There’s something about the way the redirection page for links in forum posts is handled that prevents me from being able to open them in a new tab. I keep getting
The page you were looking for doesn’t exist.

when I CTRL+click, but if I click directly I get the normal “This link is taking you away from the forums” page.
I would really like it if I could get the links to open in a new tab so I could go look at the external links without losing my place in the thread. I can use copy and paste, but some folks (like me) use the formatting to add links to the text of our post to make it more readable instead, so the only way to get the URL to copy is to quote the post and it’s kind of a pain.
OK I figured out what the problem was – the original poster didn’t include the http part of the URL, and someone who quoted them further down wrapped the link in the URL tags without adding the HTTP part… instant broken link whether you click on it or ctrl+click on it.
So – nothing really to do here except for me to pay a little closer attention to what’s going on before I post something as a bug…
