These are my ideas for revamping content in dead-lower-level areas in order to get’em much more lively

1-hidden-chest-related-veterans AND event-veterans have a 20% rare drop rate and a higher chance on rare materials

2-event-veterans will scale their hp to higher level when there’s over 5-10-15 ppl in the area

3-event-veterans hit much harder when there’s over 5-10-15 ppl in the area

4-champions have a 70% rare drop rate and a 30% exotic drop rate

5-some champions and final dungeon bosses have new attack patterns/forms when low health or some conditions are met (like burn on wooden/ice bosses and such, either particular weapons are used, like siege weapons)

6-some of these special champions or final dungeon bosses will have increased exotic drop rate when those special conditions are met, these “conditions” are meant to make the boss “mad” by hitting their weak-spot (thus dealing more damage too), it’ll be riskier but would give greater rewards.

7-hidden chests in secret areas have a 100% rare drop, and scout NPCs are the only way to see’em on map (else people would just make guides around the net)

8-scouts are invulnerable (dunno if this is already effective, couldn’t notice)

9-world bosses, champions and hidden chests (or, especially where missing the chest, the accomplishment would give the reward), drop unique skins only droppable by them, such items would often be style-related to the champion/chest area design, a good idea to boost this would be makin a new art contest, as Anet does from time to time.

10-experience-amount and drop’s level scale on character’s level, which means you can drop cool stuff even in lower areas so people actually go there and play with lower levels, without worryin about not satisfyin rewards

11-dungeons’ chests have 100% ascended materials drop rate and 50/60% ascended gear drop rate.

12-dungeons’ story mode rewards have 70% rare and 30% exotic drop rate AND actually drop a big quantity of their dungeon-NPC-vendor-related-stuff

13-some areas will be reworked in order to prevent boss camping (mobs, environment objects and such) AND to boost world bosses’ fights fun, adding siege weapons, special platforms and such, with some work on champions’ moves too.

Have the daily achievement have a zone focus. For example:

1. Kill 60 foes in <place zone here>
2. Kill 15 different types of foes in <place same zone here>
etc.

Part of me thinks that someone in ANet was thinking “hey, wanna see something funny? Watch this…”

you should think it as this:

-why would I play a lower level area instead of a better-rewarding and often funnier dungeon?

Your idea isn’t bad as it is, I think we should have multiple daily achievements not just one, so we could focus on pvp OR wvw OR pve and such things

I’d lower numbers on your idea either make it a weekly achievement, it’d work like some events used to on GW1, this way it’d bring more people in an area every week working like a world event.

The lower level zones is where people reside! I hardly ever encounter players in zones between 30 to 80! From 1-29, LOTS OF PEOPLE EVERYWHERE! YAY!

How about this make skillpoint that you keep gaining after 80 actually worth something. Be it fashion or whatever make it more useful then just mystic forge junk. This will give reason for more people to level up. Another idea have drops (like xp) in all zone scale to your level. So no more having to grind orr.

The lower level areas are much better designed, seeing them empty is a waste.

Completely agree — was more of a brain-food idea and less of an actual implementation description.

People do dailies/monthlies (although i’m not sure why as karma seems mostly a waste imho — the game forces me to grind dungeons to get soldier stat’d gear ). So it may be a mechanism to “encourage” participation in lower level zones. I think it’s really a work around to a more systemic problem in the game which is how to engage players to do stuff they find fun… rather than force them into meaningless activity.

yeah but in this game there aren’t missions/quests so It’s kinda hard to implement those here, atm the only effective ones are world-events like the karka we’ve just had, even if you give a couple tips to zaishen NPCs in order to direct people attention towards those areas… is it worth it? I never really went for zaishen missions in the past ‘coz the only reason behind’em was for elite’s sake completition (titles), I considered’em kinda grindy, especially if you got alts.

Your alternative isn’t bad, but not enough and would require too much traveling anyway->silvers->wasting time for those that have yet to reach the possibly mentioned areas->this would hurt people that join the game in the future after possible new patches/campaigns.

In this way, a weekly event as described previously might work better, but I feel it’s still not enough

If it´s a thing to revitalize a map I don´t see any problem in needing a level to certain áreas were the Zaishen send you. Because to revitalize a area NO ONE will create a new char just for this. NO ONE will use a weak alt because will be faster to use their leveled char. So doing a chain of events being in a party to complete as a Zaishen mission (or even reativate some hearts mission) will be for leveled players. If someone is not leveled enough it will just be like GW1 again.

Even a weekly event will never be for everyone, if the event will be in Fields of Ruin a level 20 won´t go or all those events will ever be in 1-15 level áreas and it will not revitalize a lot of maps. And a FULL world event will be just people going for the easiest or the better reward. So the rest of the maps will stay empty.

A Zaishen will be better because it can rotate daily the map, even can have more maps for some brackets, people choose their mission and get a reward. And if it´s some grinding, kitten, there´s no MMO in the world that don´t have even a little grind. And it will note even be required for nothing. Just something more for a player to do and get a reward.

