Well it seems like that Molten Alliance brochure is starting to look good now.

Ive had this odd feeling that maybe the consortium are behind all this lol. It sounds unlikely but would be funny. Maybe this whole thing was to get refugees back to southsun haha. To sacrifice them to the karka I dno. Perhaps the consortium arnt really who they say they are. They are wolves in sheeps clothing.

The following people are suspects in the Personal Nemesis case:
1. Gwen (clearly the prime suspect, no questions asked)
2. Eir Stegalkin (did not help her son)
3. Rox Whetstone (sweet talking Braham and obeying Rytlock until the time comes)
4. Jennah (does not like Rytlock and wants Logan all to herself, thus creates a war)

Riona? Though I doubt it since she was “only” in the first book.

Out of curiousity, is there going to be a different Personal Nemesis based on race/class/whatever, or does everyone in the world have this one really upset person gunning for them personally simultanously?
I ask, because one of the few things I miss out of Champions Online was their Nemesis system, where you design a nemesis and select minions for them, and then go through one of several possible story mini-arcs before finally defeating them..and getting do another arc, either with the same nemesis, or a different one. Granted, that system may or may not work here, but it was still a nice bit of generated content that helped you feel more part of your own story.

Was totally thinking myself the other day that I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see this system implemented in GW2 in the future. As a big RPer I not only have created stories for my characters, but for the personalized enemies I have created for them to be their nemesis. If this system was introduced well… due to my RP nature I would play this game forever.

Ottilia, who, whilst being stereotypical Norn in search for personal glory, or in this case, mad bank, secretly works for the Consortium, who profit from refugees who they somehow use in Southsun for some crazy scheme involving the Mursaat. That one guy already mentioned the dragons not being a problem for them. Maybe there’s some secret Mursaat thing in Southsun that the Consortium is using refugees to experiment with. Maybe the karkas were some result of this ancient Mursaat device. Ottilia isn’t a nice girl, she’s just a gold digger who targetted Braham thinking he had family money after learning he was Eirsson. It makes perfect sense!!!!!

Either that or it’s just some unannounced, previously unencountered stranger.

So a snake nose probably means an asura. And the only one i can think of that hates me at least is the one who lost her husband when he sacrificed himself to blow up the risen ship.

Course, i really didnt care he died, i knew him for two minutes, let sharks and undead ravage his body while i swam safely.

A possibility that I think Anet would make our personal nemesis simply because NO ONE WOULD GUESS HER would be the Lionguard girl who got mutilated by the dragon the first time you are at Claw Island and Trahearne has to carry her out in a full body cast.

While as far as I can tell she’s not villainous when you meet her first, she gets attacked by a dragon and could easily be ‘snake-nosed’ now with her appearance deformed, we’ve ALL met her, and she’s from the city. And I’m pretty sure we never see her again after Claw Island even though she lived.

Why would she be evil though? Classic ‘you let everyone that mattered to me die and now im a deformed monster’ reasoning that a few notable villains in fiction have.

‘Snake-nosed’ might be an expression, like ‘speaks with a forked tongue’, used to describe someone dishonest. Or maybe not.

Maybe the personal nemesis is the widow of that asura bomber guy who would probably be portrayed by Sean Bean if there was ever a GW2 movie, driven mad – and into the arms of eeeevil – by grief.

Alternately, since it’s a ‘personal’ nemesis, maybe it’s a (highly mobile) dungeon that chases you around Tyria until you LFG to defeat it.

Faolain escaped. Though it may be possible to kill her with enough firepower, as she’s not invulnerable (or at least wasn’t long ago) during the final bit where she taunts before leaving.

She and Caudecus are the only story-mode dungeon nemesis who live by the end of the plot thus far.

a few points I’d like to make:

1: it CANNOT be anyone from the 1-60 sections of the personal story, if we are to recognize them, we must ALL have been able to potentially see them.

2: it isn’t likely to be anyone in destiny’s edge, because really? even ANet aren’t going to go THAT cliche.

3: it is more likely than not that whoever they are, theyre an asura or slvari, hey are the only two races with face options that can be described as “snakelike”

4: it needs to be someone charismatic, either someone used to talking people into stuff or a mesmer.

5: we can’t take anything the dredge says about the person, other than their appearence, literally, they could easily have been lying about the city.

the only people I can think of who fit all of the possibilities is Faolain or an asura/sylvari representitive of the consortium (or maybe just that human lady looking smug and shifty on the SoS art?).

