Detailed dungeon evaluation coming up, if you haven’t done it, don’t read it as it may contian spoilers!
With that said:
Alltogether a great experience, well designed, with intresting mechanics. In detail:
1. The first part with the digging machine is something new. The ore nodes are a great addition, they are excellent mini-rewards for the smaller fights. Even without the azurite it would be great, the crystals are just an extra. It’s well desingned, that you have the time to mess around with the mobs since the digging is still going on.
2. The weapon tester miniboss. What to say: unique, intersting, fun. It’s cool that you get to learn a bit before you get to the end bosses. I enjoyed this part very much at the first time. And the second. And the third. Braham and Rox are very helpful here, it’s nice to have some ‘gameplay’ interaction with them too.
3. Freeing slaves. Reguler mob hunt with the new Molten mobs. Intresting, but a bit too long for my tastes, still good. (the crushers got me at first:) )
4. Endboss. Pure awesome. From Brahams dialouge and the entrance til the end. Hard, but not impossible, well balanced with a fair amout of challange. At first it took 5 tries.
Love that the other power ups, so it doesn’t turn into mindless autoattacking after you defeat one of them. Also a nice touch that you have to be on the run and dodging all the time, not a dull moment in that fight.
Their entrance is hilarious. As someone mentioned in another topic, it’s like somekind of an powerranger boss entrance.
The rewards are corresponding to the challange imo.
5. The escape. Nice touch. It reminds me of Super Metroids ending wich is always a bonus.
6. Bonuses. I found the dialouges (Braham and Rox) to be appropriate and funny at times. Braham shouting ‘We can do this!’ is very on spot. I liked these two at the Razing too, since then, I like them even more.
The hidden 1-time treasures are also great, adds something to the atmosphere as you can see, there have been casualties.
Basic molten mobs are always intersting to fight (altough I hate the protector:) ).
The coolent box part was a nice change of pace.
Well I think that’s about it.
Ps.: I have run it 3 times, and I will run it more. All 3 times with PUGs. Everyone in the groups agreed that the dungeon was great. Plus my active guildies too (10+ peeps).
Tl;Dr: Great, Fun dungeon. GJ Anet!
