith spawned any visible chests after killing them with help.

I don’t believe the Eye drops the staff, i killed him at least 3 times and i think its died more then 10,000 times from game’s release and still no one got it.
I’m pretty sure Final Rest is MF craftable, combination of gifts or statues.

It’s not the same eye, the eye in the catacombs is a different one, legendary mob and when beat a splendid chest appears, this event doesn’t appear to be as farmed as others either usually empty so it might be, I guess we should just give it sometime to farm to see if it actually drops it.

I think if Final Rest was actually craftable we would’ve already seen one on TP by now.

there is 2 Eyes of Zhaitan with big chest:
1) catacombs near Temple of Balthazar
2)catacobs near Temple of Melandru
both of them pretty farmable

It can use different gifts from more then 1 legendary weapon, or combination of them:
gift of darkness+gift of history
gift of darkness+gift of wood
wolf statue+eel statue+unicorn statue+shark statue= Gargoyle statue

I am going to have to agree with Verone’s theory. After reading her testimony, I went with my guild to do the chain events, and it does seem like an area in which is not farmed and is rarely completed. It would make since that the Final Rest would drop from a location such as this; a tomb. Morever, adding to the evidence, the chest that is spawned after the completion of this event is indeed very “LARGE”.

I am going to keep this event on farm for the next couple of weeks and see if I, or any of my guild members have any luck obtaining the Final Rest. I hope many of you will do the same on your servers. Let’s get this staff into the game.

Eye chest is no more bigger than dragon chests. Could be the chest dropping it, but i doubt. Considering how bad the loottable is programmed, this weapon probably is wrongly assigned, with an extremely low droprate, lower than precursor drops. Until when new loottable (so much promised by devs testing ) will be online, i think you all even farming that Eye chest are just wasting your time.

The odds of you finding the staff your first run through the catacombs event, or what ever event drops the staff, is highly unlikely. It is an awesome looking staff and -should- definitely be this rare, in my opinion.

I am almost 100% sure now that the staff does drop from the Glorious Chest from this event in Straits of Devastation. The Legendary Eye of Zhaitan, upon spawning, even says something along the lines of “How dare you disturb my RESTING PLACE”

The NPCs talk all the way to the end about finding things of value and the escort is to help these NPCs find -hidden artifacts-.

Not only are these pieces of dialogue fitting, but the environment is a tomb, with coffins all over the place. AND the chest at the end of the event is the size of the dragon chests and god events (balth, lyssa, dwayna). The dev said the staff drops from a LARGE chest. If it dropped from any of the commonly farmed event’s with big chests, it would have been found by now. This event is secluded, and for some players, I would imagine, it is actually quite difficult. Therefore, it is an event that many do not go out of their way for and have not completed.

I asked a friend of mine who came along with us today if he had ever beat this event and he said no. He gave up on the champion abomination back around when the game first came out.

I have already ran this event twice today and am planning on running it two to three times tomorrow. I have received two rares from the glorious chests, so far. One rare per run.

Your lore theory is funny, why not, keep farming ( if you find someone joining you on that place) Over all, you truly believe an entire playerbase just ignore that chest, just because who you asked said “No i never did that event”?
I did that event loads time. Loads of trash, not even rare.
As i said, you have to deal with a pathetically programmed chest loottable, and over this, i still think the droprate of this weapons is wrongly added, with a 0,0000.. droprate. I will wait the 15th update, where devs “should” have finally fixed the loottable of chests.

Why I strongly believe this staff drops from the four boss chain event in Zho’Qafa Catacombs:

1. This event is in a very secluded southern portion of Straits of Devastation. It might have been completed numerous times around the first three weeks of release, but still not nearly as much as the other major events. Many people I have done the Zho’Qafa escort with have told me that they have never done this event, nor did they even know it was down here, let alone that it spawned a glorious chest.

2. Not very many people currently farm Straits of Devastation, let alone this event. Most people farm in the Cursed Shore or Malchors Leap.

3. Besides the God events, and the dragons, this is the only event chain that I know of, in Orr, or the rest of the world, that spawns a “LARGE chest”. In other words, the chest at the end of this event is a glorious chest, which is the same chest and chest size that is spawned after killing a dragon or any of the God events. —-- If I am mistaken and there are other events that you know of drop a glorious chest, please correct me and specify the location.

