A month ago, i opened 20k light bags of booty and made profits, selling all the mats i got, while keeping the silver doubloons (89 in total). Granted, at that time t2 mats were quite expensive and bags cheap but i still generated 89 silver doubloons while making gold.

Point is, there will always be a way to get silver doubloons way under market value, you just have to go against the trend.

Pebbles for example are quite expensive now but are at 62.5G still the cheapest way generate a stack of doubloons according to your calculation.

Did you ever consider buying cheap low lvl trinkets to salvage the pebbles on it instead of buying the pebbles on the tp for 1.25 silver? If you put in buy orders (they fill quite fast, i just did) you can generate pebbles for 50 copper, if you sell the ore.
You also get essences of luck along the way.

Due to the vast amount of topics being opened on silver doubloons every week on the forums, you make people aware of a rising market and this wont help the price to go down.

Just be creative in the way to obtain them and stop complaining on the forums.

Realistically, though, this should be something that ArenaNet looks into. Upping the drop rate slightly or, even better, adding another method to obtain them (like an upgrade recipie for Copper Doubloons) without altering drop rates would probably go a long way toward helping the problem.

That is probably the most important point. As long as the demand is there sellers aren’t going to lower their prices.

Realistically, though, this should be something that ArenaNet looks into. Upping the drop rate slightly or, even better, adding another method to obtain them (like an upgrade recipie for Copper Doubloons) without altering drop rates would probably go a long way toward helping the problem.

Maybe, maybe not. It could just end up pushing the prices of the components up. So you go from really expensive Silver Doubloons and cheap Copper Doubloons to slightly cheaper Silver Doubloons and really expensive(for their level) Copper Doubloons. On the other hand there is a guaranteed way to get Copper Doubloons ….

“so crazy… legendaries cost 4x or 5xmore than at start of the game”

There is a crazy amount of money coming into the game. Everyone seems happy with that until they see inflation at the Trading Post.

For silver dubloons there could be a shortage of supply. A large chunk of the player base will have temporarily abandoned their low level alts in favor of jumping boxes, ascended material collection, and Tequatl.

Yet some people still think the drop rate for gold should be increased.

I don’t think there is a decrease in supply so much as an increase in demand. Between the updates for the footfall and the news that precursors will be craftable by the end of the year that isn’t surprising. That topic has come up before in the bltc section, including the fact that the components might rise in price if the precursors become “easier” to obtain.

What is really strange of course is why a rare quality crafting material isn’t considered a “rare crafting material”. The doubloons seems like they should be analogous to the large skulls dropped by grawls.

So you could afford 20k bags? Sounds fishy. Try that right now and tell me how it works. A side note: It would take you a VERY LONG time to farm those bags. AND it took you 20k bags to get just 89? Holy wow that must have sucked to click those all open.

And now silver doubloons have reach over 1.8g/ea they challenge charged lodestones as the costlier legendary ingredient. BUT you need 250 silver doubloons and not just 100 of them. Plus, there is only 203 of them on the market as of this post. To buy them all would cost you 600g and still not have the 250 you need.

If you think I’m complaining, you’re right but this is something that needs to be addressed. I would like to make my legendary before the end of the year but that seems impossible now. The amount of time to “gather” these silver doubloons is just atrocious. Gold farmers are hurting us players bad here and something needs to happen from Anet to ease our pain.

Only those who need these doubloons know the pain of trying to afford/attain them. Good luck and good hunting!

Back then, those bags cost between 70-80 copper. so not more than 2g per stack.
Thats only 160g for 80 stacks and i didnt say i farmed the bags myself, so nothing fishy about it. During that time, you could also sell the t2 mats, which those bags mostly contained, between 3-4 silver. So after after buying 2 stacks, opening them and selling the mats, i could buy 4 more stacks with my profit.

It also doesnt suck that much to open them all, if you key-bind double-click to your mouse wheel. I also think obtaining 89 of them within 2 weeks while making more than 200g profit for turning my mousewheel was quite a good way to go about it, as I could have used my profits to buy the remaining 161 doubloons i needed.
But at that time, i already had my Juggernaut for a month or so, so i did this only for profit.

I say the drop rate should increase or this material needs to be crafted.

It would be good if this were these materials combined to form a silver doubloon:

3 silver ingot + 1 platinum ingot OR

2 copper doubloons + pile of shimmering dust

so crazy… legendaries cost 4x or 5xmore than at start of the game

It’s the same for ascended gear. Originally they were going to make them items that were to be bought from fractals alone thru fractal currency alone. Then they made some of the trinkets laurels, then when they realized that wouldn’t take that long for someone to replace their entire gear set they made them a crafting item with twice as many mats as any legendary!

