Do the chests reset simultaneously to the daily? if so the reset for german servers is 3 hours early. The program just resetted 10min ago – 10pm local time. The real reset is at 1 am.

Fuda: You can now set the tool to reset at a local time, so set it to reset at your local time that’s the equivalent to the server time. Problem solved :3

Nice, very nice !
I have encountered a problem. When I want to do the chests with multiple toons I either have to do all chests with the first char, then log to the next char and repeat all events or I have to open multiple instances of the program and remember which instance is for which char.
My solution would be:
Add an option to choose for how many chars you want to monitor the events.
For example player X wants to monitor the events for all his 5 chars.
Then 5 “not looted” symbols are shown under each event. Rightclicking an event now doesn’t show “Allready looted”, but “Allready looted char 1”, “Allready looted char 2”, etc etc
Clicking the “Allready looted char 2” whould make the second icon to the left disappear.

Keep up the good work,
fuda

Agree, i suggest a way to mark events done, considering soon we will have the update with the daily chest per char

@Fuda: a simpler way would be to be able to make some kind of comment on each timer, where you can write the names of your alts that did the event. But because this will be changed and we will be able to do the events only once per account, i see no reason why this would be implemented.

Also the option to update the timers (like on the site, after you finish one) would be nice, but i think its rather difficult to implement. Now the app only takes data from the site, so being able to transmit back means a lot more programming and i’m not sure the site owners would permit that. One reason would be for security reasons and another would be that the site will lose a good amount of traffic.

I’m gonna install the app now to give it a try. Thank you for the effort and contribution to the community.

Love the tool. Anyway to add a button that would copy to clipboard the wp? Not even sure if this is possible in game. Keep up the good work.

@Rebort: why even bother? Once you do an event the first time, you will remember where it is and what waypoint to use. But if you are not sure where an event is, you can always ask in map chat and there will be people nice enough to link you the waypoint.

As Codpin pointed, I do not really see the need to add the ‘per character’ support because the events are going to be account based, not character based soon.
Right now I am quite busy, and I would prefer to not spend time adding a feature that will be used only for a limited time and then made useless by a patch.

I will not add a button to update the timer from the tool (I know how to do it, I have the data for it, and it’s actually pretty simple to implement)
The reason is that the Guild Wars Temple admin was kind enough to let me use his data.
I do not want to remove even more traffic from his site by making him a simply data repository for my own tool.
Plus there are already trolls that keep updating the timers on some servers and I do not want to make their life easier by allowing them to use my application to annoy more people..

The WP copy/paste in the game is using a mechanism that belongs to the game only.
The only thing I could do is let it copy in the clipboard and paste in the chat.
Which would not achieve much in the end.
As Codpin suggested (again) it is better to ask the first time where is an event in map chat (Lion’s Arch can give you some great help) and then remember where the event is for next time.

There’s no [base64] method like there is with items?

Apparently there is. http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Chat_link_format

That is not entirely true. You still will get the chests with every char on your account every day! They only difference is that the guaranteed rare item in the chests will be given only once a day! Because I currently get 1-3 rare items per chest, I will still be running the mega events with all my chars since I presumbly will still get 0-2 rare items per chest !

While that is true, you can repeat with the same character but you will only get the chest, not the guaranteed one. So basically there will be no need to remember which char did what.

“The current chests will stay lootable once per day per character” (Quote from the post above)
So you still have to log on different chars to get another chest from the events

I have the update ready for the ‘Event WP’ copy-thingy.
The only problem is that the page linked by Sawnic is not complete.
I started to complete it when I was contacted by it original creator.
He says that he is working on a new version that will be better/complete and that he should be able to release it in a couple of days hopefully.

I tried the updated version and so far it is working well.
So I am just waiting for the WP codes page to be updated to release the new version.

As for the multi-character support, I will think about it.
Right now it is not high on my priority list, and as I said before I am rather busy lately (and about to be even more busy when my wife give birth to our twins in about 2 months…)
So unless I feel a feature can be done quickly (ex: copy WP), I have to delay adding new feature that does not benefit most of the users to later. :-/

Version 1.3.1 is out.

  • Fixed a bug when changing month that was causing the application to not start.
  • Added support to copy the event WP in the clipboard.
Right click on the event and select ‘Copy WP’ it will copy into the clipboard so you can paste it in the ingame chat and then click on the WP.

If you experience any issue, with the WP, please report the language and event

Did anyone get/test the latest version using the auto-update feature?
I am not sure it is working properly.
I had to manually trigger the update (from the menu) yesterday.
But maybe it is because I developing on the same machine and that messed up the mechanism.
So I would like to know if anyone had the same issue.

