Big Voice Question : Wow Headless Horseman or Madking
I have not even played WoW and never will so the obvious choice is Mad King
Mad King Thorn.
Headless Horseman is a rip-off of an existing tale that’s been going on for a few hundred years, i think it’s from England and he doesn’t really show up alot in WoW, last Halloween he burned a few houses and you had to extinguish them with water.
Mad King has a backstory and history behind him in GW lore, whereas Headless is just a half-arsed idea lifted from something else, unsurprising laziness by Blizzard, to toss in as mostly an afterthought for Halloween.
Mad King Thorn all the way, I fell in love with the concept of the character the first time I heard about him. Good Ol’ Headless just seemed to be a rip off of the actual Headless Horseman, but done incredibly poorly… (If you’re going to rip off something to the point it shares the same name at least make it faithful to it’s inspiration, if you’re not gonna rip it off completely actually put some thought into your creation.)
The headless horseman, and the entire WoW halloween event is from years, the best halloween event ever made, and every year was even better and funnier, i enjoyed it like mad every year, until i left wow, cata days.
Naturally, I would vote for the Mad King!
Your title confuses me. Are you referring to the voice acting, or the whole character?
Either way, I prefer Thorn. He is more of an actual character, rather than a concept.
I vote Horseless-Headless-Horseman from TF2.
Psh – if you’re gonna choose a TF2 character, you’ve gotta choose Merasmus! His lines for this TF2 halloween special are golden!
Never played WoW, so I’m gonna have to go with Mad King…plus he tells jokes and kills people if they don’t laugh at them, or do as he says, though he has gotten a bit soft since GW1’s days.
Voice-wise, I’d say Headless Horseman. I get chills and feel giddy when I hear him talk. I say his lines along with him and it makes my hubby laugh.
Voice-wise for Mad King Thorn is still good in his own way and while not memorable in the same way Headless Horseman is, is memorable in the way that he’s a nut but in a way, he’s a loveable nut. It took a bit to warm up to this character, but he still has a charm to him.
Honestly, I like both of them but for different reasons. I don’t see why a few folks want to bash the Headless Horseman but that’s just their thing, I guess.
Seeing as I’m playing GW2 and not WoW – MKT wins heads down…
I would have preferred him to be a little more GW1 -but can’t have everything – his transition to GW2 was pretty good.
Mad King. Headless Horseman is just… meh.
Mad King Thorn. I personally believe that Headless Horseman flew better as a concept, something to put in concept art. And to leave it at that. Plus, Its just a re-incarnation of a age old story.
Mad King Thorn, Not only has backstory and lore supporting who he is a character, But he has been a constant voice in the Guild Wars lore. There is reason for his coming, reason for his going, and reason for all his deadly (sometimes) humor.
Mad King Thorn, hands down.

As a former WOW player for past 5 years I can honestly say Mad King Thorn has much much more interesting character and lore and to me he is just so much cooler.
Mad King has a backstory and history behind him in GW lore, whereas Headless is just a half-arsed idea lifted from something else, unsurprising laziness by Blizzard, to toss in as mostly an afterthought for Halloween.
To be fair, the Mad King is no more original than the Headless Horseman. However, playing both GW2 and the other mmo’s Halloween events, considering bugs/problems/bad design choices, I think they are a dead heat.
Headless Horseman wasn’t bad. It was the first boss event for a holiday (in WoW) I do believe. And I really enjoyed Halloween in WoW (was probably the first MMO I played that celebrated holidays pretty efficiently and I think it was the first holiday I experienced in WoW).
Most other MMOs I played prior to that only did like small things like collect items for a hat/costume item, etc.
But hands down, I felt that Thorn was significantly better. I enjoyed it in GW1, and this blew me away. Was so much to do and I really enjoyed it all, even the stressful bits. There was such a range of activities that I can’t wait to see the other holidays.
Character wise Thorn obviously has more personality then Headless Horseman, just because Thorn has a place in Tyria. I’m not sure, but I don’t recall if the Headless Horseman even has any lore behind him does he? Other then the old ghost tale.
The headless horseman, and the entire WoW Halloween event is from years, the best Halloween event ever made, and every year was even better and funnier, i enjoyed it like mad every year, until i left wow, cata days.
Fail…You do realize that the WoW event HAS NOT changed AT ALL since it was released…they just up the dungeon level ever year and add more trick or trick baskets.
Mad King Thorn Wins hands down…Although I do hope they add more to it next year so it isn’t the same thing over and over.

Kea.8210, you are absolutely wrong. While the dungeon remains largely the same, the Hallows End event in Wow get’s upgraded and changed rather often. New events added (throwing rotten eggs at rival cities while riding on a witch broom, protecting your effigy etc) and new items. I’ve left wow in favor of GW2, but that doesn’t mean I’m blind to the work the game puts into it’s events.
Im asking about voices ( not exactly lore) … this was a simple question because i like his scream and coming scene (headless) and also MK’s talking voice too and i couldnt decide which one is better but i think bc of some reason people argue about lores

Meh..yeah forgot about the stink bombs but thats kinda small in comparison
WoW’s early Holidays were crap. Years later, they became fun and full of flavor. But there never was much story behind it. There was explanation and that’s it.
Mostly, you just did them to collect a mount. Or an outfit that you never wear (looking at you Lunar Clothes and Valentines Day Dress).
GW2, it isn’t much different. You get weapon skins and town clothes. But there is more going on and the event hit the ground running. It can only get better with time.
Thorn was just more appealing to me.
