some people have gotten stuff out of the chests already…it has already started

Incorrect. People have gotten and screen shot-ed the drops already. Its just a stupid low drop rate. Someone uses a key they got from story completion and gets one, other people waste $50+ for nothing.

Usually when you open those Chests you get another key. Not any more. Opened 5 Chests and not a single new key. Imagine that. Just a bunch or worthless tonics and XP boosters. Smartest move I made was to sell all those Chests I’ve accumulated so I wouldn’t even be tempted to open them.

Exactly… If i knew the drop rate was below 1% I would have just bought the Witch Costume and moved on… didn’t think I Would get royally screwed over…

Anet learnt a lot from Frogster.

I mean the thing is, we know what BLC are. People said the same thing when the perma-vendors were released on how bad the drops were. ANet just said they were there, they did not make any concession that they were changing drop rates to coincide with people’s expectations. There is also an entire subset available through crafting that is permanent, which is rewarding some in-game work. (instead of pay for instant lootz)

I don’t like it either, that said:

1. You could WAIT and read other’s feedback before purchasing anything. (like I did, sweet..) They never said they were limited time other than the event…this means you are probably into instant gratification which BLC never were.

2. You could go in-game (like me…) and work on finding the recipes for the perma ones (that will be resell-able)…

3. You can’t sell the weapons from them, so while you can’t ‘collect em’ all’ it makes way more sense for min-maxers and econo-freaks to go after the recipie items so they can corner the market after the event ends.

4. As for GW1 comparisons, team is bigger, game is a real MMO (with no sub fee…) I think it’s fine and if people jump the gun on it without research then I think you get what you deserve to an extent…what do you think is paying for this event — It can’t be a sub fee. The point is no one forced you to buy gems.

5. Just like lottery tickets, people will buy things for low return on investment. And despite the posts here, people will do it all over again the next time….once again without any research or thought.
