I doubt the blade is soulbind on acquire (but account bound on acquire is possible). Some of these weapons (like vision of the mists) cost 250 ectos. I think anet knows if someone would try these recipes the first time only to find that they got a weapon on soulbind they couldn’t use, there would be some pretty enraged people.

Because of that, the people claiming they made one, but offering no screenshots and aren’t selling it on the TP/forums, are probably lying.

I’m going for legendary staff and since I have gift of energy laying around in the bank I figured I should just waste 50 skill point to see if gift of energy will mix with scroll

Good thing I didn’t buy gift of history. Does this mean that gift of history does not combine with the scroll either?

Velladin: If gift of energy doesn’t combine with the scroll, that DOESN’T mean that gift of history can’t combine with scroll, too.
(Here might be possiblity, that foefire’s essence doesn’t use gifts, but I think they do) Both gifts of history and of light have Gift of Ascalon in it and of Energy doesn’t have, am I right? I will ask people with gifts to try to combine them with scroll.

Edit: I’d try with gift of light as first, because it has CHARGED lodestones. Spectral weps are charged

The recipe of Foefire is:
1 Eldritch Scroll, 1 Gift of Light, 70 Mystic coin, 250 orichalcum Greatsword blade

Also, I tried Ancient Stave Longbow and Shortbow and it matched. (Sry i forgot to try Ori hammer head but should be match)

I hope these bow become Aether or Azureflame.

The recipe for IDS (old Icy Dragon Sword you mean?) is already known. Seen it somewhere @ Crafting forums. As far as I remember it doesn’t need any Gifts. It was kinda cheap actually = 50ish g.

The recipe’s been found (good job btw!), but any idea what the hints were supposed to be? It seems the hints themselves are even more elusive.

If you know the lore, the connection between the Gift of Ascalon and a Foefire weapon is obvious, but I didn’t come across any “hints” that would point you in that direction.

Volcanus may well follow a similar recipe but rather than gift of light it uses vial of quick silver (i.e. the gift for daggers which needs gift of balfaer etc).

Glacial Cores makes Charged Lodestones.

Thank you very much! I was every day checking the post for some news about the crafting of this sword. Now I’m trying to craft this weapon, but I think that I will be a lot of time obtaining the materials. Already I have the Eldritch Scroll and the Mystic Coins. This is better than nothing :P

@Dysect You can craft Charged Lodestones also with the Mystic Forge.

2 Charged Cores + 1 Crystal + 1 Elonian Wine + 1 Crystalline Dust = 1 Charged Lodestone

You can buy the Crystal & Elonian Wine to Miyani (the NPC near the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch). The Charged Cores appears as drop in the Crucible of Eternity dungeon.

Charged cores make charged lodestones and glacial make glacial lodestones lol. BUT there’s is a typo with glacial lodestones and it appears in game as glacial loNestone i.e. n instead of d.

Actually, it doesn’t. Whether or not this is intended, whose to say but Glacial Cores do give out Charged Lodestones. I tried it myself two days ago. Getting the materials is really cheap. 2 Glacial Cores(27s),1 C. Dust (1.5S),Elonian Wine(25S),1 Crystal(5 for 3 Skill Points). = Pretty cheap compared to what 1 Charged Lodestone is selling on the market.

I’m also aware of the Glacial Lonestone naming issue, its been like that for weeks. Why it hasn’t been fixed no clue.,maybe intended.

Wow, that’s almost certainly a bug and have filed a bug report. Makes no sense for glacial items to make charged items, might be because of the typo in glacial lodestone. Hopefully they’ll close this exploit asap.

It doesn’t sound like an exploit because using the mystic forge with 2 glacial cores + elonian wine and whatnot eventually comes up to the cost of a charged lodestone on the TP. So there’s no real unfair advantage of doing this anyway.

