You NEED to figure out a way to stop this! The economy is being ruined, already, at this early point, by gold farmers and botters. Im not making a baseless claim. Allow me to try to explain as best I can.
Last night, I bought hundreds of unidentified dyes, at 3s40c, almost across the board (This was on the Northern Shiverpeaks server. I was trying to get abyss/white/etc. and I had scored big by getting a scythe skin.) I would Buy 30 at a time, right around 1 gold a transaction. I bought about 150 this way. Ocassionally I noticed that someone would put up 50 or so up at under 3s a piece, but seeing as I was only buying 30 at a time, there would be some left over, in the time it took me to open thirty dyes and look at them (maybe one minute), then return to the TP, the remainders would be gone and the price would be right back to 3s40c, with nothing in between. After about 150 this way, all the sudden the market got FLOODED with unidentified dyes at 3s, Im talking thousands(1600+to be precise)! Then 500 at 2s90c, then 400+ at 2s60c, and so on down the line until about 2s25c. Hundreds and thousands! Then I stopped buying for about 30 minutes, transfered dyes around to alts and went back to buy more. EVERYTHING UNDER 3s40c WAS GONE. Thousands of dyes, gone…were there that many people buying unidentified dye at 2am-4am server time? I doubt it!
I got 1 Abyss dye which I decided to sell to recoup some of my cost hoping to get another (I didnt) along with a chance at getting other dyes I wanted. I put it up for 6g20s, I matched the price of one other seller. It stayed up for seconds, literally, before it sold. Now, although I cant prove it, I believe it was imediately relisted. If you pull up a list of Abyss dye for sale, you will notice ONE for sale at (for example) 6g70s80c. Then ONE more for sale at 6g70s85c. Then ONE more for sale at 6g70s90c, and so on all them way up into the teens when I stopped looking. Now if the average person has an Abyss dye and they see one for sale at a certain price, does that person match it, or undercut it by 5 copper? With other items it gets matched, especially if there are only a few for sale. If all these people are ALWAYS undercutting the next, why does the price go up at a steady pace every day? For that to happen someone would originally have to put one up for say 10g, then someone would follow with 9g95s and so on until ALL OF THE SUDDEN they stop doing that until the price starts to rise. Why would the price jump from 3g at around launch to someone putting one up for 10g out of nowhere. This line of thinking doesnt make sense, and I know Im probably not explaining well. Another example of whats happening.
Why does ONE person need an order for 125 of ONE dye at waaaaayy less than the market is selling them unless they intended to inflate said market to make gold? Why does one person need 100 pieces of the same yellow armor? Why doesnt this happen with other things? Why is this price always one to five copper above vendor price (which means anyone filling this order actually loses money due to the listing cost…) Seems to me its a gold farmer manipulating the limit on what can be asked for in terms of price vs vendor price. Granted it could be a non gold seller, but what are the chances?
You NEED to start taking botting reports seriously (notice I said “You NEED to…” and not “I WANT you to…”?). If you dont the economy in GW2 is going to be shot. Im sorry this is such a long post, Im just trying to explain the situation as best I see it and at the same time justify my seeing it that way so as to not look like some raging hater with no proof. I understand I probably havent done the best job at that, but please, to all you people that will respond to this post,TRY and wrap your head around it and dont just troll/flame me. This effects YOU and YOUR GW2 experiences as well, not just mine. Im not doing this because something didnt go the way I wanted it to. This has happened in other MMOs and it ALWAYS ends with the economy being shot.
If you made it this far and actually read everything above, thank you for your time.
ANET! Your/Our game is being ruined by farmers/bots!
Hi,
As already explained by Mike, we are very commited to fighting botters. However, we are not going keep you updated about this situation every hour, or answer personally to each questions you are asking.
As soon as we will have more information to provide, we will keep you updated here. Thanks