If the staff is an exotic it should have the same droprate as exotics from boss chests, which is really low. Basically it needs to be farmed which people like Gempulse and I are already doing, although casually.
I’m sure it will be farmed more if there is a confirmation by someone getting it because of people wanting to pay for the skin.
It might also have a bugged droprate, Dev’s make mistakes and if it should drop from a chest doesn’t mean it will. Time will tell, I do wonder how much people would be willing to pay for it, if the droprate is as bad as precursor drops from temple chests (not sure if they’re confirmed but I’ve heard about them) then it could get to the price of precursors since you would need to split the money between your group members.

a) Well the resting place means that the giant coffin in there was the kings (the person that got transformed into the eye) resting place.
b) Gargoyles have nothing to do with orr from what we know, if they would it would be around the noth coasts and the sea (dwaynas event that just like balthazars wasnt farmed and especially not lyssas, the only “farmed” event was melandrus because all the others take 40+ people just like the gates of arah what is pretty impossible to do when there are like 2 people pre meta event location, at least that was it in the first few weeks post release).
c) Just because something is farmed doesnt mean people get what they are trying to get, like loadstones from elementals.
d) we could just be overlooking the simple fact that other world bosses (Jormag Shammy, Shadow Behemoth, Destroyer, Wurm, etc) could be dropping it, since they aint even close to as popular they could drop it.

This part is actually a bit… The eye say “resting place”not “final resting place” based on your quote. It could mean the eye takes naps there and you just woke it up.

Anyway, I got hooked on this staff….would make a great Christmas present for my necro partner….I’m sure he’d love it….so…any info would be appreciated….why are the devs being so secretive about it…..not like people are asking for it to be mailed to them…just where to spend the next xxx hours farming…for all we know, there is some very well hidden event that nobody even found….

You should consider the possibility of this weapon still not fixed on any loottable at all.
Until you read Final Rest loottable fixed on a patch note, i doubt anyone on the world will never find one.

What do you mean not fixed? They already had a dev say it drops, so as far as I have seen its not broken just people not getting it or doing the wrong events

The Dev response said that it was dropped from a LARGE boss chest.

It’s ambiguous whether they meant a large boss, or a large chest, but the phrasing and also just common sense would make me assume she meant it was the chest spawned by a LARGE boss. The emphasis with the caps makes me think, you know, a LAAARRRRGE boss. A zone boss, since they are the LARGEst.

What makes me sad is the huge lack of cool staves in the game aside from Bifrost.

Who answered could just have picked the staff reading the drop location from the database using debug menu. This doesn’t means his droprate could be broken/inexistent (but fixable). And now we have droprate back to trash-only, i highly doubt we will never see one.

The event down there is really hard, in 2/3 people we couldn’t kill the champion ooze :0

I wanted a Clear answer so I asked a GM in the support option, the GM basicly said that they cant access the item drop locations and rate and linked me to this post:

“While we’d like to be able to provide specific details for every gameplay question, there are so many different aspects of the game that it’s not always possible for us to do so. I recommend checking the Guild Wars 2 Wiki (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page).”

The rest of the thing was just a link to the strategy guide and a link to this post, so if this thing is bugged/glitched whatever GMs would not know about it and the staff is cursed to non existance.

This could even be a old game model supposed to be used in the game but were removed or maybe supposed to be wield by a npc and like all of you have said theres no1 in the game that has it no1 all events has been done MANY times all the prelegendaries have been dropped, legendaries has been made, This weapon is obviously not in the game and i would believe the picture of it is Taken within a beta version or on some type of private server.

With this i mean its basicly pointless farming specific events to get it even if its not bugged the droprate will be low the weapon is obviously not BOA since BOA is quest or vendor items EVERYTHING that drops is BoP except specific quest items or maybe things like tokens etc but EVERY equip is BoP.

Unless GMs can confirm it you shouldnt waste time, I know a dev said its from a large boss chest but that might just been like a “idk but its most likely from a Boss chest” answer, If u guys want a scythe try getting the skin or get the deathwish which also got the dead look about it.

Probably GMs don’t have access to the database to check if the item is in the game or if it’s bugged, but surely devs can. LinseyMurdock is part of the game design team, and i think it’s also her job to take care of the items and crafting in the game… so i’m sure she knows if the staff is in the game or not and if it’s working correctly…

Hope they’ll answer to this thread with some more details about the location of this large boss chest..

I wanted a Clear answer so I asked a GM in the support option, the GM basicly said that they cant access the item drop locations and rate and linked me to this post:

“While we’d like to be able to provide specific details for every gameplay question, there are so many different aspects of the game that it’s not always possible for us to do so. I recommend checking the Guild Wars 2 Wiki (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page).”

The rest of the thing was just a link to the strategy guide and a link to this post, so if this thing is bugged/glitched whatever GMs would not know about it and the staff is cursed to non existance.

Imo, this would be a very good thing to look into. I find it hard to believe that nobody on the GW2 team can access the loot tables and find out what happened to this staff. I also doubt it’d take more than 5 min to check and post the result.

And as nice as your suggestion is, this topic is about people who want this particular staff and not a vague look. There are enough “dead” staves out there(the scythe, the Halloween crafted one, the pact one and even some “racial” ones), but that’s not the issue. I want this staff…or at least I want to know if it’s possible to get it.
