Forging the pact,
I just did this, and it worked fine for me, no problems whatsoever.
I did have a different problem with it: as a thief soloing it, it was a nightmare. I was in there for 3/4 of an hour, and it was annoying, tedious, and waaay drawn out. Too many mobs to fight, and the fight at the end was incredibly irritating and long.
Tried it twice now, still they refuse to follow me to the exit….will this be fixed soon? It’s frustrating to say the least.
Awesome. I just tried this three times and they are stuck for me as well. What grand old times. I guess I will explore and just try it out tomorrow. Hopefully it will be fixed by then.
Ohhhhh dears, there seams to be 100s of these coments and posts online all to do with this same thing, im stuck on it tried it 5 times now bored and tired of doing this, but cant progress as need todo this to carrie on with my story, i love the game but this has given me a slight hate for it now, hours and hours ive spent on this and still happens all the same, npc stay at the second camp bit and dont move yet trahearne follows me everwere, ive tried it were people say trahearne has to follow you and not die and so on… and still no works :@ :@ sort it out!!!!!!!!!
We haven’t found a way to get this to happen reliably, so it’s been very difficult to track down. We keep making minor improvements to try and fix the issue, but rest assured we’ll keep working on it until the problem appears to be fixed for good.
Thanks for answering finally; I understand you have a lot of bugs to deal with, but this is the personal story and a lot of people have been stuck for a long time because of this one.
I completed that quest a while ago, so my memory is a little hazy, but I remember a mob getting stuck and keeping me from progressing as my allies wouldn’t move until the undead were all killed. It took a little looking around, but after a few minutes I found and killed the bugger, which unleashed my allies.
In another quest, I took the “road less traveled,” and could not complete the quest: I had navigated up a hill and, in so doing, missed a few lines of dialogue, but no encounters. At the end of the quest, the trigger to complete an event failed to fire and I was stuck in Orr with an unbearably cheery Sylvari. If you’re deviating from the obvious path, this may be contributory and noting this with as much detail as possible may very likely help ANet to track it down.
Hopefully this can help at least one person get un-stuck.

It helped a little, I tried that last night (spent about 2-3 hours killing and looking around) The npc’s would start to move then they would re-warp back to their default location and not move again.

Sorry for double post but a noticeable update:
Got them to get to the fork in the cave which is about 30% further then before then they bug out and refuse to move at all. Still can not complete this portion of the story line though…

I just decided to give it a shot with a few different tactics and I just completed it. I went straight in there killing everything instead of sneaking around. I also just started chain pulling everything after I met up with the group. They will help you fight so I decided to just keep them fighting as we moved to the end. It could be working now but if not hopefully these tips might help.
Still bugged for me too.
Researches do not follow me whatever i do.
…so difficult fix this story-line?!
Same here , can’t the devs just complete the quest for us becuse i dont rly wanna waste the time doing it again and again until works .
The 9/17 update has a fix for one case we found where the NPCs could lose track of the player.
That’s great, gonna try tomorrow.
Finally got it to work myself (on 4th attempt). For the second group of researchers not following, the only thing I think I may have done different is made sure I killed all of the spawned grubs (including the one hiding behind the pillar) before attacking/killing the larger undead abysmal attacking the second group. The second group followed after this. Good luck to those still stuck.
So, we are going to have to wait till Monday evening for the potential patch? :o

I’m just happy to have a response! I’ll dilly-dally with some other zones, DEs and such until Monday and try it again then. Got all the way to 80 while this was bugged, so might as well wait a couple more days, rather than become more and more frustrated wasting time in this quest.
yea, i’m still stuck but nice to have an eta on the fix. the good news is we don’t need to do the personal story to progress in the game and levels
Pity, I should have seen this earlier. Lost 1 hour in this mission, trying to figure out what was wrong.
The first time I tried this the researchers wouldn’t follow me, the second time I managed to finish without any issues. Hopefully this gets resolved soon, glad to see Anet actually taking care of their game and looking for answers.
Confirmed. Still bugged. Looking forward to fix, thanks ANet, for all your support! :-)
I’ve had the same problem!
@ Icarium, In NO way did i suggest that i was not grateful or patient. I was asking a question so I know if I should bother continuing playing my Engineer or starting on one of my other characters until that patch came out if it was in fact coming out on Monday. -_- I don’t want to be level 80 playing a level 62 mission.

