After choosing your order your race doesn’t matter and after doing claw island even your order doesn’t matter. Well, apart from one or two cameos.

This actually doesn’t bother me that much.

I always understood the personal stories as a reverse tree. All the branches converge into one spot as we’re all drawn to the same destiny. So yeah…at some point your race does not matter. Nor does your history, your order, or your affiliation. It’s just you and your destiny.

I’m okay with it. It’s “personal” in that the first leg of your journey is about your hero and his/her problems, and then it’s still “personal” in that you can do it alone (for the most part). I always knew the stories would converge anyway, and it makes sense from both the perspective of the story and also design/manpower constraints (if every choice had different branches all the way to 80 they never would have released the game and/or all of them would have been mediocre or outright bad, simply because that is a monumental amount of work).

Yeah, it makes sense, and was to be expected.
It would cost way too much resources to make15 or so story-lines that are completely unique from level 1 to 80. The final goal is to defeat Zhaitan, so it makes sense the storylines come together at some point.

Just who the hell do you think I am!?

Disclaimer: I haven’t finished the story yet, but I’m pretty far along.

It would be brilliant if in the final few quests, you’re engaged in the battle to defeat Zhaitan, because then every character declaring that they “defeated Zhaitan” would be true They all did it together, especially if there’s other “heros” and npc’s present, as I assume there will be.

It gives me hope that if they make an expansion for GW2 that there will be more personal story to follow that will pick up where your actual individual story left off.

Personally, i’m wondering about that sister of mine… Haven’t finished yet either, so please no spoilers, but i’m kinda bummed that the people that helped me out in the beginning have gone by the wayside so early in the game.

I went back to visit them and they were like “oh, hey! good to see you… so long!”

I personally hate how your Warband, Krewe, Gods, etc. don’t even matter. It’s like they all just disappear once you choose your Order. I understand this “intertwined fates” deal towards the end, but it would be nice to have SOME kind of uniqueness in the end, aside from “yay we all killed the bad guy”.

It was definitely really disappointing.

The characters that you meet earlier on don’t even stay in the story! They just disappear! Even if they were just by your side as another NPC that would be better than introducing them and then throwing them away.

I’m pretttty sure they are hanging out in your home zone.

Maybe one or two. I’ve hit cap, did the whole thing, and you know what’s in my home instance? One guy. Lord Faren, in his house (probably) sitting on the floor with his torso sticking through his sofa. He’s been there almost since I rolled the toon, and nothing else has changed.

edit; he has no real dialogue, either

The characters in our home instances really need some flavour dialogue and/or items to bestow upon us from time to time. It’s pretty disappointing that they spout out the generic NPC text after we’ve saved them.

The Salma District is brilliantly designed, so I do hope it gains further use in the future.

I went a couple of times and after 80 and other than 2 or 3 new NPCs it didn’t change in any noticeable way for me (human).

In any case, the worst thing about “my personal story” is the fact that it felt like I was playing Trahearne’s story instead. Definitely disappointed with that.

YES! THIS! I become a crusader, commander, second in command, etc… but never am i center stage! What happened to this being a PERSONAL story? Trahearne goes through some cool stuff, i want to do that! I get tired of sitting back watching NPCs chat each other up one side and down the other with no dialog for my own character for pages and pages…

You do become center stage. I choose the charr loyal soldier and in that storyline Rytlock was helping me recover my father’s treausre. And about the creature much worse that anything Zhaitain can create (Trahearne) he tags along all the time he doesn’t achieve anything without you doing it for you and yet he is the hero and leader. All I can say about that is Tyria is doomed.

haha! I know we are center stage early on, but lately it seems like things are just happening around me, not to me.

Just finished Tower Down last night. Another mission not directly related to my character. Just a tactical mission. Seriously, i don’t know why that one didn’t just get left out as a Dynamic Event.

The “hero” npcs are just laughable. When retaking Claw Island i saw my chosen group of npcs just standing around helpless while i fought tooth and toenail against the boss. i don’t know if he was just too big for them to target or what…

Actually your choices are actually increasing in the higher levels. You can much more often decide what you wanna do, than on the lower levers, which had one decision point per chapter.

Also what many people not realize is that the 7. chapter has three distinct routs you can choose, but the the choice which one of three you do, isn’t labled as a decide option, so probably many people will miss that.

The choices / order part of the personal story is a bit annoying for players that like to play together with others, because they have different missions so they can’t complete them at the same time. I’m happy that at least some parts of the game are common.

i like it when my friends pick different choices, because then we have the opportunity to see what the other outcome might have been.

Also, even if we do pick the same path, sometimes we just want to run the same PS over again, so we don’t all progress at the end sometimes.