@Levelord. If it’s not intended it most definitely is an exploit. Exploit is anything that allows people to do things that weren’t intended by the designer to gain an unfair advantage. If it’s just an error its a bug, if you can gain an advantage its an exploit.

Glacial cores making charged lodestones seems like a bug but can now be used as an exploit. The reason glacial cores are starting to match charged is because this recipe has gotten out and its a ‘cheaper’ alternative. They will soon match. Glacial cores were 10s 3 days ago, 14s this morning.

If you can make an item cheaper than its retailing/ suppose to be made that’s gaining an unfair advantage on the player base. If AN intended glacial cores to make charged lodestones (which I highly doubt) then there’s no issue. But if they didn;t then they need to fix the recipe – probably already too late as a lot of the glacial cores will have been bought for 20s mark and thus allowed people to save tens of gold in lodestone These same people can potentially sell the lodestones for considerable profits.

Lodestone prices will soon rise because of this recipe, markets are fluid, but even wth wine prices they can potentially make these lodestones for around the 75s mark. The lodestone are around 1g retail and only climbing as word of this recipe spreads.

Both bugs and exploits are unintended by the developer.

An exploit is a term used to describe the use of a flaw in the system to gain an unfair advantage.

Glacial Cores, doesn’t confer an unfair advantage, but it seems more like a bug to be converted into something unrelated.

Like I said, the item isn’t cheaper, the market adjusts itself anyway, so all this fear mongering on Glacial Cores is nonsense. Go ahead and buy yourself 100 cores and prove me wrong.

Isn’t the recipe for the Volcanus of fire: 1 scroll + 50 coins + 50 destroyer lodestones + 50 molten lodestones? (its an actual recipe, but I dont have enough money to test it out)

I’ll leave it at this. People already bought cores 20s or less. The can potentially save 10-20s per lodestone. Charged cores go at 25-30s (were at 40s but dropped dramatically, probably due to the glacial error). If bought at 20s or less that equates to 10-20g saved (need 100 lodestones for recipe and 2 cores per lodestone). Which in turn they can sell for that profit…. but lodestone will inevitably rise in price and thus increase their profits.

Yes its not on the same scale as the karma exploit but quite a few people will have made healthy profits from this. Something they shouldn;t have been able to do. You can still make profits off the charged cores as we agree the economy will even itself out and both cores will reach an equilibrium but the fact remain glacial cores shouldn’t have been able to make a different parent lodestone (need confirmation on AN to confirm it was a bug).

I’m buying onyx cores/ lodestones for my legendary so have no interest in this recipe but just because eventually the market adjusts itself doesn;t mean the issue isn’t/ wasn;t exploited. Anyway, I’ll leave it at that.

Buying an item on mass on the TP to sell later is a valid market strategy people do in the game and is recognized by Anet.

It’s not an exploit, they aren’t magically creating money out of thin air.

Your concern for potential exploits is admirable, but you are using the wrong word for a completely legitimate Trading Post practice.

here’s a thought regarding volcanus. it may not follow the same formulaic recipe as mists or or foefires of 3 same ingredients + ori component. its possible it may not require ori comp cause the mist and foefires weapons are from the same “family” that share the same visuals. where as volcanus is like the only firey weapon skill elementalists have, the other “elemental line” weapons are ice/bluish.

volcanus could be a one off thing like immobulus, it’s a scepter but doesn’t require any ori scepter comps

Buying to sell at higher price is perfectly fine, but acquiring those goods through a means that was not intended is and gaining an advantage is an exploit. Your argument hinges on the fact that, oh it’s evening itself out its fine now. Um, that was inevitable.

My point is it shouldn;t have been possible to start and because of it people did/ can gain an advantage. The fact the advantage isn’t game breaking doesn;t detract from the benefits. Also it wasn’t insignificant, one could still be 10-20g better off if not more. It also explains why charged lodestones were only 60s a few days ago.

I lol’d at that 1 guy who bought some and resell them at 76s… Terrible investor.
