[BUG] Temple of the Forgotten God
I have the same problem right now, i’am playing on an alt and i remember i could choose to fight the guard at the Abaddon Shrine with my main, now it only says Leave, i tried to restart the instance several times.
If it’s not giving you an option to get an orb, there’s still an enemy in the area.
I had this same bug a few weeks back, but managed to get around it. While initially it seems like there are no more enemies in the room, there are a few that somehow got stuck in the wall. Certain attacks will be able to penetrate the wall, eventually killing all the bugged enemies.

Same thing here – my wife and I just finished this and had trouble with one of the kraits getting stuck in a wall.
I’m going to revive this old thread since it hasn’t been fixed. Tried the mission twice now and there appear to be enemies “in the walls”. There is no enemy visibly left, but I did kill two in the wall before. I can’t find the last (I literally jabbed every piece of wall once with my melee attack to check).
Like this it has become a ridiculous task, and impossible. Please look into it.
Same, no enemies left and no options on abbadon shrine.
Ditto the above. No enemies left, but the quest will not permit me to move on. I can click on the shrine, but I do not have the option to activate the switch. I am in the first room.
I had a similar bug i finished the first shrine and i activated the second orb but it didnt activate anything none of the doors opened although my quest changed
There’s no cutscene for the second orb. If it advanced the objective, it opened another door, but you’ll have to look for it.
It has been a while since I did it, but I have found that the times I did this instance, like Capas above mentioned, some enemies would clip through scenery and thus become unkillable.
Therefore I may take some time replying to you.
Was trying to complete story on an alt .There is no way to activate the 1st pilla whatsoever .No enemies stuck in walls.Without activating the 1st pilar you can’t get the essence to activate the orb and proceed to the next door.
Also my story its stuck at the very initial 2nd stage after “meet Sayeh al rhajid inside the catedral” .After i meet her the 2nd stage is “Explore the temple” and im stuck in here.Looking at youtube videos as soon as i kill la few npcs and proceed through the 1st door towards the 1st orb the 3rd stage should activate ,instead i can proceed inside the room ,kill all npcs inside there too and im still stuck on 2nd stage with nothing left to do.
I tried 5 times ,guest on another server and retried .Still stuck there.Anet please fix this.Now i can’t complete the story and it’s really frustrating.
Still horribly bugged. It’s a shame that this is not fixed till yet!
Yeah, the first part is still seriously bugged. There are 3 risen enemies on the ceiling rocks which i am unable to attack due to them being obstructed. I have tried for well over an hour and its till the same. Ive tried not skipping cutscenes, taking things slow, going around all of the center rock pillar and trying to attack them, but none of that works. Cant hit them at all, which mean that i cant finish up this story. Would really like for this to be fixed, especially for how it stops us from completing our story quests.
Did it a few days ago, had no problems whatsoever. Really weird that this happens.
Still bugged. 3rd pillar is unclickable, no enemies around. My escort Sayeh Al’rajhd also died behind the wall in the 2nd pillar fight, could not attack the enemy “obstructed”. After the pillar creature killed her she came out of the wall to attack me, after which I killed her, grabbed essence and moved on.
Went back to beginning and Sayeh reappeared. Went back to 3rd pillar room, still no enemies, pillar unclickable.
Nearly a year after release of this game and story lines are still bugged? Unbelievable.
Reset the instance, this time it bugged on first pillar. kitten this is annoying.
The second orb isn’t working for me. I remember clearly what happened on this part of the story but now on my alt, the door doesn’t open for me, please fix this!
Near the first orb and pillar I’ve got two mobs stuck in the ceiling. Even with bigger explosions for bombs and mob kit I cannot damage them… stuck.

so I’ve tried resetting this 15 times……….. I STILL CANT GET THE F R K N SHRINE TO WORK, I only get a leave option. I’ve enjoyed the main story line so far……….. however, the amount of time I’m wasting on this little bug is unacceptable. I want to play the game not beta test it. Thank god I quit on release, I can’t imagine how many different quests had issues like this…
Considering the thread has well over 6 months at this point, My best luck in trying to do this quest, is probably not even bothering with it and not having access to the end story line…
Why is there only 1 dev reply in this thread… i’m baffled.
Also, just confirmed the bugged mobs in walls. I managed to get a hit or two on some risen acolytes or something Risen on the top wall. I still can’t get the quest to work as it should. Also spotted a risen shark stuck in the middle pillar where the shrine of Abaddon is… this is possibly the worst work of model placing I’ve seen so far. Why are these walls clipping mobs? The fix should be simple, script the event with just 2 mobs, the immobile creature the clam or w/e it is and an extra one.
Great news everyone, after about 22 attempts, a couple hours of wasted time… I figured out an easier way to avoid mobs glitching. DO NOT USE PETS, i’m a necro and that didn’t help me, but pets were causing the mobs to get way beyond the walls which made it impossible to kill. Now, the mobs would be glitched in the walls still but at least reachable by my spear, I counted 3 bugged mobs in the first encounters before the shrine. Afterwards, the entire place seems to be prone to causing mobs to glitch in the walls. I don’t know if I simply got lucky with the run, but no pets did it for me.
still. the quest needs to be retuned, plenty of stuff to get fixed… and it doesn’t seem to be complicated to fix really.
Confirming that this is still bugged. Tried it five times today, and could not progress the mission. Hit every part of the wall, but as a guardian both of my underwater attacks are ranged and won’t pierce walls.
Im doing the quest and im stuck on the first shrine just has the option to leave and not attack. cant find anything that needs to be killed and can not progress…. please fix this.
I got stuck in this quest today as well. There’s an enemy inside the ceiling of the underwater room with the first Abaddon Shrine and I can’t damage this enemy (as guardian) with either ranged or melee attacks or summons. And it was hard already just to locate this enemy. Since the shrine can’t be used as long as there is still an enemy, the only thing I can do is leaving the quest which is quite frustrating. Please fix this quest so players won’t get stuck any longer.
Me and my partner have run into the same problem, clearing the first room only for the shrine to still be unusable. We had to redo it once or twice for it to actually work. This is added to the problems with baddies being thrown and trapped through walls when using knockbacks, and becoming unattackable at times.
Just did it a couple of hours ago. I didn’t have any problems. Well… Beyond what you would expect.
Still bugged, Wow, over a year, and still this hasn’t been fixed. Just wow. Will someone PLEASE fix this, stuck for about an hour now. Unattackable mobs stuck in the graphics.

This is really annoying. Do ArenaNet have plans for fixing this ever…?
