People use the forge for hoping to get a better graded item, not to get the same one.
Some runes are better than others… Why can’t I put 4 runes I don’t want into the MF in hopes of getting a rune I can use?
That’s very subjective. Yeah, based on the value, a superior rune of divinity for example is way more valuable than superior rune of the dolyak. But when they design these systems, they don’t take into consideration what is more valuable since it’s subjective.
Technically, all of the runes in their same grade are of equal value.

What’s higher than a sup rune? Not sure what it would spit back to you for 4 sup runes…

Yeah, pretty much that^… Really no reason to put in 4 sup runes to get a higher market value rune. Pretty much all the higher value ones you can get for dungeon tokens. You’d be better off saving up all your majors and tossing them in the forge. It’s not like there is any control over what you get.

Is that why people throw exotics in the Forge for their exotic precursor? Is that the only reason people throw in soulbound items?
Soulbound Superior runes is the main reason I’d like to be able to Forge them. I can Forge most other Exotics, it’s expected to Forge runes.
