The 4 new special Exotic Mini's?

This is total and complete bull crap. If there really will be no other way to get these mini’s then Anet has officially lost my money on all future gem purchases to get Mini’s. I have spent probably thousands+ dollars on gems at this point and even have to contact Anet several times to purchase more because I keep hitting some monthly spending limit. I just cant fathom why they would do the same thing they did in GW1 and basically nerf mini collecting. This just sickens me to the core.
Aidan said he has lots of English ones left, which he can’t hand out in Germany, so i guess just go to PAX
I live in Florida. PAX is in Washington state. That is about 3,000 miles away. According to google maps, it would be 49 hours to drive there. If I fly, I’m going to be spending about $2,000 in plane tickets. Btw, I work 6 days a week.
So in order to get there I would either have to:
1. Drive there, which would take about 3 days, driving for 16.3 hours a day.
2. Fly there (about $500), but I would have to change planes in Denver. So it would be another couple hundred dollars to get the rest of the way to Seattle. Also note, that price is only for getting there. It would cost me another $1,000 or so to get back home.

I can afford to buy plane tickets to get there and back, but I’m not spending $2,000 for a Sparkles Mini. Being at the party would be fun and I am sure I would enjoy it, but I have already used my vacation time for this year, and I won’t be able to get enough time off to get there and back.
I could even drive there, (not really because I can’t get off work) but that’s about 6 days of pure driving. NO THANKS. I just got back from Virginia. 9 hours driving in a car is not fun, and I was so happy once I was finally back in Florida. I can’t imagine 49 hours. I think I would rather duct tape myself to a ceiling for an entire day than be stuck driving for 6 days.

I have been looking high and low on how to get the new special exotic mini’s (Mini Steamrider, Steam Hulk, Mechataur, and the account bound Mr. Sparkles) that were released with recent living story. So far I have had zero luck. I know they must be available in some way because they are appearing on the TP but nobody seems to know how or is just speculating. The two most recent things I heard is you need to combine the Twisted Mini’s in the Year 2 mini pack to make them however I have yet to see a single person confirm this or a recipe on what is needed. Also you supposedly can get them in the Mystic Forge randomly combining the mini’s like normal. I am assuming that is where the ones on the TP came from.
If anyone can confirm or provide the correct details on how to get these, i would be grateful. I collect the mini’s and want to make sure I have a chance to get them before the event ends. I don’t want to find out 2 days before it ends and then have no time to get them.
It would be even better if someone from Anet can confirm how to come by these or when they are available. I know it may sound weird but to me this is the most important thing I do in the game and have worked real hard to get them all. Any help would be great. Thanks

While reddit may be a good source for discussion, I wanted to post here because I know this is a place Anet looks at and and my hope is to get an official response on this. To make a account bound mini that very few people can get would just be plain wrong and I want someone from Anet to please explain their reasoning for this or explain what the future plans are for letting regular jo’s like me to get that mini. I hope this plea does not go unanswered like many others in this forum.

Mr. Sparkles is a giveaway from a Meet and Greet at Gamescon 2013 in Cologne, Germany going on this week. Probably made available at the next events as well.

I have yet to see anything to prove or disprove how these are obtained but so far this does seem to be the case. I wish someone who has one already could confirm this and maybe provide a pic or something to show how they got it or if Anet could just tell us what is going on. This is just sickening to me to go through everything I have to get all these mini’s but think that there is one I can’t ever get. My hope is that the mini was given as a prize at these meet and greet events or things like PAX but will also be offered in the gem store for what ever the cost. If someone from Anet could just please bring us into the light, we can all stop wondering and finally have some piece of mind, or if our efforts were for all for naught. Thanks.
I’m not a mini collector, but as a perfectionist gamer in my own way I sympathise completely with the folks who now have a gap in their collection. I think the fairest way would be to put Mr Sparkles up on the gem store for purchase; that way, people who were present at Gamescon or some other event can get it for free (which I think is fair enough, if people are dedicated enough to go to a con), and if other players want it, they still have the option of purchasing it for themselves. ANet gets more income this way too, so it’s win-win!

You all are severely overreacting. There is nothing wrong with having an incomplete set. There is no such thing as having a complete coin collection. It would cost millions of dollars and even if you did have the money, some coins are so rare you’ll probably never be able to find one or find a seller. But if you collect, then you should know good and well that for some coins, you’re just out of luck. Same with Mr. sparkles.
You can’t ask anet for what you’re demanding. What if anet releases more skill based minis or tournament minis like in gw1? Going to complain that you are entitled to pvp minis even though you don’t want to pvp?
Yes, I agree maybe its “unfair” how Mr. sparkles was distributed, but there is nothing wrong with having exclusive minis. It’s not unfair that some people have lambourghinis parked in their garage and you don’t.

