Malchor's champion knight event
he used to be a veteran which you could kill alone. he respawned so fast that ppl farmed him quite a lot while farming sparks. so instead of making the respawn timer longer, they made him a champion. thus no one ever kills him anymore and is just annoying.
Use the terrain to make life easier.
Northeast of this event area is an open field, where there is a short building that ranged damage dealers can safely stand on due to blocked pathing, while the tank just run forward in a circle making the champion miss all its attacks.

Yeah, once upon a time I would kill the Vet Knight every time I saw it up. Ditto the broodmother in Malchor’s. Now, these events are more interesting and are hardly ever done. ANet must live in a world where the massive numbers of people in Malchor’s are going to respond to a zone call to come to kill a Champion. Not happening on my server. If one is lucky, someone will come and distract the Knight long enough to allow one to get the skill point.
I miss this and broodmother. It was worth the time investment before, now, well its not.
I didn’t even realized that it was a veteran before.
I just checked the wiki and it’s not updated, it states that the mob is a vet:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Kill_the_Risen_knight_that_stalks_the_path_through_the_ruins
So maybe making it a champion was just an error?
If it was a decision I wonder what the person had in mind since it was done with the patch that made Orr champions way more powerful.
So why changing the vet to a new overpowered champion?
It just doesn’t make any sense.

It was not likely an error. Too many different Malchor DE mobs were changed from their old status to Champion: Broodmother, Risen Knight and Inquest Ornithologist. This was probably done as a sop to players who say the game has no challenge. If so, ANet forgot that most of them will not do that hard content if there’s no fat loot attached — and the last time I had something useful drop from a Champion in GW2 was on the first day of head-start, from the Rotting Oakheart in Queensdale.

No. it was not an error. They did it on purpose.
The update when they changed him from veteran to champion he became a champion, but the event text still said veteran, which they fixed in an update later.
And like hte person above me here said, no one is interested in doing events like this due to no loot and being time consuming.
To make matters even worse, there’s a skill point that you have to channel at a Dwayna statue near its path, and once you start, it warps right to you even if it’s away from the statue when you start.
The only way it’s doable is if the Knight does its flame shield skill first, since it doesn’t attack during that. Otherwise, you’re downed before you can react.
Whoever keeps changing these veterans to champions should stop doing it. This is just like that Champion Risen Noble sitting around the skill point in Gallow’s Hang (Cursed Shore), no one is going to try killing them because it isn’t worth it.

Changing them to champions without any change to the rewards.
