I’m a bit surprised how quickly this thing escalated. People don’t want to organize groups for the blitz anymore, instead they all stand in the middle of the map on each overflow and spam “join” button to one or two overflows where people are doing it right. I tried myself to organize some runs yesterday but all I get are replies like “waste of time” or “just join taxi”.

Those who wish to do ogranized runs for gold reward are forced to either waste 30 min spamming “join” button to another overflow or do it with the guild (if the guild has at least 20-30 active people willing to do the blitz as well). I’m afraid this situation will only get worse and worse in the upcoming weeks. I like this event for it’s mechanics and decent rewards, but sadly I can’t fully experience it because of other’s people lack of motivation or simple laziness.

Brilliant design.

Not to mention it only gets done in narrow prime time.

Now, this makes everything all right then lol

Well, to be fair, I’ve seen the downside of running with upscales. Of a team of 10 on Kuraii yesterday, 6 were upscales (some in their mid-20s level) and 4 of us 80s. And we were last on several kills because there was time wasted on picking folks up after getting steamrolled by centaur, but we did make gold in the end.

Thing is I don’t see the Boss Blitz a viable leveling method, mobs give no xp, don’t even count for daily kills, all the xp you get in there is from the event reward and that is scaled down substantially with lower levels. Plus anyone opening their chests on a low level will get green bags, not exotics. An 80 simply can support their team more, get exotic bags from chests and can farm the tokens easily to buy tomes of knowledge for any leveling chars they may have.

We need some clarification from anet regarding charging for a gold pavilion taxi, if its LFG abuse then let us report them as such. I’ve never been against dungeon run sellers or the drok’s run from gw1 etc, but this is pathetic money grabbing & it seems to be getting worse. I was looking for a taxi today & there were four listings, all wanting between 50s & 2g, I always tip a taxi, but never when payment is expected for doing absolutely nothing of worth.

I don’t see the downside here. if you want to organize a run, organize a run. Start by getting people you know – from your friend’s list or guild (guilds are there to facilitate organization) – then go to the lfg and start taxiing people in.

If you want to be a leader, start with organizing people. That may require joining (or starting) an organized guild – or simply pulling people from your friends list.

I know when my guild does this, we take time to go to the lfg tool and bring people onto the map if we need them. It just makes sense.

I love the direction the game is taking. It encourages community involvement and helps us form tighter knit groups among those who enjoy this type of content. Its still okay to be a “lone ranger” style player, but you have accept that it will be harder for those type of players to get into groups – because priority will be given to those people we already know want to work as a team (guildees, friends lists, etc).

As far as people charging gold to taxi (which I havent seen in game yet) – we need to fight against this kind of behavior. Ignore these kind of requests and they will eventually go away.

Hope that GW2 steers away from that as possibly as it can.

To be fair, this is a festival that should be enjoyable for everyone not just “well geared lvl 80”. Try to play upscaled, yes its a hindrance. Ive leveled few characters through www, I know how painful it is. But its not my/THEIR fault, so please next time point a finger in right direction.

People complained that megaservers prevented them from playing with guild members and people from their own worlds.

Now people are complaining that there are no EotM-like megaservers for events like these to consolidate the population that’s spread throughout the world servers (and timezones) and to make queuing possible. Make up your own minds people. XD

OK, maybe the option to join either a world server map instance or a megaserver map instance would be nice.

I don’t even know what you are or they are trying to say. The Pavillion is certainly a Mega Server zone. We’re all lumped together. The only thing people are doing is hoping between the number of zones available. If it’s 6, 9, or 10 total instances no one knows but, Anet.

While I agree it’s lame, I’m just confused how it could be considered abuse. It’d be like a guy holding his fist out and you running head first into it then screaming assault. At some point we have to accept that if people are moronic enough to do something they deserve it because it’ll be a lesson to them.

Pavilion has little to do with the way mega server works given it low cap. For all intents and purposes, the the Pavillion would have triggered the overflow. So it doesn’t matter the only difference is that the Pavillion isn’t a cake walk.

Reading these topics it seems apparent that the people angry about these are mostly the same ones complaining about every single thing about the pavilion. Oh no, anet is finally making the game to require a brain.

Saying people that get scammed deserve it? That’s definitely not making you more believable. There’s no way of knowing a person is indeed in said overflow or not at all.

In order to organise, people “need” 6 tags.

I mean this is like dumping 50 people in a field and telling them to “go organise”, with a dozen different nationalities, limited communication (1 maybe 2 chat channels), no knowledge of what people need to do, no established method on how to tackle the content.

Because really the content itself isn’t actually all that hard, but for random people to go organise? That doesn’t even happen in real life.

Once organised though, the content really is fairly easy. I have yet to see a complete group fully wipe at a boss. So each boss is a cake walk, killing them at the same time might prove more difficult. Maybe you hit a few silvers, but that’s it.

