God, just look at this …

I’ve see today some new upcoming MMOs (Echo of Souls, EIN (Epicus Incognitus), BLESS and ArcheAge.. where I must really say, when I saw just their trailers or character creations, combat systems ect. where I ask myself, is GW2 already so exremely outlive within 1 year, that new games and their simple character creation modes can look alot better having more epic looking beginner charatcers, than what we have here with a max level character, where we even have to grind with our rangers for somethign as mandatory in character class design still, like quivers, or even have to pay reall money for them, if we want to have one, that lloks a bit bett,er, than just the generic boring 0815-quiver for that you have to grind, where you get in this game awesome different looking quivers asan archer just from the start on…

Is having no monthly subscription fee and making a game that tries to cater also players with low end pcs making really such an extreme influence on graphic quality and having more detailed good looking stuff, like quivers.

Heck, even the weapons show there just look in many cased alot better (cause of havign just more details) and this with these kind of korean games, which tend to end up quickly becomign also free to play games with a kind of shop system to make money..

I don’t know, maybe its just also part of my personal taste, that lets me think that characters from those games just look more detailed and epic, because I like animes, however, the shown character creation , even when beign from a korean upcomign game, doesn’t look extreme animish (there exist other games, that give you a much stronger impression of that like blades & soul)…

However, to come to the point xD, wh y I’m postign this, not only because i like the character style and would wish for GW2 have similar high detailed character designs that look with simple clothes already epic with a big amount of different hair styles, face styles, and other options (tatoos) I’m posting this thread to take it into consideration, if Anet will ever bring up a ranger redesign to think also about giving them please some kind of DEFAULT quiver.

Its really saddening me to see, how quickly new games make so many things alot better, than GW2 , when I think about it, that GW2 could theroretically have all of this too, if GW2 wouldn#t have been basically released too early in my opinion (due to NCSOFT – where we are back at korea again xD)

People who pay real money for their ascended quivers… I don’t even know why they play the game lol. I like to have fun while getting gold

Before I clicked that video, I was expecting some cutting-edge footage with high-res textures, high poly-counts, lots of gratuitous bump and specularity mapping. What I saw was…underwhelming. The textures might be a little higher res, but the poly count seems about the same or worse for a lot of it. The lighting effects are okay, but nothing spectacular.

I mean, I’m not going to argue that GW2 was “best in show” graphics even at launch, since it’s always had a “let’s keep lesser systems in mind” approach, but I’m just not particularly impressed by what I’m seeing in this video, even if I set aside my tastes regarding the art style. :/

As for Rangers getting quivers integrated into their core look, go ask the Engineers how much they love their hobo packs, hiding their back items and clipping with things.

The video was also just more about showing better, what I meant for about the quivers, because the video can show it simply bette, than I’m able to describe in english, what I’d like to see in GW2… pictures are just easier to understand you now ^^.

You see in the video, that the quiver is located at the HIPS and not at the back
Also the difference is, therei n the video that shows this other game, quivers are for rangers/archers just an integrated part of the clas.
They just simply start DIRECTLY with one.

In GW2 you have to basically grind your butt off first to be able to get your hands on a silyl quiver for your character and the thing that you get just looks total boring and unimpressive in regard of its design and anet just uses this out by putting a few months later a quiver skin from Rox into their shop.
Engineers are an issue for themself with their backpacks. Quivers could have an easy solution as you can see in the video by adding more options of where you want to carry them, either on your back or at your hips.

When you expected super high res footage, you better go look at upcoming games like BLESS. In regards of Art/Character/Weapon Design Style I personally find what I see in this video alot more impressive, than what GW2 delivered so far, even knowing the fact about GW2 beign a game, that tryies to work for as many peoples low end pcs as possible, but that game in the video also is not a game for super high end pcs, its graphics isn’t superior to GW2, but instead on a similar level (a bit more inferior still), however, in the Character Creation, those shown Armor Designs do look impressive and better than most of GW2’s current medium armors, due to being alot more detailed.

Its no surprise, that those korean MMOs always do have this more or less strong “anime design touch”, while western style games tend to look more “realistic” and lesser extra ordinary/heroic/spectacular… but thats what I miss a bit for GW2 as its still a fantasy mmo and thats also somethign that you can see a difference in when it comes to armor design.

Id like to see that our characters get to look more extra ordinary and heroic in future.
For me would change the point of rangers having integrated quivers that are part of their armor design be the first step into the right direction.
Quivers are simply a mandatory part of the class itself, they belong to every charatcer, that uses a bow.
Means, whenever a player equips a character with a Short or Long Bow, the equipping of that weapon should lead automatically to a Quiver appaeringat a player chosen location on the character model, either on back or at hips like shown in the video at the hips, which looks for me personally relly cool there.
Quivers simply shouldn’t count as back items that have to be equipped, they should be just a visual addition when using any kind of bow weapon that comes with them together and the looks of them should be then simply SKINS which can be attached to the used bow weapon that work like a visual upgrade item (could work for arrows too to make your arrow shots look different)
