why would i want to turn into a krait ?
Why would you want to turn into a tree?
Or a furniture?
Or a Quaggan?
Transformation tonics are usually not really useful, but more like something fun, it also is quite useful in RP ^^

some tonics were useful to me in hiding from enemies in wvw ( except for that one deer incident in the caves, where I got a little too bold lol – but i digress ). – and there is hardly anyone ever hanging out in LA roleplaying. I don’t see how this is worth 24 gold of supplies to make.
Transformation tonics are fun while waiting for Tequatl to spawn. But I too am disappointed that there’s no set of costume brawl skills on such an expensive item. :-(

Very much this.
I absolutely cannot see why they keep making tonics with no costume brawl skills. The Krait tonic lacks them, and so did the Aetherized Tonic and the Molten tonic. Heck, even some of the older potions (like the 4 elemental potions) don’t have them.
Wasn’t the whole point of introducing Costume Brawl to give the transformations some extra functionality? What’s the point of having something that exists to give transforms a bit more “oomph” if they keep making transformations without taking advantage of that mechanic?

I’m just upset that the only emote that works is /threaten.
Costume brawl skills would have been amazing too though…or make it like the watchknight one and let me fight as a krait!
I made this tonic yesterday, and I really love it.
What annoys me greatly is the lack of attack animation and costume brawl skill. For an infinite tonic, I expect more than just being there “just for looks”.
I do enjoy the swimming and harvesting/resurrecting animations a lot, but I really wish it could be possible to see that last one just by typing an emote (like /dance or /beckon, I don’t care much, as long as I can see it without having to wait for someone to die, which usually means I have to defend myself, and therefore, can’t stay transformed).
If it let you walk through the tower/krait content uncontested it’d be worth it. Otherwise… not really?
peasants had no bread and who responded: “Let them eat brioche.”
Bout it’s only use is to give you a way, if you have so much money/matts you don’t know what to do with them, to kitten away money or matts and be able to say you didn’t just delete them.
It’s not for everyone, but I think that was pretty obvious about Tonics from the start. They’re just for fun, and if it’s not fun for you, that’s okay; that’s part of an MMO, designing a little something for everyone.
I’m very excited about being able to use this tonic in water, but I do think there’s a missed opportunity to give it some costume brawl skills, or some more emotes. Either way, as it is, I still thought it was fun enough to plunk down the gold for Armored Scales, and I don’t regret making it.
Playable Krait/Naga as a new race, plzthx.
in WvW, after i get killed, i usually transform into something else. sort of like “gah, his true form has been revealed!” so i’m going to be doing the krait next.
though usually the invaders just peace out lol.

I’ve just noticed it has a different idle animation if you use the draw weapon command, by the way.
Still want a command to make it do his funny ressurection animation without having to find someone dead.
Ah, so he does! You can also use the Flames of Kryta while transformed.

I would LOVE it if I could fight as a Krait. Really disappointed that the tonic is account bound though. You would think that since the TP is such a great gold sink for A-Net they’d be a little more enthused about us using it instead of having so many things account bound.
Sorrows Furnace
I think it’s probably account bound because of the Bloodstone Brick involved, the only other use for which is for making a Vision Crystal, which is also account bound. Or, to look at the bigger picture (including Ascended Weapons,) I suspect they’re using the Obsidian Refinement materials as a way to make items that are somewhat exclusive (can’t be bought for gold/cash,) but are more open-ended than, say, dungeon gear or Living Story rewards. (In this case, you can’t just buy bloodstone bricks, but you don’t have to farm a particular area for them, either.)
It’s a tricky balance. It would be convenient to be able to sell them, but this kind of content is also valuable for players who don’t like the game revolving around the trading post all the time, or to be completely accessible with gems-to-gold. Money might get a player most of the way in this, but not all the way, and I think that’s a fair barrier for at least some rewards, given how many are available for pure money.
