Would of been a lot nicer if it was say, pink with summery lilies, maybe a sarong, you know, BEACH and not STRIPPER.

Personal opinion on it. Don’t hate on an opinion, as I know a lot of people will not agree with that I think of it.

I think a few different options would be nice, and am guessing they’re waiting until summer to bring this stuff to the gem store.

Bikinis and shorts (various types) on hume/norn, leafkinis and sarongs on sylvari, and old-fashioned 1890’s swimwear on asurans (with stripes) all sound kind of cool.

Not really sure what to do about charr though. Maybe loud hawaiian shorts for the males and a cool 60’s-style one-piece for the ladies?

They’ve already created many models of swimwear for ALL the various races that can be seen on NPCs all over Southsun. So I see no reason why “race imbalance” should prevent them from putting these skins on the gem store.

I really hope it’s just a matter of content they haven’t added yet, and not that they won’t. Even though I feel that town clothes in their current incarnation are incredibly off-putting to own -storage hogs, no speed in town, need to remember to change, 1-character at a time. Even with ALL that, these would likely…

Im split on how I feel about this. On one hand I dont want to see l.a become bikini bottom, plus thinking of asuras in bikinis made me cringe. On the other hand there is my norn I like a lot.

The more items in the cash shop (which arnt behind a RNG system) the better in my opinion.
If you design models for it (and considering any player that enters the beach part automatically gets put in swimsuits anyway) then all your doing wasting resources and more revenue.

Most of us feminists don’t have a problem with there being swimwear available in games. We have a problem with armour sets that fully cover male characters yet look like swimwear on the female characters.

I would love to be able to replace my ugly yellow underwear with a nice looking bathing suit (several options would be nice!), since this game’s underwear serves as swimwear anyway.

But if that’s true that they had them and took them out… I can’t hold all of these wtfs. I stand by my initial assertion that Anet is more conservative than Rush Limbaugh at an NRA convention. Anet: we know you don’t want to be Tera, but this is just getting ridiculous. A simple swimsuit that we can’t even fight in is not going to open the gates of Hell.

I’m 100% certain the only reason this isn’t in yet is because they haven’t quite finished the other races’ models yet (or the thing below). Why would you assume otherwise?
The only concern I have with it is if it replaced the regular town clothes slot-wise. I’m not huge on RP or “immersion” (though the Quaggan backpacks bother me), but it’d be weird if I saw someone (or rather, hordes of female characters) standing around in the middle of a city in swimwear. And if it’d be underwater only that’d be dumb as well.

Nothing is stopping anybody from equipping nothing for their town clothes. Instant underwear swap if you chose to do so.

But anyways who cares if people run around in a bikini while out of combat. This game needs to lighten up.

Imagine if there was a pair for the charr. I would just swoon over them…and I wonder if we’ll get to see Rytlock Brimstone in swimwear before this event thing is done.

Is it possible that ANet is not releasing the swimwear to the gem store right now so that the NPCs have a unique look for a little while?

Maybe later once the characters have been introduced and no longer need to stand out from the crowd, and the populace is no longer being eaten by crazed wildlife, we can all get decked out in the latest summer-wear.

On topic, I don’t really see an issue with it. At least it will be better than people running around in their underwear. I’d rather see people in a bikini or swim trunks (which is meant to be seen in public), than people running around in their underwear (which is not meant to be seen in public).

It almost feels degrading and embarrassing to have the game strip you down to your underwear when you are on the beach or doing diving goggles. It’s rather humiliating to be forced to walk around in your undergarments in public. At least swimwear would be tolerable since it is meant to be seen in public.

Lol, funny that. I for one have never really drawn a huge distinction between the two. Since many swimwear types, especially some of the micro-kinis out there, are actually scantier than the majority of casual underwear. Both are similar in design and overall function, it merely comes down to our discretion as a society overall that makes those said distinctions valid or invalid. In short, individual and societal interpretation.

But women logic :shrug: I find that the only difference between bikini and underwear is the material and the design. You can only make bikinis smaller, but underwear has Exotic Level 80 designs.

The swimwear would be fantastic, but I could honestly settle for just having the ability to dye my undergarments different colors at this point. =/
