WvW – Structure Upgrade Re-Work idea!
WvW – Art of War Guild Buffs & Keep Claiming Re-Work idea!
(edited by Luna.9640)
I’ve noticed that there is increase demand of gvg action at wvw currently but for large servers this may be a trouble in face of creating queue on maps where the guilds want to do the Guild vs Guild and spoil the fun for other players who want to do actual WvW creating unnecessary queue times.
I think its time Anet to step up and create a team that will work on Guild vs Guild Arenas with ladders/rewards and all the stuff required for a healthy and competitive Guild vs Guild action. (Its Guild Wars 2 right?)
So since living story teams like to drop stuff like latest Survival island type of action i think next one could contain a Guild vs Guild Arena (just to test it as early beta).
There is no need of creating a whole new map as well since Urban Battleground fractal map is more than capable to be used for any Guild vs Guild fight.
It have open fields as well as town with allies and buildings for more skirmish type of action.
I think Anet can give it a shot and let Guilds evaluate it.
I’m adding a map of Urban battleground fractal with both team’s staring area colored green and red as well as areas marked with blue as areas for fight.Orange marker mark gates that may or may not be removed or reworked as something else.
On top of all those Anet can add the spectator mode used in sPvP so everyone including rest of guild members who don’t participate in the GvG can watch the action and support their guilds.

This is a wonderful idea. Remove the mobs, polish it up a little bit to make sure there aren’t any bugs and bam. You’ve got yourself a GvG map.
oh my god that’s depressing
it’s one thing to not have gvg like in gw1 here, but it’s really sad to see the original meaning turned into “25v25 mass chaos”

Have to agree. As someone who adored GW1 GvG, the guild wars 2 version is a blobby unstructured mess. Not the tense highly structured form of it’s predecessor. Unfortunately Guild Wars 2 has attracted the mass MMO market that has no idea of proper clinical and clean PvP which Guild Wars is.

not necessarily…
i think the problem is that there is no real battleground for guilds at the moment.
If there was a map like the one that the op posted but with specific points that have to be protected or flags/resources for upgrades that have to be carryed to the homebase (or other goals) then this could get very interesting and not just zerg vs zerg.
I imagine it a little bit like World v World but on a much smaller scale, more like Base v Base
On a side note: i think thats similar to what the devs originally imagined wvw to be like

This is an awesome idea, thumbs up! So easy to implement rly.
OP, you misunderstand the concept of this forum. You have to sell your idea to ArenaNet. A well-conceptualized, insanely often requested idea with a strong tradition in the franchise alone won’t do.
Instead you should have put forward some suggestions how Anet could possibly exploit a GvG-like format to sell the most fluffy Gemstore toys, offer the most legally unregulated gambling, and attract the most casual players who only ever log in to do minigames and mindlessly grind achievements every two weeks.
Have no idea how to marry those two things? Well, then that probably means we will never get GvG and you should go away with your unwarranted elitism. This is strictly Casual City, don’t turn this into WoW clone #39423.

This.
I rather see a more developed sPvP with interesting game modes than wasting resources on making a map for zergfesting.

I do support the idea that everyone should have its own place to have fun in games so i try to adapt to new things like “blobish fights” Guild Wars 2 offers.
And i think that GvG Arenas could be part of sPvP as a separate game mode within sPvP.
I think this will be better and save time since sPvP have the ladders and spectator mode and the necessary skill balances monitored.
The “zergfest fights” are all gw2 can offer in face of GvG for now so i’ll rather work on improving them instead of doing nothing and talking about the past
I think we all agree, us, gvg players of gw1 are totally freaking out when ppl talk about their “GvG” in Gw2, and actually they look pretty serious about this.
Give them the thrill of playing a real gvg game and they will probably understand they are wrong about their blob fighting.

Played 10 "real gvg games" and got boring after the second one, I rather play for points.
For comparison I have ~4000 hours of GvG/Tombs in Guild Wars, would have 6000 by now if Anet hadn’t abandon the game before GW2 release.

This would be great, make it like 50 plus 50 maps and the guilds get to choose a faction to fight for such as Durmond Priory, Order of Whispers, or the Vigil.
Then put our guild housing as such with symmetrical theme.
bump for relevance
Fully support this suggestion!
Support up to 30 players, WvW build diversity, unranked, use a random piece of PVE land that would be ideal or even an existing sPVP map (I’m sure Guilds will find a way around it).
Charge gems for tourneys/the custom arena itself etc.
I support the idea of GvG as well! Heck, it would be so great to implement! They already have destructive walls implemented, they could just create different maps for GvG with two ’’keeps’’ with destructive walls. And to have access to it your Guild would have to ’’buy’’ it with Influence in the Architecture category, thus ’’building’’ a Hall!
That would work so well, and would be so fun! So, yeah, supporting the GvG concent 100%!
I support this.
People bringing up GW1 GvG again, makes absolutely no sense at all. Well done.
The GvG you had in GW1 is now sPvP basically, number wise.
Here GvG has evolved to what it is atm and theres a big demand for it, clearly.
Calling 15v15 or 20v20 zergfesting and button smashing shows you clearly have no experience and you should not waste your time and our time commenting. If I dont know anything about a certain subject then I wont get involved, simple as that and it will save me from looking silly, some people here should do the same tbh.

Supportinated!
Tbh the only way I can see a GvG arena being implemented is through the sPvP format in order to provide satisfactory PvP balancing, such as it is. At which point everyone would complain that they want to use their WvW gear. And as such would go back to bashing their heads in the field of WvW.
" And as such would go back to bashing their heads in the field of WvW."
+1

Are we done with the pointless GW1 comments now? Good. Time for a constructive discussion.
IMO simply adding the option to have 20 people per team and using PvE gear+WvW balance would be enough for now. Not that hard to do.
Also, please, only deathmatch. No more conquest. I think people already have enough of that in sPvP and WvW. We don’t want more respawn spam rush modes(or at least I don’t but I’m sure that there’s more people that share my opinion). Making it round-based makes more sense.

While I agree, I’d like to point out that round based gameplay will force people into positions where there will be something like two or four people fighting left and everybody has to wait while they finish their duel. Not exactly exciting and fast paced.
Please give guilds something to do.
Here is another cool idea related to this. I think it would revigorate GW2: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Guild-Wars-2-suggestion-real-Guild-Wars What do you think?
I’d be very grateful for 1 map, a giant coliseum, no obstacles no trees, no warthogs, no skill point, no windmill. Just a big round piece of flat terrain and 2 guilds. No cap points, because i’d be very disappointed if they upgraded the player limit in sPvP.
Saying that I’d be happy if they put an invisible circle around the area we do it now that removes the borderland world buff when u enter it, a quick fix solution while they are “discussing” what they are going to be doing about GvG.
