Give us the ability to form raids
Commander is meh anyway. It shouldn’t be named commander at all, it should be “moving map icon” or “20-man party book”
I agree, although I doubt we’ll ever be getting this, seeing as they want us to cough up 100 gold just for a very simplistic implementation of a raid.
At the very least, let us see the health bars of nearby allies like we can see enemy healthbars. The only way I can see the health of someone not in my party is by mousing over that individual player. As a guardian, this makes it hard (impossible) to get the best use out of AOE healing.

Ya this is dumb, if I wana form a raid I should not have a fee to do so. You are hampering guilds doing things together unless x,y,z member is online. Refund the fee for commander and let anyone form raids pls.

No, don’t refund. Make everyone available to form big party and make Commander USEFULL. Add more features related to commanding.

Now that would be a good idea, wouldn’t mind making the commander a upgrade. I just don’t want to dish out 100g for the ability to just form a raid.
Now that would be a good idea and something worth purchasing.
It’s silly that you pay 100g for being mobile POI on map. It doesn’t have any sense and have nothing even remotely to do with commanding or being a commander. Also not everyone who purchased commander should be one. There should be hierarchy and vote system so people would pick commanders out of many and they would pick their leader (master commander?). Also to make it have sense there should be capped number of commanders on map. Commander should be able to form squads that people can join and he should be able to give orders and draw on the map for every squad separately as well as one order or drawing for everyone. He should be able to see every squad member on the map as well as have diffrent color for them. Squads should work separately from party feature. Also there should be vote system to dismiss bad commander, only if there’s another free commander available on the map. Also people SHOULD be forced to get into squad. If there’s not enough commanders on the map then squadcap per commander should increase or if there’s only one commander then he should command them all. People should be able to change squads and commander should be able to set description for every squad, i.e.: “Squad Omega takes camps behind enemy lines”, “Squad Delta is scouting the map”, etc. so everyone can fit in their role. It would greately improve WvW organisation including random players. Sure it is all possible to get organised WvW filling it with alliance but that’s not the point and you don’t need commander book for that at all.
That would be commanding. Moving POI isn’t commanding it’s just where zerg of random people goes. Anyone remeber Battlefield 2 commander? Now tripple that and bring it into WvW.
By the way things I mention were included in similar way into MAG (PS3 FPS game with huge maps and hierarhy system that worked out pretty well with all those random players)

I agree the commander should be a seperate issue that could be added maybe even a guild purchase ability. The main issue that needs to be resolved first is simply giving anyone the ability to form a raid. That is just something that is common doctrine in all MMOs and is a must imo for gw2.
For PVE, I think when a group of people are in the same DE, as upon entering the orange ring the system should prompt a message asking whether the player would like to join the party. So then, you get a large group of people (this I’m reffering to a new party system for DEs mostly) being able to know where the group is.
Like if I really like this group but I want to go buy stuff, I can know where everyone’s headed to instead of going and then having to walk miles again to find new groups.
EDIT: The size limit of the party should range anywhere from 30-40 people, and the map only shows one dot which locates the “majority” of players in this group(two dots if the groups are evenly divided). EX) If 40 people were in this group, and later on 20 of the 40 scattered – you’d still be able to find the location of ‘the group’ (the remaining 20 people). And the minimum # of players required to be counted still as group is 5 (anywhere above four is a “raid group”, below it is a private party group). Again, it only tells you where the group is at, but not what’s happening at that location (given choice to go back or go somewhere else).

Warhammer online had a similar system for open groups in pve events. You would simply walk near the event and if there were other players there it would join you together. If you formed an op you could also make it an open party so anyone in the zone could see you on the party finder and join you. This was a great system to make doing difficult pve events stream lined and easy.
+1 for this,
The ablility to form Large Raids should be in the game by default, every other modern MMO has this ability in it, at no additional cost. This was a huge step backwards by ANET to not put this in the game for free from the moment you create your character.