its not about being ungrateful or unpatient or whatever, its about stuff like this should REALLY REALLY work!! and if its not working, it should be top priority to fix.. like ASAP!
its not like getting to 80 in this game is all there is, its not like once you hit 80 you can start raiding etc. alot of this game is the actual way there, and if you’re getting contentblocked, its not that easy just to screw it and go back later on..
im having loads of fun just exploring, trying to get my 100% completion, but none of the zones ive been in lately have been even possible to complete, due to bugged events etc. its really frustrating trying to move on, and then you just end up in another zone with 98% complete aswell.. then when the MAIN STORY LINE QUEST, bugs aswell, it just downright sucks..
problems like this should be adressed and and worked on, fast.
After the researchers decided to camp out, I took a look around and saw an extra blue dot near a science outpost. I’d been out there earlier, and the Asura working there ran away. There does not seem to be anyone at that spot now, and I didn’t see a way to get underground, so I am wondering if that character ought not to have been in the instance, and is in some way stuck and holding up the quest.
I too am stuck in this area of the story… NPCs won’t follow , I left after trying different ways and killing horde after hordes of undead. I don’t know if this is of any help or not , but I went back in the same area as Explorable and found that there is an event there that seems to be bugged as well. Protect krewe leader Dobbs. Hope you all find a fix soon.
Thanks
I must be one of the very unlucky players…4 times I tryed this …:(
Yeah I tried this once and it bugged out than I came here to find out that it’s a known issue
Confirming that this is bugged: 2nd team wont follow me.
IIRC; if you let Trahearne die, then the entire quest halts (NPCs will only follow him, not you.) and you can’t go further. Easiest solution is to NOT let him die, but this is pretty difficult to achieve. Best solution is to get a friend to help you complete it, but yeah, it’s extremely frustrating.
I keep getting this, its a nightmare of a mission.
Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who are stuck.
I just did this mission today and everything went along fine. Was it recently fixed or was I just lucky?
It was actually my favourite mission so far, I just hope this artifact we found is actually going to be of use later on in the story. Not like that magic sword we might as well have never found.
OK now im angry sry , but u guys told there was a update at 17 that would fix one of the issues but this problem does still exist , i tryed this the second time , i cant progress the story line either so fix it now or i will command a refund .
and i made sure Trahearne didnt die
(edited by Zalmea.7320)
atleast please give us a update of this issue
It’s cool if a event is bugged since u can skip it .
But this blocks a part of the game , and every single moment ur not fixing this more people will get stucked .

As I said earlier, there’s an fix in the 9/17 update (which isn’t out yet) that should clear this up. It’s an issue that we haven’t been able to reproduce at all, though, so I can’t guarantee that all will be good once the update goes through, but I think this will fix the most common break.
Okey sounds good ! so when will the patch come CET ?
Okey sounds good ! so when will the patch come CET ?
9 o’clock September the 18th.
Ok i guess i just have to wait abit longer .
I came from the future…from Fort Trinity. Im a model T-800. The Asuras send me back to fixing this bug, cause my master stucked in time. If my mission is failed.the fortress never grow up. But if my mission is complete, all the races get the hopes back!
The future’s not set. There’s no fate but what we make for ourselves.
Sigh, just my luck to do the mission today without knowing it is bugged and not going to be fixed until tomorrow. I am sitting in it now and the second team won’t follow me and Trahearne. We’ve killed everything, but they prefer sitting in the cave to escaping. I had to use expendables to get this far, so will be harder the next time. Too bad there is no in game support or some sort of help for those that get stuck to compensate them for the wasted time.
patience is a virtue…. give the Dev team time to figure out what’s going on so they can give us a fix.
I guess I am one of the lucky ones since I saw this before starting.
Adena, keeping Trahearne alive doesn’t change anything unless you mean he can’t die at all through out the whole thing. He did die once here but that was before the first team.
The problem for me seems to be Kekt’s programming being broken. He is standing around giving me options to ask him about his team and what they were looking for.
I already talked to him in the previous step. I asked him about his team then use the ‘another question’ to ask about what they were doing there then picked the option that would move things forward.
Edit: did someone forget to give Trahearne a heal?

just did this quest.. seems to be working now
The story doesnt work for me.
Im at the gate, all mobs are dead, but there is nothing at the green star. No one come to blow up.
hmm.. i didnt do anything special this time around, just as every time before.. i killed absolutely every thing i saw, but that was about it.. trahearne died during the misson aswell so, hmm.. its really wierd

Still not fixed!
still bugged. It’s really gonna drive me mad when you killed such CRAZY amount of zombies and it’s bugged.
I tried this and failed 2 times. Then I was able to win it. Here is my ‘theory’. First, the plant dude didn’t die, I protected him (based on what others said, not sure if this is the issue). The first 2 times (when I failed) I went into the cave and killed everything before going up to the researchers. They would not follow me down to the blocked exit. The 3rd time, I stayed close to the right hand wall and fought only what I needed to to get to the researchers. After the dialogue, I then fought down to the blocked exit. It seemed that the reseachers would only follow me and T if we were fighting a mob, so I kept running ahead of the group to keep aggro going on the next mob. Then we got to the blocked exit and the story with plant guy started, and after that I was able to finish the quest. The cave is like a triangle, so when you go in only kill on the right hand side till you get to the researchers, then have their dialogue, then kill the stuff you didn’t (again on the right hand side, although a ‘different’ side of the triangle) and keep pulling mobs so that the researchers will keep following you. If I didn’t do this, they would run back to their spot and not move. This is how I was able to beat it. Seems like there is a wierd mechanic going on in the cave for Anet to fix.