Even people like me who had soo much trouble getting the Liadri mini (Being that an elementalist as my main) finally got it after lots of hard work and trying different things. This would be different if the mini was not account bound. How does me being skilled have anything to do with being required to Fly to Germany or go to a PAX convention to get the mini?
At least in GW1 there was a way to trade for them (how ever little chance there was to do so) but in this case, they are account bound so unless you do those two things, there is no way for us to get them(assuming that is what is needed to get them). That is the BIG difference between what we are talking about vs what you are talking about. Why make in game items that are collectable but only certain people can collect. That is why we are fuming.

So basically unless you went to germany, and decided to spend money in the gem store through more RNG gambling in the store, then decide to go onto a 2nd layer of RNG gambling in the mystic forge, your screwed, or dump loads of gold into the mystic gambling toilet….
This is not the same Anet anymore, im done with them.
Heavy RNG as well as Heavy Gambling. Whether with gold or RL cash….that is what GW2 is now. This game had mutated into some other MMO, this is not Guild Wars 2 which we were marketed and shown for all those years, this is some other MMO.
Keep gambling your money away and feeding this crap, nothing will change.

Your logic is flawed however. We can all buy lamboughinis, it might be a long term goal but it IS possible. Some of us have spent a year completing our collections. It was crazy hard, but it WAS possible! Making them inexclusive ruins nothing – There are still things you need to do to get them. If you couldn’t beat Liadri it’s not complete. Unless you have completed a lot of achievements it is incomplete. If you have not been able to grind the Molten dungeon or come up with 60G it is not complete. It has been possible to collect every mini and some of them are very rare by now. Look at the mini karka for example. It is not about having the resources to complete the collection, it’s about whether it is possible or not. And Anet has now released a mini you CAN’T get within the game.

Put Mr Sparkles in the store for 500 gems or more, DO IT! :’( I want him really bad especially since I started collecting miniatures. It is a good thing to reward those that come out, but does it have to be ingame things I wonder?

Well the max I would pay is 800 gems since they have been at least 400+ for them and that would be $10 or about 42g. Its a high price to pay to make sure I have a complete collection but I would pay.

No we cannot all eventually afford a lambourghini. I’m pretty sure there are people in 3rd world countries who are struggling to afford food, let alone a car. Those people will never make enough money in their whole life to afford a lambourghini.

I would feel cheated if liadri was sellable on the tp. If you can’t beat liadri then you don’t deserve the mini. And no, not everyone is skilled enough to beat liadri. Some people’s skill cap is flat out lower than hat required to beat liadri.

I actually would not object to that. :P For me, the value in having something lies mainly in the knowledge that I earned the item myself. Back in GW1, I got my Legendary Survivor title back when Nightfall came out. Then in Eye of the North, the Kilroy dungeon made getting the title extremely easy (if still somewhat grindy). Was I upset? Nope. I knew that I earned my achievement the “hard way”, and that was something nobody could ever take away from me. So what if there are lots of other Legendary Survivors running around now? I don’t care how they got the title; all that matters to me is how I got my title.
So no, if the Liadri mini became tradable, I would not be upset either. Heck, I might even sell mine since I’m not a mini collector and I imagine it would be worth a fair bit.

That.. Was not entirely the point I made.
Okay about the lambourghini. No, you may not actually muster up the money for that lambourghini. But it is possible. It’s a matter of the time and investment that you put into it. You say that’s more than some people earn in a lifetime. Well, for one I’m going to completely ignore Africa. In GuildWars there is no Africa, as we are all equal in terms of what we have available so that argument leads nowhere. But the “lifetime” thing again. I think it’s fair that some have a Lambourghini and some don’t. But don’t for once tell me that those who have one didn’t invest their time and money in getting one. Seeing we all bought the same game I see no reason why we shouldn’t all be able to obtain one with the time and money it requires. It would be our choice. Even if it took us a year of gaming it would be our choice.
I wanted to state that inexclusive does not mean easily obtainable, and per example Liadri, in many peoples opinion the hardest mini they have ever obtained. No reason to hand things out like it was pvp. We just want the kitten option to obtain the mini. I don’t care if Anet is kitten enough to release it for 2000 gems, or as a meta reward for slaying 1.000.000 rats. At least it would be possible to obtain and it would be our choice whether we want to invest the time and money into it. And most importantly it would be within the limits of the game.
Honestly, if they keep releasing in game stuff at events, we might as well all go geocaching.

All I know is this is turning out to be a joke. Now the codes are appearing on eBay. A Buy it now for $500 and bids starting at $50. Anet is basically forcing people to go to eBay and spend money there and for outrageous amounts and to those people selling the codes, you sicken me because you took the code knowing you just wanted to sell it from someone who really wants one and trying to make a huge profit off our desperation. It is just sickening. Congrats Anet, you have made people sink to levels I never though we would. The least you could do is reply to this and comment on the lows you are making us go to.
Well, they are not forcing us to do anything. But that does not make me any happier. Content should never be released like this. We might as well have gotten patch notes saying
Mini Mr. Sparkles is now obtainable through a brand new minigame called eBay.
…But oh wait we got no patch notes about Mr. Sparkles. Because the kitten thing doesn’t exist in the game!