I’m personally betting on the consortium. why?

this is the order of events that have happened recently:

1: the consortium discover southsun and kitten off the karka

2: we stop the enraged karka and the consortium claim southsun

3: a “fast talking person” from the city approaches the flame legion and convinces them to join the dredge

4: the molten alliance attack diessa and wayfarer, causing a bunch of refugees to lose their homes

5: the consortium “out of the goodness of their hearts” build “free” housing on southsun

6: thanks to the evils of the EULA, the refugees are now the consortium’s slaves

7: the animals on the island have gone berserk, again, making us return and slaughter more karka

what valuable commodity can be found on southsun that they’d be willing to make people slaves for?

how many of those are feasible to dig up?
frostgorge, and who lives in frostgorge? the dredge (and the FL just one zone over)

where is the worlds highest concentration of orichalcum?
right in the middle of the karka hive (or it was, until january, just before the frost and flame stuff started)

who has all of this benefitted the most? The consortium.

All of this has been a ploy to clear out southsun and get workers for mining unobtanium… I mean orichalcum

she can be killed, I managed to do it in story mode, whilst also bugging out caderyn making non-boss nightmare court friendly to me :P (god that was a bizzare experience, I was the only sylvari in my group, so we thought it was something that happened to sylvari in the story, it was just because caderyn morphed me at the exact moment he died, making me transform, then instantly untransform because the fight ended, and since the fight was over, the thorn dogs didn’t spawn to fix stuff :P)

Sorry but im basically for the Ottillia twist because effectivly its the only one that works. Keep in mind that this individual is tied to the living story and hasnt revealed “herself” which considering the current plot implies the only person we havent seen yet is Ottilia herself.

Where in the flame and frost dungeon a prisoner when asked about her says "I dont wanna talk about it".

This leads me to believe that she is clearly the only culprit suspicious enough of the entire deal.

I have a different theory…kinda complicated maybe, but bear with me.

The nemesis is a Canthan.

Ottilia is sounding more & more suspicious to me.

Here’s my speculation..SPOILERS AHEAD:

First: WE go help Braham take Cragstead back from the Molten Alliance.At the end of the mission we learned they have taken the townsfolk as prisoners.Along with a girl Norn named Ottilia.We also learn that Braham likes her.

Then we help Braham & Rox defeat the Molten Alliance at the Facility base/dungeon.During this mission,we help rescue Charr & Norn prisoners while defeating enemies and finding the exit.At some point while rescuing 10 prisoners;
Braham talks to one of them.He asks about Ottilia.The prisoner says something along the lines of..“I don’t want to talk about it/You don’t need to know right now.” I do not know the exact line of dialogue,so anyone please feel free to correct me.

Why can’t he tell him what’s going on with Ottilia? It’s obviously bad news since he doesn’t want talk about it.So what happened.Is she hurt? Did she die? Why don’t you want to talk about her situation? Is the information/news THAT bad?

And for me,this is where it gets suspicious.It raises alot of questions.If Ottilia was taken,how come she is not here with the rest of the prisoners? How come we couldn’t find/encounter her in the dungeon at all? If that’s the case,was she in a different base? Was she already rescued by someone else? Was she in danger to begin with?

So a few days(game updates) later: After defeating the double boss & blowing the Facility up; we get 3 different Bonfire celebrations across the map.If you go to Hoelbrak’s Bonfire you will get to speak with Braham again.When you speak with Braham & ask about Ottilia,Braham says a Refugee coordinator told him she is somewhere in Hoelbrak.He then says he will find her so they can return home to Cragstead.

This brings up more suspicion and questions.How did she escape? Who rescued her?(sure as heck wasn’t us) If she is in Hoelbrak,why can’t Braham find her? Why can’t she find him? Everyone in town is talking about Braham & the events with the Molten Alliance’s defeat.If she is looking for him,I’m very sure they can point her to the celebration with Braham standing right next to the giant bright Bonfire.He’s not hard to find.

Maybe Ottilia couldn’t seek out Braham because she is injured/resting in Hoelbrak? If THIS is the case;why couldn’t she just tell the Refugee Coordinator her location so her friends/family can find her? It’s like she does not want to be found.

I know I’m thinking way too much into this.But it’s fun.Can’t wait to see the plot unfold in the upcoming months.

