How much money did you spend on BL keys...
50 ingame gold
no skins
Spent $0 and I don’t plan on spending any money in the foreseeable future. I had a small stash of keys but didn’t get a skin. That’s ok though. If I did get a skin I just would have sold it on the trading post anyways since some of them were going for lots of goldz.
Absolutely nothing. They contain crap, and the “drop rate” from MK chests are too poor.
I feel that the drop rate of the keys has been lower during this event than normal, but it is only a feeling.
$50, which came out to around 80ish BLC+MK chests opened I think? Something around there. 0 skins. Just relaying the numbers.
$100, 2 gourd rifle skins and 2 different shoulders (the cheapest of all the skins. sigh.) The sad part is that the two rifle skins came from two free keys as compared to all the ones I bought.
Sir Darknass.1903 you should read the post title before posting.
@Creed.3258 I was actually thinking of buying keys. However, the key that I got for a quest resulted in a greatsaw and a chain sword
So your saying you got 2 skins from using one key? Right I’m sure you did.

They really need to make a forum just for those of us that spend actual money. We are the ones that pay the bills after all.
Fact is I won’t spend another dime on the game. Christmas MIGHT change that, but that’s a very big might. Over all I’ve lost my faith in Anet almost completely. They are not the same company they used to be.
I know they burned plenty of people with this event. The only way to get through to them though is to cut them off. I’ve since removed my card from the system, and that’s that. I could have bought a years sub to WoW for what I’ve put into it so far. Up until this event I didn’t regret it at all. I felt like it was good because I wanted to support Anet. Seeing this though has changed that feeling.
50$ wasn’t as much as some people. I don’t even mind that I didn’t get any skins. What I mind is the way everything was handled. The first few days I was thinking “hey, I didn’t expect anything. I got nothing, so it’s cool”. As it went on though it really became apparent that this was just one big money grab.
I haven’t spent any money on gems yet and I doubt I will, I think the prices are a rip-off. (But to each their own, of course.)
I am, however, surprised that some people spent more money on the chance to get one, maybe two Halloween skins than they did on the whole game. People are obviously free to do with their money as they please, but I can’t say I see the appeal. The RNG nature of the chests makes them a very bad investment, I think.
I bought one 5 pack out of curiosity and that was even when I knew the drop rates were bad. I wanted to at least try a few. I didn’t get anything, so it’s not something I’m likely to repeat.
5 keys. Which, due to outrageously decent luck, yielded 50-something gold once the scythe staff and crazy looking shield that showed up in the chests were sold.
So … had a great deal of fun doing all the various Halloween things strewn around the world. Had a good laugh at antics of the Mad King and the like. Killed lots of hilarious candy corn monsters – regular and jumbo sized – along with plenty of glowing skeletons.
Increased my gold by 10 fold.
Highly successful event in my book

No gambling favors the player. That is why casinos can stay in business.
Seems like you are one of people I mentioned who has never gambled or been in a casino, did you know that craps odds are actually in the players favor? No? Yeah didn’t think so.
Two stacks of keys and nothing Halloween related, but several karma and magic find boosters. And more fodder for the Mystic Forge!
I also got the pets because I never want to be without a plastic spider ever again.
People that call this illegal gambling are fools. You buy a key, you unlock the box, you get something everytime. Whether or not it’s something you wanted is entirely subjective, you’re the ones that voluntarily turn it into a gamble and then lash out when you don’t get what you want.
kittening hilarious.

Spent $0 on key and $1 on a lottery ticket. Won nothing on both but I had a couple wonderful minutes of daydreaming if I won the lottery ticket. That’s the money well spent
I wouldn’t spend any RL money on a cosmetic item, especially not if it involved gambling.
During the event I’ve only opened 2 BLC so far with keys I got from map completion. I didn’t get lucky so shrugged and continued to enjoy the event.

