Currently, Engineers get rather shafted with the legendary system, seeing as how they are prone to using kits, which overwrites the legendary.

What I propose is one of the following:

1) Make legendary rifles + MH pistols effect kits.

2) Add in Legendary Kit Sets, which change the appearance and particles of all of your kits to a similar theme.

3) Add in individual Legendary Kits which are extremely cheap compared to standard legendaries, don’t require map completion, and don’t have to match other legendary kits.

Any of these would help the Engis out. I see #2 as the most plausible though, as it could be done in any number of ways – hell, it could even be a legendary backpiece that changes your kits.

I think one and three are somewhat bland to be honest, but I’d kill for two. Definitely signed on that one. I only recently came to realize that as an engineer I spend 90% of my time swapping back and forth between the flamethrower and elixir gun, and a legendary would be meaningless to me. With no self-imposed quest for a legendary, and uninterested in either PvP or an “endless” dungeon (read; ultra boring repeatable grind) I basically don’t have any kind of endgame.

I was one of the people arguing against those who made such claims in the past, but now I am starting to feel it too. Without a desire to go for a legendary, and disliking PvP, there is really nothing left for me to do between the big monthly updates.

Probably either a legendary weapon, a legendary backpiece exclusive to Engineers, or an entirely new slot for Engineers.

That is actually a fantastic idea. We’ve already seen that legendary weapons will sometimes alter the look of certain skills used while they are equipped. So following that logic instead of having to create new legendary weapons, let alone a new category of legendary specific to engineers, they could just add kit effects to the existing ones.

Well, one question that would need to be addressed if legendary weapons affected the kit is, what about P/P and P/S? Making the Rifle alter it wouldn’t be too hard, but with P/P and P/S you might only have 1 of them be legendary, and even if not they’re still different weapons with different effects, so how would it alter the kit accordingly?

You’ve got 15 other utility skills, and two other healing skills to chose from if you don’t like how kits look. Changing the animation of a small portion of your utility and healing skills to match your weapon is just a lot of work. Besides, if you get kits to match your legendary weapons, what’s to stop the elementalists from asking for legendaries that change to match their attunement, or mesmers to get phantasms that match their legendary, or rangers to ask for pet utility skills to get special effects because they’ve got a legendary?

Firstly, none of those are particularly bad ideas, secondly, none of those add a hideous piece of equipment to your character that can’t be customized, despite everything else being able to be.

Firstly, none of those are particularly bad ideas, secondly, none of those add a hideous piece of equipment to your character that can’t be customized, despite everything else being able to be.

First of all, every one of those is a horrible waste of time and energy that devs could be spending building actually good legendaries.

Secondly, if Ranger pets are not hideous pieces of equipment that can’t be customized, we’re playing different games.

id like to see quip/predator affect kits (well… the backpacks/gun/wrench/shield parts as well as the projectiles… i havent seen any videos of an engi with quip; but id be incredibly disappointed if the bomb kit doesnt drop presents)