It’s getting really stupid now I agree. For a group of developers that claimed they don’t like people to have to grind, and that they don’t want to design a game full of grinding they sure have made it just that! I am a farmer and that’s all I choose to do in any game, and even the farmer community sees the writing on the wall! LOL

Park a character in the appropriate level range (about 19-29 IIRC) at a jump puzzle chest and log in and open that chest every day. Silver doubloons will trickle in. Multiply this by as many characters as you care to or spend some time going from chest to chest.

Wait, so what? Do I have to park with a 19-29 character at a 19-29 area’s chest? Or is the character level irrelevant? I just tried picking the chest with a 65 lvl char in Snowden Drifts JP and i got sapphire crystal or something. I’m lost

I will bring some clarity to this …

Park a level 21-29 character at an Lion’s Arch JP and farm the chest every day at reset. You are guaranteed a gem or crest and if it is a rare, you can get a silver doubloon (sometimes a gold). I have three characters doing this every day. I also salvage the other stuff for Essence and mats. It’s a win/win. Level 19 and 20 characters does not work … they only gives copper doubloon from my testing.

The MF recipe has already been mentioned and it’s also very good. I have always come out ahead of my costs when I do this … i.e., it can make you money. I prefer the 3 pebble/1 lump version.

These are only rare for one reason … people don’t know how easy it is to make or set themselves up to farm them.

I wish I could turn back time.

This thread is interesting. Just like in real life…. lots of people complaining about the economy and how its not fair they don’t have the stuff they want.
A few people who have figured out how to make money try to share it with others and are argued with or told they are wrong with not much more than the argument of “its too hard or takes too long.”

So you have nothing to add to this problem. Why post? To compare the real life economy to a game economy makes me laugh. First of all, the real life economy in a lot of the world is in bad shape so people do have a right to complain. Secondly, posting things like this just show you’re one of the opportunist who just try to make money which hurts the market in game and in real life. Enjoy. BUT we have stated what we’d like changed so we’re not just here making complaints but trying to provide possible solutions.

Silver doubloons are too rare for a level 20 item that is required for a legendary. Going after the juggernaut right now would be a waste of time unless you had the money or the time. The “it’s too hard or takes too long” argument is valid when the only solutions is wait 250days with some luck or stand for hours at a forge throwing money out the window. “Yeah, go open some of those bags! Throw some gems in the forge!” is now not even worth it because the prices of those items aren’t worth the gamble like a couple months ago. Some people have finally starting bringing out their stashes which has brought the price back down to 1.25g/ea as of this post and over 900 on the market.

As always for those looking for them, good luck and good hunting!

Pebbles seem to have provided me with more silver doubloons but be prepared for a lot of copper doubloons too. Lumps will provide them too but it seems like the forge gives more random loot with the lumps such as higher tier stones and gold doubloons.

I went along and got another 7k lootbags, 28 stacks, to see how profitable it still is.

This time of course, it wasnt as profitable anymore as during the Invasions because t2 mats lost 100% value and i got less silver doubloons now, around 0.7 per stack compared to 1.1 per stack a month ago.

I could still cover my investments though, by selling all the mats except silver doubloons. So again, i generated 19 doubloons within an hour of clicking, plus maybe one hour for putting the buy orders on the tp.
It took 4 days to get 7000 buy orders filled.

I am pretty sure that with this method, you could farm your stack of silver doubloons within a month, spending 30 minutes a day.
I think you will have a harder time farming your 100 Molten Lodestones within a month without buying them on the TP spending just 30 minutes per day farming CoF.
But i dont see anybody complaining about those.

I attached 2 screenshots with my 28 stacks of lootbacks (2 different kinds were opened, which might explain the lesser droprate now per stack) and my loot table.

P.S.: Some people were afraid that lower tier cloth and leather might be hard to come by for ascended armor crafting because there arent any harvestable nodes in the game as for wood and ore and lvl 80 characters dont get low lvl gear drops to salvage for those. IF yo ucheck my loot, you know what the primary source for cloth and leather is.

The type and quality of the mats that Wanze got from his bags tells me that it’s most likely to be:

b) Light Miner’s Bags (from level 20+ dredge)

From personal experience, I can confirm that Silver Doubloons do drop from these bags.

He may also have possibly been buying Bags of Pinched Goods/Bags of Purloined Goods, which drop from Bandits, or Light Bags of Skritt Shinies (from Skritt, obviously) although I cannot confirm that Silver Doubloons drop from those.

You are also not providing information but a wild guess, which should always be free of charge.

That i used Light Bags of Booty, i already said in an earlier post. Good luck by the way, getting one of those from a Jetsam Pirate in Lornars Pass or a Bloody Buccaneer in Bloodtide Coast.

There is no way I would try to farm this at .7 a stack of 250. Good luck to those that try!

