The day started in the sunny Divinity’s Reach. The prosperity, the light, the warmth. My character probably felt relieved. Scarlet was dead, the tragedy was over. She even got invited to a party with the other heroes of Lion’s Arch! So amazing!

Maybe it’s a bit too much Roleplay to assign emotions to a playing character, but it felt exactly this way.

Then the laughs, the booze, the bonfire (dark souls fan, fire always warms my heart).

Blinking on Delaqua for that kiss with Kasmeer, hearing the son of Eir with his “Uh-huh” speech with Taimi. Then a bit of worrying about the ley-lines and the Dragon, but nothing too heavy. We defeated Scarlet, we can defeat everything.

Heck, my character even got a new hairstyle! And it looks so cool with those reading glasses. I can almost see her smile.

Then, the ruins of Lion’s Arch. Emotions are changing into melancholy, but the relief is still here. It’s over. I can hear the city breathing, releasing the terrible pressure brought by all the past terror and death.

Walking through the ruins with her golden armor, she looks way more serious. But she’s mostly a detective. Dragon bash, Southsun, Scarlet’s endgame… All unknown elements that were discovered and explored. Their secrets now belong to her. So, she went under the Breachmaker’s wreckage and investigated the Ley-Line.

Of course, we can’t see that, but we can feel it. I’m behind her, behind the screen, sharing with her the surprise and the astonishment and watching the terrible energy coming from deep beneath the earth. But there’s nothing to discover, we already know about the Dragon and the Ley-Lines.

Emerging from the deeps, we can spot a few looters on the land. Can’t stop them or talk with them, but i can easily see my character gritting her teeth. She’s a norn with a strange morale, but pillaging and earning on the victims is considered a crime for everyone.

Then, after suppressing that rage, we approach the western ward memorial…

Arenanet, you broke my heart.

“I can’t find my mommy and daddy”

I can clearly see my Character crying now.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who comes up with complex narratives for my characters in my head.

((If you really are serious about the roleplay narrative, I have some food for thought. I use double parentheses for OOC.))

When Lion’s Arch is devastated, and countless defenseless families are trying to heal their wounds, rebuild their home, reconnect with their lost relatives, what is a band of 6 rich heroes doing all the way in cozy Divinity’s Reach, partying, drinking, and making jokes?
Shouldn’t they be helping? Shouldn’t these famed heroes be doing their best to rebuild people’s huts, donate their money, aid the wounded?
Decadence and corruption.
If you feel for the people of Lion’s Arch, why did you leave to begin with? Why not stay behind and help, like the rest of us?
Tears will not help here, working hands will. Grab some straw and help with the roofing. We have a lot of huts to fix.

So many fallen people had indicted Scarlet that she was a high priority target at the top of the Book of the Guilty. It was only a matter of time that my Sylvari, a disciple of Dark Sun Gwyndolin, would finally invade and kill her. I’m still worried about what her forces are up to. There’re still so many sinners plotting out there that need to face the Blade of the Darkmoon.

I stopped by the graves in Lion’s Arch, and knelt to utter a short prayer to Grenth, so that their souls may find peace.

Anet didn’t break my heart…
They definitely burned my eyes with that kiss though.

The best way to mend a broken heart is to kill some sylvari.

My theif, that has faced Zaitan, hordes of undead, scores of Aetherblades and beyond, made it to the BLTC upper deck, and all the images of the battles in LA, the fleeing citizens, the screams, the acrid smoke.. she stopped and stood there on the bow and cried. Another walked up and just stood there, as if consoling her. It was sureal indeed. I’m actually glad for the lull in fighting. Each of my characters have gone home. They need to decompress. From the standpoint of the writer in me, she very nearly dropped her weapons and walked off. It’s kinda like when my Sylvari engineer lost Seiran. He… is broken, and trying to find the strength to continue on and face down Zaitan. To those rolling their eyes, those that write, feel things a bit more, wounds cut a bit deeper, and bleed longer. We open ourselves up to try and experience what it would be like. Imagine killing so many enemies, their faces blur. Your sword, once shiny, and strong, now scarred, its once bright luster gone. It is merely an instrument, whose soul purpose is dispatching those you face, dispencing justice on a drumhead as it were. How could you ever be little again, how could you be whatever you were before the first shot was fired…

I must admit, despite the negativity we see on the boards, ANet is definitely doing something right. Didn’t think I was that attached to Lion’s Arch . . . until I wandered the ruins.

Very sad, yet moving.

Gone to Reddit.

Well, I wish they had hidden some info in LA, just so we had something to do. But maybe this “calm after the storm” effect isn’t all bad. It is very eerie and tranquil, I’ll give it that. It is also interesting to see players pop in every now and then asking what happened to their city while they were gone.

side-note: kinda been avoiding the epilogue like a clingy girlfriend, I’m afraid of the drama I’ll find.