Every so often I get into a pug map and start calling out to people.

for example, during funding;
“shall we make this an organised run all? ….I’m waiting at pyro..anybody eles care to join, remember 6 per boss is enough …lets do this”

During a bronze blitz.
“boss y has nobody, we only need 6 at a boss, 5 people come, come join me, lets speed this up”.

It’s about 50/50 this works.
And you turn a unorganised pug map into an organised, sometimes you start get comms, and before you know it, you’re getting golds easily.

Now I’m not disagreeing with you, anet really didnt add anything to help facilitate organisation. And what they shouldve done has been commented at large (hopefully they’ll take into account in future content).

I just wanted to point out, it’s not that hard to organise a pug map, I find it seems to be getting easier the longer blitz is around. This is because more people know what to do, and more people are communicating.
_
[This part isnt directed at you]

, someone else above mentioned, during zerging.
There’s alot of people who know they can tag a boss, walk away and still get credit. But stay there.. because being in the middle is boring/got there first/ dont want to because its fail anyway.
My point here is, just asking people to leave isnt enough.

If you want it to be quicker… say something like “I’m going to wait in the middle, already got my tag… who’s coming with me?”.

Or anyone want to farm pirates? (assuming wigs is dead). Dont complain about the zerg, if you’re participating in the zerg.

Don’t you ever wish Anet didn’t have to go out of their way to add sophisticated and costly features to facilitate communication, cooperation, and organization? Why must human beings behave so horribly in video games? Why do we have to be babied and hand-held into playing a certain way? Why can’t we just use map chat and teamspeak and Jolly Cooperation?

firstly..
why should we have to use teamspeak?

secondly. Alot of people have map chat turned off, they do not think of turning it on. It’s not intentional, they just usual have it off and doesnt cross their mind to turn it on.
In this case, anet should force chat option to default. ie map =on

For EU. You could have a group who want to listen, bat happen to have a different client language than yours.
The client language block, is a default setting, most people do not know this exists. This is definitely anets problem and yes they should have created something more to facilitate organisation.

Also, how much more costly would it have been, to simply have all boss health shown on map, despite which boss you’re near?
and then to have (since boss scaling clearly has this ability.) to show number of players which are within 1800 range of the boss?

If anet wants to create organise content, I’m all for it.
but organised content, requires organisation tools.

True… 100% agree. It’s very depressing how many people simply can’t do the bare minimum of communication and cooperation in an MMO.

HOWEVER. in this situation the game is causing some issues. I can’t repeat the health % of my boss without being suppressed. THey have the abiity and have used it before where all the healths are on the event window. That alone would solve that issue and bypass the restriction in chatting as it would no longer be needed. (like defenses on teq).

There are some weird quirks in GW2 that can be troublesome.

Those ideas are great, except I’d be a little worried about screen clutter if there are a lot of bosses and other metrics which need to be shown.

As for teamspeak, I think it is absurd for people to refuse to use it, especially for hard encounters. It’s free and takes 30 seconds to download and install. You don’t even need a mic to listen to a commander. Sure you might be able to see the bosses health bar, but you can’t honestly tell me that pugs stop DPS at 5% without someone barking the order verbally. And good luck getting suppressed in chat trying to type commands. That’s assuming you can or even should be typing messages in the middle of combat. And as you said, some of those people don’t even have their chat turned on. You’re advocating we force chat to be turned on, but don’t force people to use voip? You want to enforce an older, archaic means of communication which directly interferes with combat performance and is plagued by anti-spam measures, yet disregard a simple, free, easy-to-use, streamlined, 1 button form of communication?

pav is in no way hard.
map communication is more than enough. On pugs we call the stop order at 10% and slow order at 15%. Works just fine.

I meant mini version of all boss health.
With numbers showing on the boss you’re at.

That shouldnt be too much clutter, though you’d probably have to minimise achieves/story pop up on the side.
_
I dont think expecting people to use a program outside of game. (with god knows how many channels you ‘d have to link into if you do random pug servers often).
It’s out of the game. It should not be expected just to get through content.

If anet wants to make content like this, the need to make in game features to aid organisation.
___________
saying all that, I know a few people who have bought comm tags JUST because of pav. So I cant help wonder, if it was just to encourage another gold sink.

I’m a bit surprised how quickly this thing escalated. People don’t want to organize groups for the blitz anymore

The other day there was a TTS Commander (only 1) in my Pavilion instance who tried to organize several runs from the random people there. She even gave out a TTS Teamspeak channel – only 3 people joined her on TS and hardly anyone listened to her directions (typed out) during the runs. By the third run and everyone killing the bosses willy-nilly and then running to Boom Boom, she gave up and I don’t blame her. She’ll probably never try that again.

If Anet is going to have this kind of event that requires organization, they should give a special achievement or title to people willing to organize people who are not in their guild (Herder of Cats?). Of course it would be very difficult to tell who is actually trying to organize so I don’t know how that would work. But there needs to be some kind of incentive.

That’s how blitz raids start. You don’t just go to a random map and ask everyone to hop on TS.
