Hello fellow Tyrians:

I was watching the latest Wooden Potatoes’ video and I felt the negativity that is nothing but a reflection of the community’s feelings. He raised some reasonable concerns but this time I want to play devil’s advocate and give A.Net the benefit of the doubt.

To summarize the situation, the main problem is that with the living story content not staying around, it is not possible to make big enough plot turns, twists and developments to cater the lore. People fears that with this small updates, nothing interesting could ever happen.

Pseudo-quoting Wooden Potatoes, this is like a TV show that after the end of the episode it reboots with little or no consequence. We know from the official channel that there are at least 4 small work teams developing the living story. Each team is able to create specific content for 2 months or so and then they release it. Having small teams means having small releases. And the way things are now, what we’ve seen is what we’ll get.

And here is when I’d like to intervene. Nothing stops A.Net from adding teams to the cycle. Even just for one event. They could just add a bigger team to release a new permanent zone and/or dungeon, just to kill Jormag or whatever.

The living world obeys to the principle of attracting people constantly to the game. “If you weren’t there you’d lost the chance to see it”. But that doesn’t mean that they they have to make EVERY living world update to be non-permanent. Some updates can introduce some personal story progression with permanent content without breaking the business model.

The other way I see they can make plot progression is by making demi-permanent content like Adventure box. Maybe Jormag’s lair has a very harsh climate and you can only get there when in summer and stuff like that.

Well, this post has grown too lengthy. See you later, folks.

TL.DR: don’t be lazy, read the whole thing, it’s not that big.

The glory of my ancestors shall be restored.
