So, you're disappointed about the cutscene?
+1
Thank you!
I am not. I loved how the statue fell apart completely and the mad realm opened. How the Mad King tried to crawl out and Tassi attacking him with spells until he retreated down again, leaving the portal open behind him.
I thought the cut-scene was awesome. My only disappointment is that my cut-scene was bugged and the Mad King model did not appear. So all I saw was Magister Tassi fighting an empty hole. I’m not the only one who experienced this bug.
Thank goodness there are folks on YouTube who posted the non-bugged version!

Although I didnt see it, I dont know why people whine so much… what on earth were they expecting?

I was expecting an event, as in: a dynamic event.
Not a cutscene at all.
Not saying that I should have, just answering your question.
I didn’t even the hole in the ground, the game went down.
Dragonbrand – Level 80 – Human Ranger
I was expecting a new car. Isn’t that what they said we were getting. What a dissappointment
Unfortunately, the cutscene was bugged for me, but I’m not complaining. I checked YouTube and that was just as good as if I would’ve seen it in game. I enjoyed both that and the instance. Good job, Arenanet!
You’ve got your whiners and your fanboys, two sides of the same coin.
Even though I thought the one time event was going to be more than just a cutscene, it was an awesome one. I also don’t feel about blowing off football for that custscene.
Cutscene was very good indeed. Dungeon was however EPIC FAIL.
mine was bugged too, and yet i still felt really excited to see the cut scene!
I thought it was fun and pretty funny. I was hoping the King would bust out and we’d all fight him right there as a group. That would have been fun. A little crazy, but fun.
You could’ve stayed in your warm, comfy little beds and missed it. You’re all aware of a site called YouTube, right? You would know that what ever it was that was happening would get captured by tons and tons of people and posted on YouTube, so nobody would really miss out.
Since we had no idea if the “event” was even going to be interactive or not (in fact, we kind of assumed it would, since Arena Net said people had to be online at that specific time), YouTube was hardly a guaranteed replacement.
If people knew this “unique event” would in fact be just an animated, non-interactive cinematic (which was actually bugged for a lot of people, as you can read about in other threads – all we saw was multiple shots of a hole in the ground), maybe they would indeed have just stayed in bed and watched it later on YouTube.
Or in-game, because it turns out that this “one-time event” repeats itself every now and then (okay, it’s not exactly the same – but it could be; the game could simply play the original cinematic when people log in).
So why on Earth (on Tyria?) Arena Net said it would be a one-time event that you “had to be online at that time to experience” is beyond me. I’m in Europe, so this was at a good time for me, but if I was in Asia or Oceania, I’d probably be feeling a bit annoyed.
Nice cutscene (for those who got to see it bug-free), not so good PR for people living on the “wrong” side of the planet, and I think they have every right to be miffed.

I got D/C right as it started so missed it. Typical.
