Legendary weapons aren’t required to play the game. It’s very desirable which is why they cost a lot of gold. If you don’t want to spend money then you can farm yourself. The ability to buy things for a legend on TP is more a convenience than anything, it enables those who are impatient or otherwise to get what they want by doing what they want when they play.
Don’t be discouraged, MF does actually give precursors. I got Dawn using lvl 80 rares, only took about 300 swords I think. Was too excited to screen it sorry
today i throw 8 Carrion great swords rare and got carrion great swords back same status and same rarity so i decided to by 2 hunt and moon shine and decided to throw mistic forge stone. carrion tribal spear of rage. all i want really is dusk and dawn for my legendary greatsword eterinty. i know i need to make twlight and sunrise but in order to get those legendary wepons i still need the precursers. and i will take another shout out to the ofical responce of precursers and the ideas of a scavenger hunt. i am still waiting for that. now te question is do i keep sinking all my monie to trying to get my precrser throw the mistic forge or do i hope that the scavenger hunt will come?

Really? That’s all you want? Just two of the five most desired in the game? So that you can turn those into the rarest weapon in the game? Well I certainly don’t think you’re asking for too much. It’s perfectly reasonable to expect the rarest weapon in the game to be easily obtained.

That’s like hearing a guy casually say: “All I ever want in life is really just a powerball jackpot”.
And Eternity is quite an ambitious goal to look at. With the current market even assuming you have both Dawn and Dusk, the remaining cost will still come out pretty close or above 2000g. I don’t know, if you already consider the 400g for Dawn a distant impossibility I don’t know how you even plan to go on the next 2600g. You’re complaining about the Precusor now, I’m pretty sure once you get them you will complain about how lodestone is too high, then after that you will probably complain about how T6 mat is ridiculous, after maybe another complain about inflated ecto price. :P
I said this before, the precursor is nothing but a start. I think most people who never craft a legendary has this fixation in precursor without realizing they have quite a long road ahead of them. It took me two months after getting Leaf of Kudzu to gather enough stuff to craft the Kudzu itself, and it’s one of the cheaper one to craft. I think most people who already craft a legendary themselves will all agree that the precursor is just a small step toward a bigger goal.
I wont get my eternity because my twilight is bugged after transmuting bugfix failure by ANet. Otherwise I could finish it this week. So that goal is not so ultra high.

lol what i was stating is how i throw in 4 of the same greatswords and got the same great sword back. i know people that have thrown in rares and got precursers out of the MF. and I know loadstones are really expensive but im close to 25 loadstones of onyx and charged i just buy cores of the TP and convert them. and its not just 3 attempts its atemps that startd in October. and yes i have seen youtube videos of people blowin throw 100gold to try to get a precurser.

I am definitely working on the precursor scavenger hunt, but like others have said, things like this take time and I want to get it right. Not to mention, it’s not the only thing on my plate. Please do not expect to see the precursor scavenger hunt in the next patch. I may be awesome, but I am still only human and this is a fairly large amount of work to get done and done right. Please be patient!
I know you must be a busy guy, but more than one year ago, you meantioned the system called “the Precursor Scavanger Hunt”, so you gave us hope and we gave you more than one year’s patience and now we want some answers about the schedule or even if we might not get it cause it’s canceled(we seriously doubt that). To clarify since I think these two statements could be confusing without context, Linsey is indeed working on designing the system by which we’d add precursor scavenger hunts to the game. We are not actively implementing that design yet, it hasn’t been finalized, and building it that will involve a much larger team.

We are however working on expanding reward systems to make them more re-rewarding across all parts of the game, making the open world more rewarding, and adding new ways you can earn precursors as rewards via new reward systems taking advantage of our open persistent world.
Some of these additions will come as early as the January release, and will get covered in more detail in the next week or two as well release all the details about this release once testing has signed off it’s all ready to go in January. (we’ll also provide a high level summary of our goals with reward systems, etc. in our 2013 blog post, which should be out next week)

Legendary Gear and Precursors
We aren’t quite ready to go into all the details here, but what I can say is you will see a specific way to build precursor items on your way to a legendary. On top of this, you’ll also see new legendary weapons and new types of legendary gear in 2013. Building your precursor will require a large amount of the new crafting material rewards listed above, 500 in crafting, and likely a combination of other items earned for completing more specific content in the game.

Those who can make an ascended weapon should certainly be enabled to make a precursor weapon. Make it expensive and time consuming if you wish, but at least make it possible. This has been delayed for too long.

lol, all that time waiting you could of farm dung runs and bought the dam thing – i know cos i was on my way doing this then got side tracked and spent all my gold now back at 20g and starting again….
if they did let us craft precursor – you know its going to have timegated crafting against it right? so in other words your still going to have to wait 3 months to craft the dam thing – if ascended armor is anything to go upon…
