I would like to be able to change my char race on my lvl 80 warrior from Asura to Norn. I cant see him now playing in WvWvW when I am in a huge group of people fighting and it really sucks not knowing where I am playing mele.

I think you guys should add an option for lvl 80 char so it wont cause a problom with story quests to pay with gems to change thier char race. You could charge 800 gems per change. I would have no problom paying $10 to change my char race. I think it would be a good way for you guys to make some money selling gems. I think other people get tired of looking at the same old char all the time as well and would be willing to pay just to have a change.

Sounds like it would be an extreme pain to implement.

I doubt you’ll ever be able to change race, since so much depends on race, not just appearance. You would have to completely remake your appearance, and reset your personal story. Then you have the problem of personal story rewards that you’ve already. And what do you do with racial skills that you’ve unlocked? And racial armor?

I think it would be much better for you to just remember that your character is in the middle of the screen.

I know he is in the middle of the screen it just sucks not being able to see my char in big fights in WvWvW. Racial skills are almost useless on most races and so is the racial armor I dont see a problom with that. The story quest rewards a useless at lvl 80 aswell people just buy the guild backpack better stats.

The problems listed are not insurmountable.

Racial skills — translate to the new race, or refund the skill points. Not all racial skills will translate one-to-one, of course (humans have an extra heal, for instance, that other races may not). So I think the skill point refund is the better option here, particularly given that the skill points are not limited in the game.

Personal story — consider the personal story complete to the same point, with random decisions made during the progress. Have a human that’s completed up to level 10 of the personal story? Race change would make it so that the new race’s personal story was also complete to 10. Items can be easily translated, since many of them are the same (and there are always three choices, so use the same for the new race as well).

The only sticky wickets I see with personal story is something that’s mid-progression. Say completing to level 6 and race changing, you’d start the new race’s story half way through. Confused player? Oh well, that’s what you get for story progression. And the Orders. I’d recommend keeping that the same no matter which race, so you can’t race change to switch Orders (which is, as far as I know, not currently possible in game).

Racial armor can be translated. Have Asura tier 1 cultural, and making that Asura into a Norn? Poof, that armor piece becomes Norn tier 1 cultural.

Would it all be a snap to implement? No. But possible.

In regards to the personal story, reset it. If they don’t feel like programming another marker to note when the player should begin receiving story rewards again, then they just need to very clearly warn that the story will be reset and that all story rewards will be disabled.

Dont think they will ever implement that.

It is possible , but so is winning the lottery.

If they do add this , i would use it for sure.

I would have no problom starting from the begining on my story if I could change my char race. I have still have never even done one quest for it anyways so it wouldn’t be any change for me. If anything it would allow people who like pve to play threw all race story lines on one char if they wanted to by changing there race.