So pretty much you have to have the money to buy the bags to try and profit while collecting silver doubloons. Awesome. So to “normal” players this will be slower to gain because they first have to farm the money then buy the bags and hope for a good return. BUT we still are only talking about opportunist type money making here and not a better chance for those who need the silver doubloon for their legendary.

So we as legendary seekers are being beat out by the gold farmers…

As of right now, silver doubloons sit at 1.25g on the market.
Research is usually meant to be a learning tool I will give you all mine because I do not see the market changing for these for the better. So get it while it’s cheap!

Light bag of pilfered goods, light miner’s bag, Light bag of booty, small miner’s bag (although the wiki states differently but before it was there and I have found them in the small miner’s bag…hmm) and possibly more. In fact, I know there are more but can’t think of them right now.

Be glad you don’t need charged lodestones since you can’t MF them with a recipe or get them outta something like light bags. Was even worse when I made Sunrise cause they were about 4g each. they have come down a ton now and are only like 1.25g each. My advice is keep grinding and buying them. About all you can do. And honestly if you are a legendary seeker, then you need to be a gold farmer at least until you get it done or if you don’t mind it taking a year to finish.

Charged Lodestones can be made in the MF by promoting charged cores.
They also drop from bags, Heavy Loot Bags for example.

While I understand that charged lodestones are expensive(sitting at 2ish gold on the market as of this post) and seem like something to compare to the silver doubloons , they just shouldn’t be compared at all. Why? Because charged lodestone are just easier to get if you want them AND you profit from farming without losing too much time. Let me show you all the ways to get them…

Crucible of Eternity – from the chests
All the fractal chests including the Jade Maw chest
The Dwayna world boss event provides 2 chances(one from the high priestess and one from the final chest) to acquire a charged lodestone
Air elementals and Sparks of high level drop them as rare loot
Bag of Alchemical Materials
Heavy Bag of Booty
Heavy Bag of Skritt Shinies
Heavy Loot Bag
Lost Orrian Jewelry Box
Resplendent Watchwork Box
Salvage Salvageable Twisted Watchwork Scrap
Upgrading charged cores in the mystic forge

So why are they so expensive? Because they are used in large and small quantities to make all sorts of things including: legendaries, pseudo legendaries, potions, runes, sigils, tonics, and even the new watchwork portal devices. The popularity of the weapons also help inflate the price.

Silver doubloons however do not have anyway to be salvaged out of salvage materials, found in Orrian Jewelry Boxes, found out of fractals and dungeon chests, found as droppable loot, or can be upgraded through the mystic forge. Lodestones in general are cheaper and are found more often at a regular pace. I myself used to farm 6 lodestones per day and will again start doing so to sell them just to turn around and buy the silver doubloons which may reach the same price as the charged lodestones soon again.

There are ways to make them in the forge. There are ways to extract them from bags. There are ways to use alts to trickle them in steadily over time. You can either do these things yourself or pay a premium for other people to do them for you – but those are the ONLY WAYS THESE ITEMS EVER COME INTO EXISTENCE.

If you are unwilling to do the work yourself, you cannot fault other people for wanting a good price for the time they spend doing stuff you won’t.

I experimented with a stack of 3 pebbles (around 7.5 gold) and a stack of lumps (around 1.5 gold). for a total of 7 doubloons for 9 gold. Roughly what I would have spent to buy those 7 doubloons minus the clicking.

Hello! I have a concern about the current and future prices of Silver Doubloons. In the pass of time the prices have increased and are still increasing to this day. I understand that people might hoard these and then sell them at peak times for max gold profit, which in turn would cause the echonomic demand to go down and in turn decrease the price. However, the decrease has been shown to be fairly minimal at curves. Prices vary from 1-20 Silver per curve, while increasing at 20-50 weekly. now as echonomy is based mainly on the player base’s activity in said area it is very VERY hard to predict. but the price has increased long term. roughly 3 times its original price over the year period. We might even be able to expect them to be anywhere from 4 Times to 10 times the price a year ago within the next few months. The fact is, the demand for the Silver Doubloons is much higher than the Drop/sell rate that others who don’t need them is.

Summary: The demand for Silver doubloons over a year has increased, and is still increasing. Where as the production/Selling/reselling of the silver doubloons is substantially low. With the information gathered over a year period, we can assume the prices wont go down any time soon within a 3 Month to Year period. Risking increased prices the entire time.

This brings me to my question, Does A.Net intend for the price per silver doubloon to be worth anywhere from 3 gold to 10 gold or more? Or is this indeed an area that needs to be looked over?

Level some alt’s to 30-ish and park them at a JP. Hit them once a day and you stand a fairly good chance of getting some silver doubloons.

This is talking about the fluctuation of the TP and its imbalance with supply/demand, not farming them.

charged lodestones were really expensive for a long time, still are to an extent. There are ways to get these, they just aren’t very reliable.

farm gold, put in buy orders.