Ottilia seems a good candidate, but I don’t think she will be our personal nemesis. It’s like more.. a Braham’s nemesis to me (if she is evil).
One thing that I see lately.. is the wallpaper for the Southsun 14th. That Consortium woman have a sort of evil face, or a smile not so positive. She’s like.. hiding for the pleasure to see something, maybe an evil plot she set. Don’t know who she is, or if is just a random woman for the wallpaper. But well, my idea!

Edit: one more thing. They adding Traps and Tricks for WvWvW with this 14th patch. I’m not sure if the two things have something in common, but maybe our nemesis (and maybe the woman that we see on the wallpaper) is a sort of.. tricky-woman with evil and dangerous ideas, and who uses traps and devices. Maybe she will have her first success on the event on Southsun. The event that we need to fix, for the sake of all.. and from that, the plot with the ‘personal nemesis’ will rise more clear clue after clue.

I agreed with WarriorCatTreats. Ottilia sounds too suspicious. Anet mention that we haven’t seen this personal nemesis yet and also, we haven’t seen this “Ottilia” yet.
That sounds too much suspicious. But think of it, Ottilia would be Braham’s nemesis. not our nemesis, but who knows. She could be become interesting character, .

But it can be also Consortium member or hired one, who talks fast. Or he/she using it Consortium to get something in Southcove, before Consortium get it first.
But these are my ideas.

Hmm…. I’m really drawing a blank. The only people I could see the flame legion following is Gaherin Balefire. They added a room a while ago behind the acolyte crystal thingy at the end of path 2. His spirit and his corpse are still very there, and then there’s the mystery of the Komp puu or whatever, which may be a computer. That makes me think of Kudu. I believe if Kudu downloaded his brain into a data crystal or something and came back, he could make balefire a god. Perhaps our nemesis will end up being an anti-Destinys Edge, with a few baddies teaming up.

Regardless, I hope we get a human representative hero of Swordmaster Bongo the One Eyed, and he is like the dancing instructor from Game of Thrones. He should only fight with a single sword and have unique attacks. Also the sword should be one of Shiro’s blades.

Personally, my money’s on Ottilia. They’ve made her so suspicious that at this point it’s only going to be a twist if she turns out to be innocent.

Almost certainly. It’s the first thing to have come up, and the letters from Logan, Caithe and Zojja indicate they’ve got their own concerns while all the heroes are over in Wayfarer and Diessa. Smart money is on one or all (consider the Dark Triad in Brisban Wildlands…) of their concerns was using the diversion to prepare.

They did – that’s what the investigation revealed. Perhaps not specifically something they wanted back, but the initial exploration team took plant samples from the island, and that prompted the karka to track them back. (There’s an indication that the Consortium higher-ups knew something bad might happen if stuff was taken from the island – the survey team was told not to take animal or mineral samples from Southsun, but they took advantage of the loophole to grab some vegetable samples.)

if she’s as tricky as the dredge say, how can we trust that she HAS come from the city? for all we know, she was lying to them.

Well I admit when the Norn are so oblivious that they even forget that they have a child like Eir does, they can as well forget that the nice girl next door did not grow up with them but recently just came there as a stranger.^^

Prolly the reason they care so much about their legend. Even your parents forget you ever existed when you are not constantly around >.< /irony

My vote is for Shiny, probably upset at being stuck in the Hidden City this whole time.

Were we supposed to get a hint of the Nemesis in F&F? The most suspicious person I thought was the consortium, but I never came across anything that made an obvious point to nemesis.

I considered her, but anything “snakey” kinda points to some kinda Krait? Why though would a Krait come from “The City”. The City implies one of the six major cities one would assume. There are friendly Ogre in L.A. but never seen a Krait there. Oh. Please say we’re getting a new, fully underwater city…pleaseplease. Ehm, I dunno. Krait are slavedrivers too, like Dredge and Charr…could be some kind of connection there. “She”….well most krait bosses are witches aren’t they, which by the voice acting all seem Female.

Could be anything. I’d like to think Bubbles is a serpentine creature looking to control land dwellers for his own gains, but I suspect it’s gonna be a very long time until the deep sea dragon reveals him/herself, not to mention it’s not so much a “personal nemesis” as a “world kitten”. For now my money’s on some kind of Krait. Interesting to see though.

Lionguard Inspector Kiel is my guess.
