This is why I suggested that the so-called “harder” parts (the champion walls, for instance) should be shunted off down a side path with, perhaps, unique achievements and the potential for unique rewards attached so IF there’s a sufficient zerg around they can tackle it, but all the rest of the story stuff around is still reasonably navigable by a solo player.

Let the intervening mobs scale as needed, but introduce some downscaling to correct it when the number of players in a given space has waned for a while. I’m not privvy to why this seems such an alien concept to the devs—seems entirely obvious to me—so I’m going to assume there are pitfalls I’m not aware of. Even so, getting around them seems a worthwhile job to tackle.

We have dungeons that force a 5-player limit that serve perfectly well as sites for “harder” content as the devs can upscale as they see fit knowing there will (usually) always be exactly 5 players facing off against their designs. Open world is too volatile for this sort of thing in its current state if the devs really want people to participate out of choice and not just when carrots are dangling before them.

Just been in there tonight. It’s dead. I’m OC timezone in WvW guild. After trying to solo run through on 4 different classes and getting completely enraged by it, a couple of days ago l logged in NA timezone, had a last ditch attempt and was fortunate to group up with a few other pugs and make our way through. With a group it’s fun, solo wasn’t fun… Got the mini krait, it was enough.

This is a huge thread (for me!) and I’ve read 1/3 of it but don’t have time to continue. I just wanted to add my two cents. Each LS installment is a different puzzle, a different scenerio, requiring different measures to finish. Some ‘solutions’ are maybe what the devs envisioned but that is the beauty of a human player base improvising and iterating and finding the optimal path. For big events, you need lots of people. For smaller events, you need creativity. But so far, from my recollection, each event got me thinking about exploring different builds or doing it with a different toon. And that’s what’s refreshing in this game – it’s constantly changing.

The Tower sure seemed like “Zerg-Only” content. Even when starting at Level 3, it was near impossible to solo up to the Chest. Thankfully, it’s gone now.

Sadly, I no longer look forward to new LS content. It will simply be another episode of “you better get it done within the first few days or you can forget about it”. I completed the tower Part 1 but have not even bothered to do any of the part that is going on now.

not trying to be an kitten but

level 3 was easy to solo. the only thing i had trouble with was the portal area which i also figured out. there was a safe spot and also a method to lose agro so you could pick things off.

i soloed the whole tower cept the spider and wurm, which usually had people there anyways. it was no great feat either.

What I don’t understand is why the LS events don’t have scaling according to the number and level of the characters present? Yes you are scaled to 80 but a level 10 character scaled to 80 is not anywhere equal to a real level 80.

Because many players are uniquely equipped and traited up and it is extremely difficult to scale the events simply base on the level itself.

How embarrassing to actually post that concept.

Want to make content more difficult and more fun A-net?
Limit access to 5 or less players and everything resets when they come out. Period!
Zerg play has it’s place in WvW. Leave it there.

Then let’s see how many of these ltp comments show up.
