How do target yourself?

/why oh why can we not display our own nameplate/guild/title yet!? This is the only MMO I’ve ever played that doesn’t allow this simple feature. What good’s my title if I can never see it?

I did it! It took me a while, but I finally did it!

Being as I did not really do the gauntlet at all last year so I just started from tier one a couple days ago, I’m happy. I feel very accomplished right now.

After many tries last year and this update, I finally did it. With a couple of improvements around the fights, things went a bit more smoothly, while the fight itself still was a pretty challenging fight that I glad to have finally beaten.:)

I guess it’s my turn. ALL the achievements completed… and all of them with the same character and weapons.

Warrior, Condition build, bow and greatsword ^^.

I did it in 16 try’s thx to mango pie <3.

You wanna talk about inferior I used a Warrior in Sentinel, GS/LB.

Beat her again on the weekend. Took me 70+ tickets last year. Got it in just 12 this time.

Now to keep plugging away at that blasted Light Up the Darkness achievement…

How many MMOs don’t have an Oceanic server?

Last year I got all of the achievements leading up to defeating Liadri and getting the miniature. I was pretty poorly geared and didn’t have that much gold or time to get properly prepared for the remaining difficult ones, and when I read that the Queen’s Gauntlet would be returning, I decided to postpone any more attempts at the gambit + Meatless Murderer achievements.

But now that I am properly geared and have access to 3 level 80 chars (guardian, thief, and warrior) I was finally able to finish the job. Thanks Anet for bringing this back.

I FINALLY DID IT!!!

I have no idea how many tries it took, I lost count, but it was a lot. Last August I spent every free minute I had trying to beat her and this time around it was my main focus, I only did the other festival stuff when I needed a break.

Every time I got a little closer it was a great feeling and every time I screwed up I’d remind myself of that and was determined to do better next time. And then I finally got that one time when everything went right – the orbs didn’t pull me into Visions, I remembered the pattern and hit all the buttons in the right order and finally I managed to kill her.

I did it!!
Today in 6 tries (16 total).

Last Year: 40 tries to kill her with mesmer.
This Year: 2 tries to kill her with warrior.

Light Up the Darkness achievement: 30 tries with warrior.

Should of been for 8 orbs

I finally did it an hour ago. I did it on my ranger, and finally didn’t get caught on the edge of the aoe attack, which happened quite a few to many times.

Was kinda sad to see my pet hobble behind me crippled and dead the whole time

Holy cow, I did it!

Took me 110+ tries and I was so extremely frustrated and angry at times. I even ragequit a few times. But when I actually beat her…it was total ownage…I beat her badly.

I’ll say this: The purpose of a challenge is to push you to your limits …and then a bit further. And this fulfills this goal. I am a better player for the effort I spent playing her.

I’m better at circle-strafing, at managing multiple simultaneous threats, and better understand my skills and traits. Overall it turned out to be a good and valuable experience.

I achieved it on a LB Ranger with full ascended zerker gear. 6/4/4 traits with Vigorous Renewal and Natures Bounty + triple signet skills (hunt, stone and renewal) + Troll Ungent + Mangos + triple boosters (armor, damage, regen)

The Blazing Light reporting in. Took me about 20-30 tries, then I just rifled her. Good stuff!

Get a party member to target you.

Managed to defeat her last night, didn’t take too long. Was nice to earn something that required only myself and not a zerg.

I missed the gauntlet first time around, and I gather she’s quite a bit easier now… /shudder. I estimate it took me 60ish tries with various builds until I finally beat her by buying some green condition gear and circle strafing her with a rifle…

Great event, nice to do content that needs learning and perseverance, and where success or failure rests squarely on your own shoulders.

Done with the same build I used last year on my Thief, no silly blood sigil gimmicks.

Lucky you. XD I live in a firmly Labor-held seat, so our area was slated to be one of the last to get the NBN, and now with the Libs in charge and cost-cutting, it’s likely we’ll never see the NBN in my area at all.

Yeah, I got extremely lucky with the NBN lottery – most folks I know have missed out. You might still be able to get FTTN though, as opposed to FTTP.

Yet another reason to kick Abbott out…:-)

Well, I get to join the club….. at long last.

100+ attempts later, I finally killed Liadri over the weekend. (New armor, new runes, upgraded trinkets to ascended, and a new keyboard later….my wallets are crying…)

Not going back for the 8 orb achieve. Nopers… just killing her was sufficient, tyvm.

I don’t have a screenie on me atm. I will update a little later with ‘proof.’

After about 25 tries I got her down thanks to a lucky pull from an orb saving my bacon!

Took me about 35-40 tries, but eventually I got it. I know that may seem like lots to many of you but I am very happy to have been able to do it at 49 years of age at all.

It would have been a lot easier if your pet could live more than a few seconds (seriously, Anet, I know you can exempt pets from AOEs, would it really kill you?)

Only if they exempt phantasms and minions from it too.

I didn’t play the gauntlet last year but heard people raving about it, especially Liadri so this year it was a must attend.

I got my first Liadri kill on engie before I started looking how other people were doing it, after which I repeated the feat on my warrior and mesmer. Really happy to do it on mesmer since she was the character that had done all the other bosses up to Liadri.

8 Orb Liadri was on my engie, as was High Stakes Gambler, Meatless Murder and regular Liadri. All other achievements were done by my mesmer.

Imo the title should be for 8 orbs and the mini for the regular kill. Waaay too many people in LA with the title. I’d really like to separate the regular killers from the 8 orbs ones because THAT’s the one I want to show off

50 trys later and i finally got it!! now my “paladin” has a title worth while to wear!

Kept forgetting to post this. I swore to myself after last year that I wouldn’t do it again. But that title… the draw was too strong.

I really didn’t think I would ever get it, but after about 174 tries and retraiting, relearning my class, and beating my head against a wall…. I got it, and it feels good.

Nailed my final achievement in the Gauntlet category last night… probably close to 100 tries or so, but at last I have Light up the Darkness and since I lost count (as always) it was probably even 9 orbs-kill for all I know

I live in Australia too, and I got the 8 orbs last year when the event was harder, took me 100 goes lol. Enjoyed every attempt. Keep at it, you’ll get it. Doing 8 orbs on Australian internet = hard mode, Americans and Europeans have it easy!

i did it last night. needed few days of intensive play to remember movement + key-bound (it was like playing some instrument, after practice could do it without thinking, fingers playing on their own:)) so to do 1st phase very quickly..

solo preforming in front of others was interesting experience.
sometimes there would be smartiesess about build mostly (you dont need this in build you need that and that, also that and that! hate when ppl think to know what i need, and all in good intention:))
sometimes fellow title hunters were great company, we were cheering each other, and it really helped:) and its really hard not to compassion when you see someone died at few % of boss hp or (even worse as if it is possible!) fell down trough floor.

but ye after beating her, she feels reachable and not so hard heh..

The new flexibility of traits makes all of these fights much more fun. Easy just to try a few things then change them up if it doesn’t work.

I finally got it! A warrior rifle build with stances, adrenal health, and Healing Signet were all I needed. I discovered that slow and steady wins the race, and that trying to frantically outrun Liadri just gets you killed. Keep circling around, crippling her and using the rifle butt when needed, and it’s not too bad.