To reproduce, start the tool, click on auto-update.
If it tells you that there is a new version, just install it.
That will confirm that there is a problem with the auto-check for new versiokittentartup.
Otherwise everything is fine and it’s just my machine who is messing up.

Raiku, the tool is not obfuscated, if you want to look at the code go ahead.

But I am not sure you understand that my application only gets the data from the Guild Wars Temple website and simply adds a few functionalities to it.

Then 2 things:
- Guild Wars Temple already have a tool for mobile.
- If you want to use my code, you have to at least put some credits for me and the Guild Wars Temple site.

Version 1.4 is out

  • Integrated some GW2 API (mainly getting the servers list)
  • Fixed the application to use the new format from Guild Wars Temple
  • Fixed the ‘Copy WP’ function to correctly copy the WP to the clipboard. Removed all support to get waypoints from the Guild Wars 2 Wiki. Because they changed the way to data is accessed, I cannot extract the WP anymore from them. Instead the tool now holds all the waypoint. That should also make it a bit faster because it does not have to go fetch/parse the data.

My apologies for taking so long to fix these issues.
As my wife will give birth to our twins next week, and that makes our life is a kittenaotic at the moment.
After that things should go back to normal.

I don’t really understand how this works. This tool isn’t visible when I’m on GW2

Guild Wars 2 Timers tool

Basically:

The first time you start the tool it will ask you to configure various parameters:

  • Region/server you play on
  • At what time the server reset occurs for you
  • Play a sound before the events start
  • Start when windows starts

Then you can select the timers you want to get notifications for under ‘Options → Monitor’

At that point you can simply go play GW2 while the tool is running in the background of Windows.

For each event that you selected, the tool will show you how much time is left before the next occurrence.

In the Options/properties you can select a sound to play when the event is about to begin.
When the event is about to begin you will hear that sound (unless you turned off the sound on your computer).
And that should tell you that one of the events you want to participate to is about to being.

Then, if you want you can right click on the event in the tool and select ‘Copy WP’ then you alt-tab back to GW, open the chat (local or map) and paste (ctrl+v).
The event waypoint plus the remaining type will be displayed in the chat.
So you can click on the waypoint to go participate to the event.

When the event is done, you can alt-tab again to the tool to update the timer, and mark the event as being looted (right click on the event) (you get the extra chest only once every 24Hours)
That way you can keep track of the events you already went to.

The event color changes based on the status of the event:

  • Gray = nothing happening
  • Blue = event is about to beging
  • Red = the event is in progress or in the spawning window

Various icons can also appear in the event:

  • Swords: event in progress
  • Hourglass: Event is late
  • Pile of gold: Event not looted yet

I think that covers pretty much everything.
If you have more specific questions, do not hesitate to ask here, I will try to answer as fast and as best as I can.

Thank you.

I have been trying to reset the program back to its default, but the preferences seem to be saved somewhere other than in the folder I’ve extracted it to. Is there a way to find out where the preference file/folder is, so I can delete it and fix this slight problem?

The top 3 events seem to be unknown, unnamed, and I cannot remove them.

Any ideas?

Thanks guys!

hi, if you open regedit you can go down to Compuer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Guild Wars 2 Timers

There you can delete the key ‘timers’
That will effectively reset the timers you are watching.

Hey, thank you for your reply!

I did that, thank you! And it did wipe the existing preferences off.

I guess my problem is unfortunately from something else then, because as I’ve just started the program again after deleting all the preferences in regedit, this shows up.

3 nameless events that I cannot get rid of.
Do you have any idea how I might be able to get rid of these? (As shown in attachment) Or more or less just something I’ll have to live with?

Thank you very much!

Version 1.5 is out.

I added support to automatically remove the empty timers and the unknown timers that some people get.
As I cannot reproduce the issue on my computers, I am hoping that what I did will fix the issue.
If it happens again, send me a message and I will see what else I can do.

I also added a new option to have the tool has top most (in front of everything else) in compact mode.
Go to Options → Properties → Top Most in Compact Mode
The option is disabled by default to keep the old behavior, but it is persisted if you change it.

Hey, thanks heaps for this tool. Been using it quite a bit.

One issue though, currently the only level 40-70 event that is available is actually Ulgoth the Modniir, and the Golem Mark III has disappeared.

I’ve tried deleting the registries etc, restarting program, but yeah.. Just letting you know!

Either way, thanks for the efforts.
