AOE visibility
bump.
I didn’t expect an Anet reply, but honestly i’m suprised i’m the only one that could appreciate this change…
whee necromancy! :P but yeah theres lots they could do to make all aoe circles easier to see, specially in certain area’s where the floor is below the surface which hits it entirely.
Solid colour circles would be one, 3d lines would be another (so circles form shin high glowy walls around the area)
Agreed, very good idea.
Have no issue with them doing this, but I have never had issues seeing the AoE marks. Yes the platforms are small but they are also close together. You just have to look at more than just yours. The are always centered on the players, so just keep an eye on the one in front of you, then you should be fine.
some of the platforms in that fractal are isolated enough that the ring can be perfectly around it without touching any others leaving no clue that its marked at all.

So then move closer to the edge, not saying they shouldn’t make them more noticeable, just saying there are ways to notice them with out a fix
when you got 5 people jumping around avoiding stuff while still trying to actually kill the kitten things you shouldn’t have to position yourself just to notice the attacks.
That said I don’t tend to have that much of an issue (I switch to anti-projectile moves and such) with that instance but there have been times when I’ve died because the AoE wasn’t clearly marked, the asura puzzle fractal is just an obvious example but theres other times when the floor is actually below the floor (go stand in front of the fractal portal in LA for an example of this) in those cases the markers are completely hidden
I agree, they can use some work and in some areas they are completely non visible, I personally have learn to ignore what others are doing ( as far as jumping around ), lets face it it isn’t hard to jump to a Chevron platform and stand on the edge. Also even with the anti projectile fields, at least to my knowledge, none of them reflect Ground targeted attacks, Minus maybe feedback.
the harpy lightning attacks are reflected by all of them as far as I know, seen guardian wall reflect em, there absorbed by smoke screen and dagger storm reflects them also so.
hmmm ok haven’t ran my guard in there yet at that level just my necro, I guess I never paid attention. Usually reflect spells don’t work against ground targeted spells
depends on the spell, any that still have a definite projectile still get reflected, harpies is one example another would be thieves clusterbomb.

ofc i’m not saying it’s a major issue, i learned myself to avoid those, personally i don’t look anymore at ground, i look at the enemy and the sky to see when they launch the aoe shot, then i look at the ground and avoid id. But beside asura fractal (that was the first example i thought), a more noticeble AOE warning should be really helpfull in chaotic situations. ^^

Oh and I agreed with that, I was just offering people advice as how to avoid the fractal one till they ( if they ) decided to change it.