Sorry, it is you who has no idea what they are talking about. No casino game favours the player, they all favour the house. However, they make the chances slim enough on some games for you to think that you have a chance to win, thus keeping you in the casino and your money flowing in to their vault.
Man, I don’t even wanna add it up to find out. I bought 20 keys, both costumes, the reaper mask, two packs of minis to get all 4, another bank tab to hold all the Halloween stuff, and converted the remaining to gold when it was up to 10g per 1k gems.
I was pretty upset with the state of the BLCs, but once you buy the keys, there is nothing else you can do with them, so you might as well use them right? Felt much better after the MKC patch which was exactly what I thought the BLCs were going to be. So in the end, I got exactly what I paid for.
I think I need to delete my CC info for my own good and just keep a gem card in my wallet for emergencies ^.^

I spent $20 and that included a few other bits. I think I bought 3 lots of 5 keys. Maybe the price on them will go back up at some point and I can unload my 50+ chests. I inwardly groan every time I get one as a random drop.
Zero real money.
A couple in-game gold for all the Halloween minipets (about 9g), 36g for the greatsaw skin, and bought a key today and got the 1h sword chainsaw lol.
None, I don’t gamble with real money.
I had a few keys that dropped in game and got enough tonics and boost out of it to gamble the forge chests a couple time… sadly, no luck on the skins whatsoever.
Don’t believe the trolls that are stating they spent nothing and got six skins, or that they got two skins from one chest etc.
Sad that people have to troll like that but I guess it gets them off.

Well that just goes without saying on the internet.
Quick survey of my guild shows a total of $0 spent. Out of the 10 or so people in my guild who religiously ran MK and used keys/gems they had stockpiled when gems were selling for 300+ per gold, I think one got a skin.
during this event 0- Got a few keys early on like 2nd week of GW2 in and out of the 5 keys kept winning a key in ever chest so was able to open 30+ but thats was all I got but for some useless tonics and a few boosters . Not my ideal of fun
6k gems and a the cheapest weapon skin, the broken dagger thingy :S

None. I think I got my money’s worth.

Oh hey look here is another web page……you seriously take info on Wikipedia at face value? wow. Just because its on the internet it must be true >.> .The thing is craps on that page are showing lowest house edge, showing it to be the most in the players favor. You obviously have never played black jack or poker or you would know that player skill > house edge. I have made more money off of black jack than I have lost and I have played quite a bit.
Sorry to be off topic a little but gambling in this game is far different and way worse than a casinos odds, and i hate to see players making uninformed comparisons.

I spent nothing on the black lion chest and lost nothing.
Instead I opted to farm my way thru Halloween, and received several of the Halloween exotic weapon skins, mad king’s armor pieces, and at least a stack of each event mat. So overall I’m quite pleased with the outcome.
I figured the drop rate on the BLC’s would be quite low and if I were to ever consider buying any keys I definitely would hold off until an actual drop rate was confirmed. After all I wouldn’t want to make the gamble bigger then it already is.
Aside from that the Halloween BL chest drops are still available until Nov. 15th so the availability will probably increase and prices decrease if people are still opening them… so happy gambling
Spent absolutely nothing. Opened about 10 chests between a few keys I had lying around from story missions, and using all my spare Mystery Tonics / boosts to make Mad King Chests. Got no skins out of those.
Not mad. Wasn’t really expecting to get anything out of the few I could get. And I managed to buy a Grinning Gourd Rifle skin and Deathly Avian Shoulderpads skin off the TP so that I’d at least have some halloween items (really wanted the shield but way too expensive for me, I got those 2 because they were the ones that looked decent and weren’t insanely expensive). Thankfully I made my purchases before all the “market players” came and bought all the cheap skins to jack up the prices, ended up spending around 3g total for those two (which was still almost all of my money), but if I tried to buy them today I’d probably have to spend 15g >.>.
Now if we want to talk about what I AM mad about, then that’d be the Mad King dungeon. I spent all 3 days it was up running it almost non-stop (as much as my playtime would allow anyway) just hoping to get one single halloween weapon, and got practically nothing. A ton of greens, 4 exotics including one Mad King item, and crafting materials. No recipes, no weapons, and thanks to having a generic model the one rare item I did get is worth nothing either. A boring grind for nothing.