But the idea of an underflow server will be better than everything discussing here and for me that´s the idea that everyone must put they efforts on.

Me and my friends were talking about this a couple days ago, and we tossed about the idea of daily hearts. Like where each lower level zone had one heart that reset in a day, and was maybe for example blue or something so you could tell, and as part of your daily or something you had to complete any 3 of them, or make all the group events scale down to a couple people or even a lone person. You know,even Orr is having this problem (on our server) because everyone is doing Fractals. I love the Fractals dungeon, but it has divided the player-base…. A lot.but that’s for a different topic I suppose.

why would you do that particular mission instead of just goin into a fotm run? if it’s for the loot?

It’s not a different topic, actually, if you are for the loot you go there, that is, most people want to make money, new armor sets and such, and the only effective way to do so is fotm or mindless material/event farm, provided you find the group.

The question is: would you rather go exploring around, doin some events, probably dyin all alone in a map where there’s no1 to help you, wasting silvers on rez and teleports to get in and out of the map OR just go fotm for a steady income of rares and maybe ascended gear?

Most people answered for the steady incomes. We want to change it so everything rewards accordingly to the effort you put in it plus spice it up with some new cool ideas to improve the general experience.

And why I will go to a low level map that don´t give me nothing but some low level whites and eventually a high level WHITE…? There are people that don´t have the time or requirements to do fotm run (I even can´t do that because the DC kitten and problably can´t do in a long time). And if you can have some exp, maybe a SP, karma and some silver without the kitten of a dungeon, well, I´m all for it .

And not everyone is a gold farmer, some people like to made different things, you can see by some posts. And be rewarded for doing that is better.

This game rewards us for everything we do well. Why not revitalize the maps?

Maybe add a weekly achievement, pick 5 lower level zones at random and have people complete 5 events in each of those 5 zones for a weekly reward (or something similar).

The best solution would be something that has been talked about a few times before about “underflow” servers or a mega server so to speak. I’d vote for a mega server big time over incentives to keep leveling zones balanced toward where people choose to level through providing larger population to all zones.

no matter what server you are, you have to agree exploring zones don’t reward as much as dungeons do, on top of it they require silvers in order to be travelled.

anyway back on topic, events are kinda hard to hunt but we could round those ideas a bit, imo the most effective way to enable those zaishen quests would be this:

get a new section of daily/weekly achievements called “zaishen hunt” where your purpose is to fight specific champions or complete a certain number of events bound to specific areas OR specific world bosses.

there would be 9 dailies in order to let every1 experience the dailies as they’d be divided in tiers

3 for lvl 20-40 areas
3 for lvl 40-60 areas
3 for lvl 60-80 areas

(up to lvl 20 there’s plenty of content for the many races zones so I won’t consider that, also they always have some kind of lowbie population)

Every day they cycle to 9 new ones so that at the end of the month they reset,
3 per lvl range means they could be in the same map or various maps for that specific level range, sometimes they may also be dungeon related, they’d still fall under an area-lvl range so I think it’s ok.

They’d reward 10s each (in order to make up for the traveling issues)

Also there’d be a reward-bar for the overall completition of those dailies which gives rewards every 3 dailies accomplished, the more the dailies completed the better the rewards.

Imo this would lead to people forming event farming groups, easier to go for the events ok but it might get a lil crowded at times, maybe.

Would smtg like this work?

I understand what you are talking about but I believe it’s better to get more population in all zones rather than focused on certain zones for particular areas in those zones per say. A mega server has the potential to keep zones populated throughout rather than dailies/weeklies/monthlies and not focusing a huge crowd of people in particular areas. Population balance that is spread wide creates more dynamic grouping opportunities which for leveling would be really great which mega servers can offer.

I completely agree on what you are saying but they still haven’t given a response on that matter so I’m trying to come up with some ideas to improve the general thingie.

However you’ll agree that exploring and doing events gives very low reward compared to other methods, maybe roaming is as productive but very boring, basically people do that for farming purposes, which is wrong.

People usually want the best rewards for their time and a mega server coupled with something similar to Zaishen Missions as evolverzilla and you mentioned could help. More populated zones and more content for max level would be good.

Generally speaking about rewards you can add incentive to each unique event you do each day grants you more karma and coin a bit above normal compared to your level. This could alleviate the feeling of grinding by getting people to not just grind the same 2 or 3 events back to back each day. That would add more incentive to exploration even at 80 making all content of any level worthwhile but can also have a negative impact on the economy depending on how it’s balanced, etc..

You are right exept I’d care more about players than money, consider this also:
I mentioned in my first post the exotics’ drops increase, they won’t affect the market that much, ’coz they are random anyway, weapons, armors and such were meant to be salvageable anyway, so a lil lower cost would fix the difference from exotics and ectos.

They’d drop more often, make players happier and grant a constant income of money that’s way more reliable than goin off somewhere for the daily only to get a couple whites and blues…

Oh and they’d also let us finally complete our exotics armor sets (‘coz you want to have multiple of’em for each build and you’r goin to spend a lot on that, especially if you want to WvW).
