From what I heard on TS…

Only about 40% of MERC left, the rest including commanders and many good players remained and are going to form a new guild. Don’t quote me on this but its what it looks like . BG will still manage to get #1 in pve and wvw.

Reasons for this:

The game is not about numbers and blobs or about a single guild or person. It is about the community, good commanders and people having fun playing together wanting to play more. We saw that with Tequatl when Blackgate opened its Teamspeak server to help other servers and also when we guested to those servers to teach people the fight.

Blackgate has an unbelievable group of top commanders and players making up one of the best communities in the game. Some wvw TS channel are so fun to listen to because they match great tactics with some real fun commentaries by people I would personally love to meet in real life.

There are too many great people/guilds I would love to name here but in the end what matters is not being ultra competitive and very tight, it is about the image you project to the community and how you benefit that community. Blackgate has a great community and we seem to focus more on the fun part of the game and the community as a whole than on pure single-minded hardcore competition. that focus on fun helped us become the number one server when others were focusing on numbers and hardcore guilds.

Its the quality of the community as a whole that made Blackgate the number one server in wvw and in pve. This is why guild transferring away for personal reasons are irrelevant as there will always be attrition. As long as the community is made of great people the server will shine and people will want to play on it. That s just my opinion.

To the people dissing JQ in general please just stop lol. This is a game of coverage there is no hiding that. Guilds will come and go to what they think is best for them. I understand people may be upset but a guilds decision is not yours. Not whats between Tarkus and BG is between them no outsiders business. BG you are a strong server you will rebuild and continue to fight that much we know.

Good fights so far from…. OnS Seem to be running into you guys alot ….. PLX, NOPE, KnT, ICoa, and a small portion of Coin in EB yesterday. Keep the fights coming HzH is having fun.

what i do have a problem with is with how deep one servers’ pockets are to just buy an entire tier 1 population worth of guilds. an unconfirmed number i heard being thrown around was in the neighborhood of 30k gold.

SF and ex-PRX should really get to hounding JQ for the precursors they were promised for transferring over. Ol’ Jed’s been in a legal battle for months trying to get the buckets of gold he was promised for coming to JQ.

Seriously though. At most, guilds who transfer to JQ may get some assistance to pay for the transfer cost (just like any server would do). The idea that JQ guilds or any WvW guilds have treasure troves brimming with gold to give away is frankly ludicrous. And yet, such claims are always made whenever guilds transfers servers. Ridiculous.

Also, if you weren’t expecting this backlash, you’re delusional. Not only are people weirdly passionate about games, and even sports ( this is nothing compared to sports drama ), you left to a rival server without so much as a goodbye, apparently.

You (MERC) must’ve known how FUBAR that transfer was, and that’s probably why you never gave anyone warning. Which kind of bit you in the kitten because people just feel more offended.

1 We had around 20 last night? While we were being chased by around 40 most the night. So yes we were still very busy the time I played.
2 Really? Trying to insinuate I am delusional? I am not here to flame just give my honest perspective in a matter that concerns the guild I am in.
3 Ample warning was given for those who needed to know. Also I don’t think having players in wvw who are upset with me or the guild I am in hunting me in wvw as a bad thing. So nope, no bit kitten either.

I was supportive of your earlier recruiting because it was needed but you guys are really screwing the pooch now and that can ruin the game for all of us.

i don’t have anything against MERC leaving they can do what they want with their time.

i can understand everyones desire to win and be competitive in t1, and all the tier 1 servers can point fingers at each other for “stacking”, but this is beyond absurd now.

season 1 should be earned, not bought.

Tell that to the 1997 Florida Marlins.

*note – I do not agree with server-stacking for any reason. It’s only going to hurt the entire WvW experience in the long run.
